If you look at all the hype, TV appearences/interviews, magazine covers/articles, Pacquiao seems to have/get double the hype as Floyd.
But why does Floyd seem to do better if not the same, with half the press or hype.love?
Manny/Mosley & Floyd/Mosley.... Don't seem rite to me seeing as tho Manny is supposed to be bigger, or is it just the fact he's liked and the hype don't match the numbers?
Actually, Manny gets way more because......he doesn't fight just 3 times in say 5 years.
So what's more attractive to everyone concerned with money? Floyd pulling 1.3 mil once every few years, or Manny pulling 1.3 mil twice a year or more?
Naw Adamek is no where close to the hall of fame. He could sto
?
JMM is going in the HOF. Don't know where that line of thinking comes from.
Cotto is only close cause he has more career to go and haven't seen it all yet.
Im sure Marquez will say the same thing after he gets stopped.
Funny. Manny didn't stop him the first two times. And the second time he fought him is after the whole taking test thing......
So, apparently, Marquez is able to take them.
Really? Shane never got hit like that? I'm pretty sure he was *more* out of it in the Vernon Forrest fight. When Manny knocked him down in the 3rd, it was nothing like the 2 knock downs Vernon landed on Shane.
And Shane was in his prime then.
If you guys are so scared for Pac and Floyd then tell them not to go fighting at JMW winning bogus titles mainly in Pacs case.
Rant over clowns.
Well, Sergio calling out 154 is kind of naive.
He's not the draw, sorry.
Is it reasonable? Really, what is closer to a good catch weight? Not 154.
Pac fought Cotto, Clottey and Margarito
Margarito fought Cotto, Clottey, Shane and Pac
Cotto fought Margarito, Clottey, Shane and Pac
Clottey fought Cotto, Margarito and Pac
Shane fought Cotto, Margarito, and Floyd
Floyd fought Shane.
Can you find the kitty cat?
This can be updated now that Shane and Pac fought.
;10585034']Roy was one of the most skilled fighters of all time, period. More skilled than Leonard, Ali, and Duran IMHO. Yet, what did he do with that talent besides beat a few quality names? He did move up to HW(which is no simple task by all means) and beat a guy who "knocked down Evander Holyfield" aka the subpar HW champion. It wasn't like he pulled a Michael Spinks when he went up and fought Larry Homles. No no no. He can have all the talent in the world, but it's what you do with that talent that defines you.
Yep.
It's really a shame. If he had any kind of work ethic or respected that he was one of the most skilled fighters all time (if not the most pure talented boxer in the history of the sport) he could have accomplished a lot more than he did.
And he couldn't sustain it. He kept trying to fight like he always did, even when he got older. That's why he got KTFO twice. I mean, those are some of the most memorable layouts in all of boxing.
The reason being that when the ref is on his right, he hits with the left, blocking the ref's view with his body. Like speeding in front of a cop, but with a wall between you and him...
.............You mean what pretty much every fighter who has ever tied up in the history of boxing does?
To be honest his win over Pavlik is no better than Floyds win over Marquez. Both were brought up two divisions at a catchweight yet Bhop is praised and Floyd (and soon to be Manny) are slammed for something Bhop has made a out of.
What?.....
Ok....A) Pavlik is bigger than 160. Obviously. *THAT'S WHY HE'S MOVING TO 168* and B) A guy who is 135-140 going to 150-154 is a whole different story than a big man going from 160 to 170.
Geeeeeeeeeeeeeez....
no, not even close
He's not #1, but he's up there. I mean who are we counting higher P4P? Floyd, Sergio, and Pac are the only guys I'd say are truly above him P4P. And Floyd never fights. Hopkins in his 40s has more fights than Floyd has had in his 30s....that's just f*&^ing lazy.
In summary, yes, African-Americans have made the biggest contributions to boxing. That this would intimidate anyone or ruin their world only means that your self-esteem is based on some racial solidarity and not on your own individual accomplishments, which tells all of us intelligent folk that your real day to day life is pretty darn pathetic.
Congratulations to Bernard Hopkins! -ATG
The way your thread is written doesn't help. It seems to simply want to incite people who might not be a certain skin color....
im basing it off of 2010-present (most recent fights)
B Hop: Roy Jones, Pascal x2
Sergio: pavlik, williams, dzinziruk
Pac: Clottey, Margs, Mosley
Sergio had the toughest of the three. Pac's been on there for quite sometime and off name recognition
Bhop: mainly because of his age....quite an incredible feat.
Good way to exclude Bhops performance over Pavlik. Which was >>>>>> Than Sergio's.
My point. Sergio was not even anywhere close to the top 10 list before fighting Williams. To me the past decades do matter for top 10 P4P and where you were relative to the top 10.
I put Bhop #4. I think Sergio is doing something special, however, any loss and I would say he's out of the top 10. Period. Unlike when Bhop lost to Calzage, no way he's out of the top 10 because he's earned tenure there.
Headbutting.
Hitting behind the head. (granted they were both doing this)
The "Headlock and hit" was nice on a couple of occasions. Specially rocking that body shot over and over while the ref is screaming to stop.
He may be a legend...but he is a dbag of the highest degree.
Seriously?
Watch more boxing.
You think Bhop is the dirtiest ever? Hahahahahahahahahahahah....wait...wait....hahahahahahahahahah
This scene is actually from Matrix the videogame for original xbox. Its a bonus scene that you had to unlock for bonus.
Yes. He's also in the second movie in a few scenes here and there, no fighting ones though.
Hopkins is great no doubt...but Roy Jones was a better fighter than him....proved it in the ring...the end of Roy's career isn't going to influence me any...
Hopkins is to be respected for his skill and toughness...but he is a dirty fighter, has fought like a coward on occasions, flopping and all that nonsense....
