It's been below average. I think if you try and list the best 10 fights of the year, or even 5, and compare it to a truly great year, the lack of quality fights becomes glaringly obvious. When I say quality fight, I don't mean "one where your favourite fighter won/guy you dislike lost". I mean sustained two-way action, heated exchanges and some drama. How many fights really meet that criteria this year?

i'm surprised there has only been one mention of danny over lucas i think that win is massively overblown. What makes you say that?

It's gonna make a ton of money regardless of the undercard.. Though I do think it hurts boxing by not putting young stars like wilder or lomochenko in good fights on the undercard.. It could really turn someone into a big star if they could land a big win on the undercard.. If the last 5 years taught us anything it's that nobody involved gives a fuck about Boxing.

I really hate when people are like, "Why won't he throw more punches?" Um, because he's getting countered hard, because he's missing, because he doesn't have the stamina, because the movement is confusing him, there's a variety of reasons fighters don't just unload on guys. Most good fighters only throw a lot if they have someone helpless in front of them. That's one that got constantly reeled out after Hopkins vanquished foe after foe. Like it was just some strange coincidence.

Gonzalez could take another fight in December, if he blows Cuadres out of there early. If that fight was against Estrada, or Inoue, then I think he would still be the best fighter in the world.

Donaire wasn't in his prime, against Rigo. He was above his best weight and had for the 2-3 fights before it, been an exclusively 1 handed fighter who had fallen in love with his power. He was a much better fighter, before that. My example would be Abner Mares getting knocked smooth out by Johnnh Gonzalez.

Eubank and Andy Lee would not be the best wins on Golovkin's resume. :lol1: Resumes matter greatly. Andre Berto looked like a world beater against crap competition, yet he couldn't even handle Victor Ortiz. That's true of a huge number of fighters. You don't know how good a fighter truly is until they fight other fighters worth a damn. I think Andy Lee would be a better win than Geale, or Murray.

It's amazing that Broner is a 4 weight world champion and yet his best win is, either DeMarco or an old, blown-up, Malignaggi. Similarly, Jorge Linares and Ricky Burns are 3 division world champions and the best win either of them have is either Rocky Martinez, or Anthony Crolla. Just how weak is this era of boxing?

Browne should have been Dq'd. The commission ought to change this to a no-contest.

Tyson Fury already went to Wlad's backyard and won 9/12 rounds. When this fight happens, the last time Wlad will have won and looked good winning would have been 2 and half years ago. The new division has already started.

I like 115, 126 and 200. HW has potential for a big 2017. I think Cruiserweight gets the edge, because those guys have all fought each other and done so in wars. There is more talent at the top of 115, though.

It's difficult to say. What's very easy to say, is that it's absolutely ridiculous they're going head to head, when there is no boxing on next week, or last week.

If he doesn't fight Spence, after holding the title for 2 years and fighting the likes of Gavin, that's very difficult to justify.
