He hasn't beaten any elite black fighters that have the "quick twitch" which makes them superior athletes.
Bunch of bull!
Those so called "quick twitch" fighters can rank a get a shot at the title any time like Mikey did!
I guess Adrien "The Problem" Broner is not a "quick twitch" fighter or as my gramps would say "Puro Pedo!"
Late last year on LA fight Club, Joel De La Hoya (Oscar's older brother) who manages Diego De La Hoya said he was over seeing Oscar's son Devon De La Hoya's (from a previous relationship) training!
For years Oscar had been estranged from his son. But that did not stop Joel and Oscar's father from having a relationship with the kid. Joel stated that the kid was being trained by Fernando Vargas! At first I took a step back but then it makes sense.
De La Hoya was asked by ***************.com if he would ever consider training fighters. The fact that he had already begun training a young fighter came as a shock, but the fighter he was training and the other trainer was even more shocking.
Oscar has a son named Devon that is sixteen years old. Oscar has been working on developing Devon into a possible star in boxing and has been working alongside his former nemesis, now friend, “El Feroz” Fernando Vargas.
The two formal rivals began building a friendship late last year/early this year when De La Hoya invited Vargas to watch some fights. Shortly after, Golden Boy signed one of Vargas’ fighters, Cesar “The Great” Quiñonez, and they have been working together ever since.
Seems like Fernando Vargas is a mentor to Oscar's kid and has had at least one fighter signed by GB!
why does Canelo fans always want him to fight someone smaller and in lower weight classes?
My family always give me chit because I make it real. Cinnamon never fight at 160 let alone 154.
Clean up at 168 and then move to light heavy.
Did you see the 30 for 30 episode "No Mas?"
I've seen it at least 6 times! History was not as kind to Sugar Ray Leonard? The documentary ends with SRL going to Panama present day and questioning Duran in the middle of a boxing ring and asking him why he quit. SRL said that during this questioning session he was very apprehensive because he did not know what Duran would do - especially being inside a boxing ring. I say troubled because SRL did not get the respect he felt he deserved. In fact many feel that SRL did not win, Duran quit.
Leonard led by a small margin of 68-66, 68-66 and 67-66 on the judges scorecards at the time of the stoppage.
What the hell there are still seven rounds to go?
SRL is worth over 120 million today and still seems to be bothered by this.
After Leonard vs Duran II, Duran fought 45 more times winning three more titles.
This was not the only ghost in SRL closet. Marvin Hagler vs SRL! was the undisputed World Middleweight Champion from 1980 to 1987. Hagler made twelve undisputed title defenses and holds the highest KO% of all middleweight champions at 78%. At six years and seven months. Hagler later said that, as the fighters embraced in the ring after the fight, Leonard said to him, "You beat me man". "He said I beat him," Hagler said after the fight, "and I was so happy".
Leonard denied making the statement claiming he only told Hagler, "You're a great champion". Leonard was announced as winner by split decision, which remains hotly disputed to this day. Haglar lost in a split decision to SRL. Judge JoJo Guerra, scorecard was 118–110 for SRL. Judge Dave Moretti, who scored it 115–113 for Leonard. Lou Filippo, who scored it 115–113 for Hagler. Associated Press: 117–112 Hagler, Chicago Sun-Times: 115–114 Hagler, Washington Post: 114–114.
Do I think Oscar is gay no not at all.
Oscar De La Hoya shelled out $20 million to keep a model quiet over a photo's that showed the "Golden Boy" dressed in high heels, fishnet stockings and frilly lingerie, the New York Post reported.
The newspaper published the drag photos of De La Hoya frolicking with Siberian knockout Milana Dravnel on Nov. 15, 2007.
De La Hoya, 38, finally admitted the truth in a interview with Univision. The Golden Boy said that he contemplated suicide while battling alcohol and drug addictions.
"Let me tell you, yes, yes, it was me (in those pictures)," he said. "I am tired now of lying, of lying to the public and of lying to myself."
De La Hoya said he was high on booze and cocaine when the racy photos were snapped.
The Nevada Athletic Commission have confirmed they will approve the proposed super-fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather if they are asked to.
But which governing bodies will sanction the fight?
International Boxing Federation (IBF)
World Boxing Association (WBA)
World Boxing Council (WBC)
World Boxing Organization (WBO)
I say this because Rocky Marciano Retired undefeated (49-0) same as Floyd's record.
Conor McGregor is not a Boxer but an MMA fighter!
This fight needs to be treated like Muhammad Ali vs. Antonio Inoki. ... Inoki, who had been taught the art of catch wrestling by legendary wrestler Karl Gotch, was staging exhibition fights against champions of various martial arts, in an attempt to show that pro wrestling was the dominant fighting discipline.
Rocky Marciano has long ago earned that right!
It was not Dirrell's fault. He hit no one after the bell and he suckerpunched no one.
I would not call that a sucker punch! It was part of a three punch combination the last which happened to have landed after the bell.
A sucker punch is what Mayweather did to Victor Ortiz! and Dirrel's uncle did!
Don't be silly!
"Which trainer would you choose if you were a boxer?"
Sounds like you are talking about current trainers?
I also would add Nacho to the list as well as Joel Diaz, Ronnie Shields, James “Buddy” McGirt, Sr, John David Jackson across the pond Joe Gallagher, Rob McCracken and Shane McGuigan.
If GGG does the same then f*ck him. This is pathetic.
