Pac hands down, imo.
There is no shame in losing to Shane Mosley, who is currently ranked #3 in the world pound-for-pound. If Floyd were to lose to Mosley, you could also gaurantee a high-profile rematch at some point. While I'm sure Floyd would be devastated to lose his '0', I'm sure it wouldn't cause many of his fans to abandon him or force him out of the sport for good.
Joshua Clottey on the other hand is a solid fighter with a relatively low profile who is currently not ranked in the top ten on Ring Magazines P4P list. He also lost to Manny's last opponent in Miguel Cotto, who was absolutely brutalized by the Pac-Man. If Clottey hands Manny a loss tonight, I'm sure people would be a lot more shocked than if Floyd were to lose to Mosley.
That said... It would have a lot to do with how each fighter lost. Obviously a brutal KO defeat is going to sting a lot more than a controversial split decision.
If it's true that RJJ made 10m for the Green fight in Oz, then I wouldn't be surprised to see Hopkins take the fight. That's big money for Hopkins right now.
If Danny fights any one of Dawson/Pascal/Adamek/Bute/Hopkins like he's being rumoured to, he gets sexually abused by any of them
If he does beat one of those guys though... You'd have to think a fight with Hopkins would be in the works at some point.
Hey there... I was at the fight in Sydney on Wednesday and after the result I found this forum and decided to sign up. Looks like a good community... Kudos. :boxing:
Anyways, as a RJJ fan who saw the fight live... There was no way that fight wasn't going to get stopped. I've seen most of the videos online but what you guys never saw were the slow motion, high definition replays they showed on the big screen as everyone was making their way out of the arena. While a lot of Green's punches were indeed missing, he did land some absolutely brutal uppercuts to Roy's head and the replays clearly showed just how bad RJJ was hurting after those shots. To be honest, I was a little surprised they didn't stop the fight sooner. If they hadn't stopped the fight, I think it would have been extremely likely that Green would have knocked Roy out for the count within the final minute of the round.
As a RJJ fan it was very disappointing. Personally, I'm glad they stopped the fight when they did. If they let it go on, Roy could have been brutalized. :(
Seeing as I'm new, have little to no points and want to be a long term member here, I believe I shall take your bet.
Your 400k points for my 700 something. :D :P
Faster in what sense? Hands? Movement? Defense? Footwork?
I just meant overall speed... So I guess it would encompass all those areas you mentioned.:cool3:
Depends on how hopkins plays this, if he turns it into a race war like he did with calzaghe and trinidad, where it becomes black vs white or black vs latino again, and then add the american vs aussie thing, then I could see it doing decent numbers even in the u.s
^This is what I was thinking...
If a war of words really broke out between those two fighters I think it'd generate some decent press. I don't think the fight would do huge numbers... But it could definitely do something respectable if promoted right. It would be a huge fight in Australia, no question. But I doubt B-Hop makes the trip down under, regardless how much cash he stands to make for doing so.
Personally, I think it's going to take another high-profile victory for Green to even fall on B-Hop's radar. It's going to be interesting to see what happens in Danny's next fight.
ugh are you gay :ugh:
They called the white folk who stood up for African Americans 'n*gger lovers', too. Why don't you think about that for a second and come to your senses.
I'm not a homosexual. I'm a boxing fan who is sick of a lot of educated and fantastic boxing discussion on this board being tainted by the total ignorance and hate of a select few.
A. Drug test Manny whenever they feel like it.
B. Test Mayweather minimally whenever convenient for him
Its obvious.
Yeah, the US Anti-Doping Agency is really going to risk their credibility by playing favorites.
C'mon son.
STFU stop trying to compare ******s to black people. Being black is not a sin or a disgusting crime, being gay is. LOL!!!
The unprovoked hate for them and anyone who stands up for them is in fact comparable. Their history, on the other hand, is not comparable. If you think anyone who has something nice to say about a gay person is himself gay, you have some serious issues to work through.
do u agree that both should be tested for hiv if theres a chance that one fighter has it?
I personally think every fighter should be tested for contagious diseases before they fight, whether that be HIV or any other major disease that can be spread through the bodily fluids fighters excrete during a bout.
Grow up.
I swear, the amount of homophobia on this board is damn near sickening. Have you guys ever met a gay person in your life? Believe it or not, they're not all ravenous, AIDS infested animals out to get you. Most are just ordinary people like you or I, just trying to get on with life.
In any event, even if Mayweather was gay, I don't see how that would effect his legacy as a boxer. It certainly wouldn't change my admiration of his boxing ability.
what about Darchinyan? him and Katsidis are your best fighters by FAR
This is true.
As far as Hopkins-Green goes... There was a report on here a few days ago about Green still wanting the fight, but Hopkins being hesitant to agree to anything below a 60-40 split - which is a highly contentious issue, considering the fight would be held in Australia and that Green would bring with him a very large fan base. Green wants 50-50... But it looks like he's going to have to concede something if he wants Hopkins to travel down under.

hey floyd is that you, too early to make up excuses!
If you re-read the thread, you'll see I didn't make a call either way. So you know, I actually voted for I think he's clean. Really, as far as I'm concerned it's just a lot of talk from some of his rivals. I'd be very surprised if Pac was indeed cheating.
Just because I'm a fan of Mayweather that doesn't mean I can't be a fan of Pac, too. They're both great fighters and the bout on March 13 is going to be amazing. :boxing:
in this day you can't count it out but he IS innocent til proven guilty so we should leave it at that. im i suspicious? i be lying if i said no because of how he's been handling all these flush shots above 140....you can say the same for alot of fighters like floyd, shane(guilty), margarito(cheater), cotto etc...all of these fighters are in a day where the science is so advanced there is a possibility that all of them are using it.
Good points all round.
Damn... So nearly 30% of those who voted thus far think something is going on? Crazy...
It's going to be interesting to see how this all plays out. One thing is for sure... 24/7 gonna be classic. :biggthump
If Floyd admitted to (or was caught) being gay, I hardly think it would negatively effect his legacy as a professional boxer.
If Manny admitted to (or was caught) using performance enhancing drugs, I think it would almost certainly effect his legacy as a professional boxer.
A blood test is not just a teaspoon I believe. When I had blood taken for tests I actually went blind for 5 minutes! It actually was very draining and I'm not a world class athlete.
If it is just a teaspoon = Manny is a bitch.
I think you'll find for sports related blood testing it's only a teaspoon.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the whole "you beat a legend, you become a legend" thing come from Bernard Hopkins?
I figured the commentators and Australian media were just running with that sh1t. There was even a write up in one of the local Sydney papers about Bernard saying that recently. In any event, the mainevent boxing commentary team are absolute garbage.
Also, keep in mind he is probably referring to Australian boxing when he talks about his 'legend' status. There is no doubt he will go down as an Aussie legend. I hardly think Green is so delusional to think he is one of the sport's all time greats.
Standard just look at mundines career and when he decided to vacate titles or go down a division its normally when he has to fight decent competition. His 2nd last fight he looked like a casper the anorexic ghost.
Yep. It seems every time there is a mandatory challenge around the corner, Mundine vacates the title. He was ordered by the IBO to give Daniel Geale an immediate rematch and instead Mundine vacates the title and moves down a division to fight some bum for a vacant title at 154. The guy is a joke.
I hope this fight doesn't happen. I'd rather see PBF fight the winner of Mosley/Berto, with the successful addition of random blood testing to both fighter's training camps and a great fight to boot. :boxing:
A bout with Matthew Hatton would be an absolute joke, really.
