In the ALI film with Will Smith they portray Ali and Frazier as friends with Frazier (Toney) offering Ali money when he wasn't fighting. I was told about a documentary on More 4 (UK) about the "Thrilla in Manilla" fight and Frazier harbours a lot of resentment to Ali for all the disrespectful and racial remarks Ali makes about him in the build up to the fight! I thought from the Ali film that they may have been friends but Ali just said those things to hype the fight. Was that bit made up for the film? or were they friends and then fell out with each other?
When Ali's license was stripped it was Joe Frazier who testified before Congress on Muhammad's behalf to have his license reinstated so that Ali could earn a living.
When Ali was broke and barely making a living doing public speeches to support his family, it was Frazier who gave him money out of his own pocket to help Muhammad support his family.
Those are both two very well known, and very well documented facts.
As to their relationship, they've made up several times and both have said many, many good things about the other.
On the other hand, Joe is still very sore about the mean spirited things Ali said about him throughout his entire career. and doesn't seem to have fully gotten over it.
Couple that with the fact that everytime a reporter wants to interview Joe, all they want to talk about is Muhammad, paying no attention to the fact that he's a top 10 Heavyweight ATG himself, and you really can't blame Joe.
That's an excellent summary of what happened, and the current relationship. They will always be linked, and Joe is still resentful of Ali.
I'm trying to download it but I don't know how recent it is. I always thought they were ok but I heard Frazier still resents Ali. Maybe they've buried the hatchet since!
Yeh i watched it yonks ago mate couldnt tell ya when it was made..

Msoking Joe Frazier ranked Top 5 in my book. He is what Tyson would have been if tyson had half the heart and determination of Joe. Sucks to be in someones shadow and only get mentiond when the other is mentioned first. But Muhammads personality and the use if words over shadows Joe in those times and in history forever and there aint nothing Joe can do about it. Holding on to hate take alt of time and energy and although I truely feel that Ali went over board with alot of the things he said and did during those promotions and selling their fights I don't agree with spewing you hate in public some 40 years later. Then again I am not Joe and I never had someone embarass me in pbulic and tarnish my reputation like that so I guess i should just shut my mouth and not speak on it,.....Lefty

It was on last night in the UK
Frazier was proud that Ali is all ****ed up now
he has a message on his cell phone about it.
Cant remember what he said now
but he's happy that Ali's the way he is
and he said what goes around comes around.
Larry Holmes said Ali was overrated and i agree.
Thats a horrible thing to say! Ali did probablt over do the trash talking but for Frazier to say he's happy with Ali's condition now is terrible!!

i saw that doc last night and if that doc was filmed recently it looks as though Frazier still holds a grudge against Ali he even takes pride in the fact he was some part of Ali's condition now in later life
a bit harsh but that is the way he feels apparently allthough i dont know when that Doc was filmed so they may have patched it up i doubt it though
Dunno but i have saw bits of that documentry you mentioned..