He avoided James Toney like the plague...
I lived the era...I saw the fighters...Roy was the better fighter period.
And Floyd is better...
Hopkins might be next on the list , him or Pac
While Roy certainly accomplished a lot, and was indeed, the more talented and better fighter, he lacks one thing Hopkins never did.
Work ethic. Roy was lazy cause he could be. People don't criticize that for fun, everyone does cause it is true. He relied on his natural talent, athletic ability, etc and never worked on the basics.
It's why father time caught him much quicker (by getting KTFO *TWICE*, which Hopkins never allowed to happen to him).
Floyd might be great...and yes a better fighter. But Floyd has had all of 2 fights the last 3 1/2 years. And only 6 in the last 5 1/2. It's kind of sad that someone has more fights in his 40s than one guys has in all of his 30s.
Floyd will not get that high a spot in the HOF and Boxing Community after it's over because he didn't fight enough, didn't fight enough high profile fights, and never fought the greats in his prime.
At least Hopkins fought Roy when he was great. Floyd never fought the best at any time they were the best.
Another thing is boxing promoters might be bad, but Dana is an A**hole when it comes to money.
The Big Names in UFC don't make sh*& compared to other name athletes. Given the revenues, they could be sharing more money, but they refuse to. That's why so many of the fighters sell out to anyone and everyone to advertise with.
;10584670']1. Sugar Ray Robinson
2. Muhammad Ali
3. Joe Louis
4. Willie Pep
5. Jack Johnson
6. Jack Dempsey
7. Henry Armstrong
8. Archie Moore
9. Bernard Hopkins
10. Benny Leonard
Can I see yours?
....So no Sugar Ray Leonard or Roberto Duran?
I'd say he may be in the top 30. Possibly. I certainly put him above Hagler now for longevity, and as a middleweight with his 20 defenses.
Calzaghe has pillows for fist he doesn't count
True true. He was always slap punching. But compubox last night was much like the first fight. Pascal had like 15% connect percentage. Hopkins has taken more than that in many fights, including the one against Roy Jones early in his career.
Maybe you should take even a closer look. Because, more importantly than who you beat is when you beat them.
???
Interesting. So, we should discredit Ali cause he basically lost a bunch of fights late in his career. Or Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard, etc, etc, etc.
Objectively, Calzaghe beat a bunch of nobodies he was supposed to beat for a lot of title defenses. He had some great victories at the end of his career (how many, oh yeah, 3 elite fighters, Jones, Hopkins, Kessler), but the body of work doesn't put him much higher than just being top 50.
Forget jumping weight classes by cherry picking, this man dominated the middleweight division for 10 years, making 20 defenses of his title and is now a 2 time Light Heavyweight Champion and is the oldest fighter ever to win a world title.
This man fought everyone, lost some, won most and is still kicking ass at the age of 46.
Bernard Hopkins is the greatest and Pacquiao and Mayweather can fight for second place.
You do realize they are not in the same generation right?
Hopkins is 15 years older than Pacman. I've been a Bhop fan a long, long time, and what he has done is awesome. But Pac still has a ways to go yet and can improve his mark when it's all said and done.
Oh, one more thing
Calzaghe > Hopkins always on an alltime great list.
hahahahhahaahhaahhahahaa....wait...wait....jhahahahahhahahahahahaah. Other than 3 hall of fame fights, how many did Zag have? (And then look at a top 50 list)
He beat a guy that you guys said was overrated and gets gassed easy. But now, all the sudden when hopkins wins, he beats a great fighter? Double standard for hopkins
Like it or not, Pascal beat Dawson. Who most people had on the top 10 P4P lists and believed was the best Light Heavy Weight in the world.
im going off topic here but thread starter, I hope you aren't one of those afro cenrtic idiots who thinks egyptians were sub saharan african do you? :lol1: just looking at your pro black thread and then your avatar made me laugh.
Ancient Egyptians were actually a wide mix of peoples. Sumerian, Greek, Assyrian, Babylonian, etc. Egypt was conquered and influenced by all those. And yes, there's DNA evidence that 30-40% of the upper nile population from various grave sites had what is commonly called "negroid" characteristics in bone structure, etc.
Not to get tooooooo off topic.
Bernard is going to age overnight and it will show come May 21st.
Whoooooops.
Good video, ouch. The ropes made it worse cause they held him up when he was out for two more shots.
They gotta fix those advertisements on the ring.
Those patches are slick and they suck for fights. They need to build the ads into the ring material, not put slick surfaces down.
lol yeah Bernard proved me wrong once again
Yeah that was a brutal KO.
Hopkins does that. I gave him no chance against Kelly Pavlik. I mean, how? Pavlik dismantled Taylor twice and Hopkins couldn't get to Taylor. I didn't think 10 lbs would be a big deal, especially since Pavlik was having trouble making 160 and should be at a bigger weight.
If you follow the strictest rules of boxing they were knockdowns.
But they weren't *caused* by a punch. The fault was the ring surface where the ad in the center was. Both glove touches were because of that stupid huge ad in the center which is a slicker surface than the actual ring material.
Those things are ruining good boxing.
B Hop didn't think so.
The technical rules say if your glove touches after a punch (even if it's a slip) it's a knock down. So long as your foot didn't cause a trip.
What really caused it was that stupid logo in the center of the ring. They commented on it earlier in the Dawson fight. How both the fighters were losing footing.
That needs to get fixed, the advertisements need to be made into the ring material, they have slick surfaces and are causing problems.
dawson hurt adamek and pascal
Really? When?
When he wasn't hurt fighting both those guys? Oh yeah, both those guys *really* hurt him. Including Adamek putting him down and he was lucky to get away late in that one.
He is young, has 30 wins, only 15 by KO. (That strike anyone as a young power puncher?)
