With the heavyweight division in the state that it is in, why don't they just give us (the fans) the fights we want to see? He refused to fight Wlad in the U.S. How is turning down the biggest payday of your career against a fighter that you and many others here think is shot "what is best for Chris Byrd?" thats true, but remember, for every fighter, there will be another fighter that has a certain style that will give them fits! For Jones it was Tarver, and for Mosley it was Forrest, and for DLH it's Mosley, etc...the list goes on and on. Hopefully that was what the deal was in Rockys fight against Raheem. I do wish they'd fight a rematch and we could possibly find out if that was the deal or not. But, giving Rocky full credit, he has gone on since then in impressive fashion, with impressive stoppages. He's still young with plenty of time to improve too! ;)

Hey man, Byrd is the CHAMPION. That means he's supposed to be the best. If he can't face a guy that everyone says is shot, and has no chin and so on, then it just proves that all he really is is a fuckin paper champion.

You gotta understand, Chris Byrd is an incredibly undersized HW and the fact that he has a title belt is a mark of the mans perseverance, will power, and guts. While your right he has had some close fights in the past,(Oquendo-I felt he lost that fight by two points, Golota-I feel he won this fight by 2 points,and MCcline- which i also feel Byrd won by 2 points.)
Lets look at the weights of his last three fights.

Chris Byrd is always the smaller guy coming in and against Mccline well he was the incredibly smaller guy. This has to count for something, because no matter how skilled you are if the other guy is just to big, than that skill means very little. Plus Byrd has actual boxing talent, he knows how to fight, and he is very slick for a HW, I respect his skills and the fact that he is always the smaller man.
The main differences between him, Brewster and Ruiz, is that the man can fight and he actually boxes who makes for exciting fights. Ruiz just holds, holds, hits, repeat. Brewster just gets hit. Anybody who says Byrd does not make for exciting fights is a moron who hasn't seen his last three.
Chris Byrd is what he is, and thats an undersized, underpowered, incredibly talented fighter who is starting to get old, and will lose sooner rather than later.
yeah, by showing the highlights you can make almost any fight somewhat exciting....

why should byrd go to germany to fight klitschko, hes the champion. Why subject yourself to the home town decisions if you dont have to. I totally agree. Why should Chris go to Germany, which is notoriously biased aganist foriegn fighters and risk it, even if it is the most economically feasible.
Not all people think in dollar signs, and in addition the man is the champion, why should he bow to Wladimir and his demands who has looked unimpressive to say the least in is last 4 or 5 fights and IMO does not deserve a title shot.
Mosley will win this fight, no doubt about it. However I still don't think that he will regain his past successes, he is not a truly elite fighter anymore.

Well, your correct, being undersized should not be an excuse, but Byrd hasn't made that an issue, and I don't think that has anything to do with him not wanting to fight Wlad. I don't think he wants to fight Wladimir for a number of reasons.
1)Wladimir destroyed his ass the first time around
2)Wlad demands the fight take place in Germany
3)Byrd feels that Wlad is an unworthy challenger and I agree with him.
4)Byrd is the champion and should be able to dictate the terms of the fight.
I think that Byrd should either sign to fight Barrett or fight Wlad(the public pressure is too much for Chris to avoid), there is no one else out there that really deserves a shot other than Barrett.

Gatti's a warrior, not a "white hype." Everybody knows that Mayweather will cave his face in, but Gatti is the attraction and he makes for exciting fights,and hes the champion. Thats why HBO, the media, hype Gatti, but he doesn't need any hype, he does it on his own.
Wladimir will decimate Lykahovic with stifling combinations. His power will ultimately prove much to great, and he is much more skilled. I look to see Wladimir "decisevly" beating him or knocking him out.
Yes that is the logical assumption one would make but with Wlad at this point, you just don't know. Lyakhovich is a tough guy and he has a pretty good body attack, he'll take it to Wlad and put pressure on him and take him out!
Thats an interesting question. Biggs was defintely a very good boxer, but he wasn't a very big guy nor was he a big puncher. He would beat Brewster easy, he would beat Ruiz if Ruiz wasn't allowed to hold constantly, he would get destroyed by Vitali, and I think that a fight with Byrd would a highly intersting fight. Both have good skills, I see a close fight but Byrd winning on points.
Castillo is a pretty decent boxer but he has pillowfists. He fought an old Michael Moorer and outboxed him but couldn't Knock him out, and Moorer has a pretty weak chin!
A featherfisted fighter will be demolished by Wlad.
I wanna see him give Corley a rematch. Chop Chop deserves it and it should make for a pretty good fight. If Cotto makes a big statement in a rematch against the only guy to ever seriously hurt him, than he will answer alot of questions that people have about him. If Chop Chop wins, he will open the doors for future fights and maybe a shot at a world title.
