WBA, IBO and WBC Interim middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) has rejected the notion that he's "scared" of the upcoming unification with David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs), which is set for October 17th at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Golovkin does admit he's a little worried, concerned in a sense, with the Lemieux bout being his unification and his first headline position as a pay-per-view attraction.

"I am not scared.  I am a little worried because this is a unification fight.  He is a world champion.  He is a very dangerous guy.  It is the biggest step up for us," Golovkin said.

Golovkin is taking Lemieux very seriously. The Canadian puncher is very dangerous, especially in the first six rounds and has the capability of seriously hurting an opponent with a single punch.

"Look, I am just a regular guy that can fight.  Everybody has a chance.  I think this is a very hard fight for us.  I don’t know, he is the biggest puncher in the middleweight division.  I think this fight is a big present for the fans and for TV.  It is a big day for us too.  Everybody has a chance," Golovkin said. “Right now it’s 50-50 – he is a champion and I am a champion.”

He is working on new things in the gym with trainer Abel Sanchez and plans to execute them during the contest.

"It will be a little different.  I have some new ideas that I will use on October 17," Golovkin said.
