These days rankings, mandatory challengers and champs of the numerous boxing organizations are bogus and just about meaningless.
Still when Ring Mag lists Alvarez as lineal MW Champ, I gotta say WTF!
I realize Ring has some formula they go by that justifies calling Canelo champ, but damn this is definitey a case of the emperor has no clothes. SMH
Canelo undefeated at middleweight with a better resume than GGG.
Are GGG Ginas really going to push for GGG to be ring champ for facing a B level welterweight?
That's just stubborn, stupid and wrong. Canelo is no longer middleweight champion of anything. He stepped down from his WBC world title. He is now challenging for a 154 pound title. You don't stay lineal middleweight champ when you give the title up. It doesn't work that way and Ring damn well knows this. Oscar owns Ring and promotes Canelo which of course is a big fat conflict of interest.
Doug Fischer said that if Canelo takes 2 fights at 154 in a row, he'll be removed from the 160 standings.
Though he did beat Angulo, Lara, and Khan all at 155, having Canelo as the top 160lber is sad considering he's never beaten a fighter who weighed over 155lbs.
Canelo is recognised by every media rankings as the MW champ. That's just fact, deal with it. Canelo's win over Cotto is better than anything on Lil G's resume, deal with that too. It's impossible for Golovkin to be even in with a shout of lineal he's never beaten a 1 or 2 rated MW.
Just FACTS.
It's ok man, it's ok. Canelo is better than GGG, that's why he vacated to avoid the fight. Kisses.:lame:
So what you're saying is the lineal title don't mean Sheeeet...
Exactly. I wonder why people get hung up on BS boxing organization rules like they were handed down with the Ten Commandments??
by the way the website you are on right now has him still as the Middleweight champ

3 guys in that top 10 lost their last fight.
Middleweight might be the weakest division in boxing.
Yet no OTHER major publication has stripped Canelo of his lineal standing. It ain't about Ring magazine. By the rules he is the lineal champ you GGG fanboys can cry all you want but unless you break your own rules no reason he doesn't hold his lineal standing. Floyd held lineal status at 154 for years while he was fighting at 147 and 152 catchweights. Stevenson held lineal status for years without fighting Kovalev. There is no grounds to strip him which is why Ring, Boxingscene, ESPN ect all publications that care about lineal titles still have him number 1.
So what you're saying is the lineal title don't mean Sheeeet...
Thanks Jsmooth.

Yeah bigdunny, but it's a shame cuz NO ONE considers him the real champion. He won it by beating an outsided JMW and avoided a fight with his mandatory. GGG is the real champion, you don't fool anyone.

UH...Of course he is Oscar OWNS Ring Magazine!
No Bias From Them Though Right? Last time you seen a fighter Parade around with a Ring Title Anyway? :lol1: I don't even think fighters themselves take that publication serious anymore!

ring has discgresion when deciding when and whether to strip canelo of his lineage. canelo is the guy who beat the guy leading all the way back to bernard hopkins. what you're saying is that it's unreasonable to have canelo as the middleweight champion when he's fighting his next fight at 154. it's also unreasonable to fight at 155 lbs, excluding virtually every middleweight on the planet over 27 years old from coming in healthy. furthermore, you think his road to the title, which was through an aging welterweight who won the title off of a dead guy with no knees, cheapens the title.
i agree with you.
canelo
cotto
martinez
pavlik
taylor
hopkins the legend.
that's the lineage. the ring can strip canelo of his lineage. it is in their right. but they won't. and i've got beef with that. it's keeping the best MW in the world from truly establishing himself.
ring mag is owned by goldenboy promotions. they rank based on a collection of writers, but they've also got a lot of discretion in stripping or maintaining their lineal title.
and let's just come out and say it:
he's ducking golovkin.
"we don't f#ck around."

Do you even know what lineal means? How would he be stripped of that? He's also rated number 1 on ESPN MW ranking as well because they put lineal champs automatically number 1. So unless they decide to break their rules he will be there until he loses or enough time has gone by that he hasn't fought at that weight.