Chavez Jr. ain't great at his best, let alone a drained corpse. The least you can do is fight the guy at 168.
LOL! Really? Did you just say that?
Canelo fights at 154?
GGG is the Middle weight champ (160 lbs).
JR on his best day fights 168 to a German nobody!
The last time JR fought someone his size he quit and got sent to the hospital.
By the way that guy Andrzej Fonfara is fighting Adonis Stevenson for the WBC light weight title next month.
Just go to ESPN Latino or check out the dozens of Canelo Chavez shows they put up every day in spanish, all the top comments are people criticizing Canelo for ducking GGG and hoping Chavez knocks the arrogant Diva out.
It's just to sell the fight to the ignorant Mexican fight fans!
JR is the real diva!:bottle:
His downfall was the weight loss and the fact that hes a mediocre fighter with no heart
SR had the heart of a lion!
JR has the heart of a a Dandelion! :bottle:
Well, Chavez sr did quit like a punk a couple times, against Frankie Randall and in his very last fight against some bum
but he was well past his prime when that happened so maybe he gets a pass
You can't be serious! His last fight, after a 25 year career (Fight 115?).
By the way Frankie Randal was fight 89 after 14 undefeated years! You must me a moron!
So would you say Muhammad Ali punked out against Larry Homes for failing to come out after the 10th round?
Fighters today don't fight 50 fights in a career let alone going past the century mark!
Notice how all the UK pundits are backing Broner and all the Americans are backing Garcia. Americans hate their own.
Mikey Garcia was born in the USA and that alone makes him American regardless of his decent! Mikey is from an esteemed boxing family.
By the age of 22 had earned a Associates Degree and graduated from the Ventura (Calif.) County Police Academy. He put his Law Enforcement career on hold while he presumes his boxing career! A very affable person. So it's easy to like and follow him.
Unlike Broner who's life resembles a police blotter.
Garcia by UD!
Yeah I heard all the pundits saying Broner is taking this one seriously!
Got new for you all! They are all serious!
Ok let's get real
Personally I think if Broner would of opened like he did towards the end
I honestly think Garcia would of ko'd him without doubt
He might of dropped Garcia and even then not to sure but Mikey would of caught him with one of those body shots and that stupid **** Again Broke would of crumbled
Just an ignorant person and someone try telling me otherwise after that interview
There is a post fight video of Edward Garcia AKA Mikey's dad and trainer of Fernando Vargas. He said he told his son Robert Garcia in Spanish in the later rounds "Don't rattle him! (meaning Mikey). He's got it under control! He doesn't need a knock out!"
SUBZER0ED, 2x. I really want Chavez to kick Alvarez's ass, but with the weight-drain, I just don't think he'll have the strength.
I really want to see Chavez JR VS Andrzej Fonfara II!
Oh wait Fonfara is fighting Superman for the title?
I thought Batman had the title? :dunno:

What's good for tonight? Rewatching old fights or watching paint dry?
Defining "heart" as including outside-the-ring... Breaking through adversity, whilst maintaining dignity... Ortiz. He's a little f'd up but seems a genuine guy.
Goddam, that Mayweather KO of Ortiz was yellow, man. Please don't nobody try to defend that. That was the mark of a winner, but not of a champion.
Mayweather played his career smart, no doubt. Ortiz could've been great too if someone could've gotten him to focus and channel his desire. Stuff like the Robert Garcia stories makes me think that people were taking advantage of Ortiz for large parts of his career - that kind of thing cripples a man
Floyd's KO of Victor Ortiz might have been legal but it was still punk ass! So at the end of the day if you want to crown his ass....Do so! King punk ass *****!
But at the end of the day when we talk about the greatest Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Robinson and Joe Louis come to mind. There are others!
Where have you guys been? Love Bein Sports. Boxing every Saturday night! I have Time Warner in "The OC!" That is the OC as in Orange County California (Disneyland, California Angeles and Huntington Beach-Surf City). They televised 2014’s “Fight of the Year” on August 9th, the back-and-forth slugfest between Francisco Rodriguez and Katsunari Takayama.
And even you agree if they both win, it's because of skills outside of kung fu.
:lol1:
Lol, who mentioned Kung Fu?
The OP stated street fight not boxing match with Richard Steele to save your ass.
Yonlyu're arguing Bruce Lee would win largely to jeet Kun do are you not? And you mentioned your son's level of karate mastery, so I feel you believe both serve well in a street fight. Am I wrong?
I am not auguring with you and I am not talking about my kids. When we see an MMA match you know there are rules. In a street fight there are no rules.
Martial artist are taught certain things that are only used as a last resort.
The key I think is the amount sparing or free style fighting you do? In 20 or so years the chit ads up.
Floyd fool fans always starting stupid threads.
Bruce Lee founded Jeet Kune Do "The way of the intercepting fist" in 1967, referring to it as "non-classical", suggesting that it is a formless form of Chinese Kung Fu. Unlike traditional martial arts, Jeet Kune Do is not fixed or patterned and is a philosophy with guiding ideas. Named for the Wing Chun concept of interception or attacking when one's opponent is about to attack, Jeet Kune Do's practitioners believe in minimal effort with maximum effect and extreme speed.
Wing Chun, Kickboxing, Escrima, Judo and Fencing are incorporated. Did you know that Bruce Lee watched films of the Mohammed Ali and incorporated his striking techniques and movements into the art of Jeet Kune Do.
Bruce Lee is a Martial Artist not a boxer. He is a legend.
