I'm not talking about punch track numbers, I'm talking about accuracy. Taylor's punches have an arc, and when you throw shots with an arc it's hard to control where they are going. Particularly towards the end, those punches became more and more crooked.its mostly just his right hand, he throws it really high in the air. Im guessing he started doing that to get over an opponents high left hand, but he doesnt seem to know how to straighten it now. it kind of works for him though.
everything else looked pretty solid to me. could have gone to the body more, I saw more than a few opening for right hands to the body after his jabs...and speaking of which, his jab was powerful.
Are you serious? Did you look at the punch totals? Taylor landed close to half of his punches, and like 57% of power punches. How much more accurate does a boxer need to be?

I really dont want to take anything away from Taylor he fought a hard and skilled fight, but he looked great against a fighter that it was easy for him to look great against, Lacy's defense was non-existant.
I agree with you.

If Jermain would let his hands go a little more he'd probably impress me. He seems very reluctant, almost scared at times.

The one thing that stood out to me was the lack of accuracy in Taylor's punches. I expected as much from Lacy but Taylor was missing a lot and unnecessarily it seemed.

Nah, after the interview with Taylor they just cut right back to Jim and Manny.
On a scale of 1-10 tonight, Taylor was at least a 9. He used his jab to control the fight, hurt Lacy at least twice, threw combos like no tomorrow, and fought a very smart fight. If he keeps that up, he will undoubtedly become the #1 man in the super middleweight division and maybe earn himself a spot in the pound for pound rankings again. Bad Intentions is definitely back.
anywhere I can watch this video? unfortunately I was working when the fight was going on. =(
HBO will probably replay it today or tomorrow, other than that, just wait for someone to upload it bro.
Yeah, that must have been a bad situation for both. In order to get back on the road to glory, you have to beat up your friend, former roommate, and teammate. During the fight, Jim told a story of at the press conference, Taylor and Lacy did the usual fighter stare-down, but couldn't hold the stare for long and they both started to bust up laughing. Real testament to how close they must be.
I hope Lacy recovers from this, he's not a bad fighter by any means, it's just that Taylor is too damn good.

I haven't watched it yet (i'm in the process of dl'ing it right now)
but I guess that's what happens when you have two good friends fight each other.
I wouldn't want to hurt one of my friends.. it must have been hard and weird for Taylor.

i guess Calzaghe beating Lacy 12 and 0 in an absolute massacre when LAcy was at his best (whatever that is) can give us something to compare Joe and Taylor with now then...
Joe would have owned Taylors ass.
From a technical standpoint, maybe his best fight ever. He used his jab very well, defended himself well, even had Lacy hurt a few times.
Negatives:
he clinched a lot. Some because he got tired late, some because Lacy was tired also and kept falling into him.
seemed to pull back when he had Lacy hurt. maybe just cautious after blowing himself out in the first Pavlik fight, maybe because Lacy is a friend.

On top of bringing back what had originally brought him to the dance in the first place: his stellar jab, he looked to be in fantastic condition. He's undoubtedly the favorite to win the WBC Super Middleweight Title in this eliminator.
Taylor brought it all last night. He was boxing but he did it wit intensity. He let up as far as goin for the kill but that's gotta be cuz he was fightin his homey.
