When hurt, or in danger you tie up. I honestly do not see why Roy tries to fight in the same style he used to when he was in his 20s when he is in his forties. most great fighters (Roy is great) redefine themselves and change their styles when their bodies change, but Roy chooses not to. I wish he would sit down and teach himself the basics about how you should fight when you lose your superior athleticism.
Hey there... I was at the fight in Sydney on Wednesday and after the result I found this forum and decided to sign up. Looks like a good community... Kudos. :boxing:
Anyways, as a RJJ fan who saw the fight live... There was no way that fight wasn't going to get stopped. I've seen most of the videos online but what you guys never saw were the slow motion, high definition replays they showed on the big screen as everyone was making their way out of the arena. While a lot of Green's punches were indeed missing, he did land some absolutely brutal uppercuts to Roy's head and the replays clearly showed just how bad RJJ was hurting after those shots. To be honest, I was a little surprised they didn't stop the fight sooner. If they hadn't stopped the fight, I think it would have been extremely likely that Green would have knocked Roy out for the count within the final minute of the round.
As a RJJ fan it was very disappointing. Personally, I'm glad they stopped the fight when they did. If they let it go on, Roy could have been brutalized. :(
Well he tried to tie Green up but the ref broke it quick...then he tried to back up on his spaghetti legs and that didn't help...
If his legs weren't so gone I think he cudda survived...
Dudes got a horrible chin.
