That's a great deal! Thanks! I'm going to get it.
I like Jim Lampley, and Max Kellerman isn't always bad, but Larry Merchant is a alcoholic idiot who never has anything important to say. He comes out of his vodka-induced fog a couple of times during a fight to make an observation that is completely unrelated to the fight. Just give him a few more drinks and put him back to sleep. Harold Lederman doesn't even seem to be watching the fight. Can't we pay him off and get rid of him? Seriously, I would pay him to shut up.
When Ali's license was stripped it was Joe Frazier who testified before Congress on Muhammad's behalf to have his license reinstated so that Ali could earn a living.
When Ali was broke and barely making a living doing public speeches to support his family, it was Frazier who gave him money out of his own pocket to help Muhammad support his family.
Those are both two very well known, and very well documented facts.
As to their relationship, they've made up several times and both have said many, many good things about the other.
On the other hand, Joe is still very sore about the mean spirited things Ali said about him throughout his entire career. and doesn't seem to have fully gotten over it.
Couple that with the fact that everytime a reporter wants to interview Joe, all they want to talk about is Muhammad, paying no attention to the fact that he's a top 10 Heavyweight ATG himself, and you really can't blame Joe.
That's an excellent summary of what happened, and the current relationship. They will always be linked, and Joe is still resentful of Ali.
I'm surprised to hear this. Roy sounded very gracious after the fight. And I found him quoted saying this:
"He won the fight, he definitely won the fight," Jones said. "Those pitty pat punches he throws were a little harder than I thought. I couldn't see out of my left eye. I don't know what's next for me. I worked so hard for this fight. I just don't know. I couldn't figure him out."
Sorry bro Pavlik is my boy and all, But that would be a bad dec.
That's the truth! I would love to see Pavlik win, but it just ain't gonna happen. Pavlik couldn't keep up with BHop. There's no way Pavlik will be able to handle Calzaghe's speed.
Calzaghe in an easy decision.
I have this also...
That's exactly what I've been thinking! Pavlik stands a good chance of hitting the canvas at some point.
I think Pavlik can win, but BHop is going to make it an ugly dangerous fight, and it's going to be close either way.
Hopkins may be past his prime, but he has a lot of experience and plenty of tricks. He may not have the stamina that he used to have, but he keeps himself in great condition all the time. Pavlik will last better than Hopkins, but he's going to have to get past Hopkins' tricks and counters.
