I think it's time for hopkins to hang it up, not because I don't think he has a chance to beat bute, dawson, or whoever... but because he's getting hit with stuff that he never used to.
it's a sure sign that he has lost his reflexes and if he keeps pushing it, he'll either get KTFO by a big puncher or he'll end up a vegetable in a wheelchair.
I say he should skip the dawson fight and fight bute in montreal for that one last cash grab and then retire on top. what more could he ask for?
Pascal is limited but tough. Hopkins had to fight less defensively to make his point in Canada, especially after the draw they stuck him with last time. And a she admitted, he's still going strong at 46, but he's still 46. Not surprised he took some shots in the fight. He'd be more inclined to be tentative if his opponent had more power, but Pascal isn't a puncher and Hopkins does have a good beard. I'm not worried about him or critical of him over the performance.
Calzaghe has pillows for fist he doesn't count
True true. He was always slap punching. But compubox last night was much like the first fight. Pascal had like 15% connect percentage. Hopkins has taken more than that in many fights, including the one against Roy Jones early in his career.
Shut the fuk up you know nothing of what you talk about. Of course he's going to get hit more because he's opening up his game and becoming more offensive. He's becoming more exciting and giving fans what we want to see. He's trying to end his career on a bang. He's as good now as he's ever been. Why don't you log of boxingscene for a while.
even hopkins admitted thet hes getting hit more because his age.
thet being said it was a great win for hopkins and he should retire now cause theres really know one that could be as big a win as last nights performance
Never hit that much?
Calzaghe landed more punches on Hopkins than he did on anyone up to that point in his career. (Including Lacey).

The man didn't want to get robbed again. Seriously did you see his face after the fight? I didn't notice any swelling and he looked as fresh in round 12 as he did in round 1. The man banged out pushups before round 7 and after round 12. He never even looked distressed, he looked completely in control last night and the fight was not as close as the cards reflected. He not only should, but in my opinion needs to fight both Dawson and Ward. Pass the torch to the next (hopefully) good/great American fighters. Even if he he beats them he gets them in the limelight. He made Pascal look bad last night and he made the judges give him the win. He's not going to go from how he looked last night to how RJJ looked yesterday over the course of one fight, no way.
He got hit because in order to win in Canada he had to FIGHT.
Hopkins is fine and outside of Ward I dont see any 168 pounder beating him and no 175 Pounder beating him.
i was under the assumption that in order to win you had to fight no matter what country you're in.
but that's just me.

false... in order to win all he needed to do was not get knocked down.
His defense was still excellent for the most part.
almost doesn't count... especially considering dude will be pushing 50 soon
He got hit with some huge shots, but Pascal is a pretty awkward fighter.
yep... just imagine if pascal had stamina... hopkins would be in big trouble
His reflexes have slipped,
exactly... he shouldn't stick around too long
but he still made Pascal look like an amateur, something Dawson never made him do.
hopkins makes a lot of boxers look like amatuers... can't count on this argument

Most of us have been waiting for Hopkins to open up for years ! Now that he has you want him to go away ? Considering his defense he hasn't sustained much damage during his long and now historical caeer. I say go for it Bernard !!! You've never been more marketable or as exciting as a fighter. Boxers take risks every time they lace them up at least yours will be rewarded $$$. :nutkick:

dude , it's a bad sports year for me.
bears got knocked out by the packers on the way to their super bowl.
lakers got swept.
san francisco giants fans hiring planes to fly "world champion" banners over dodger stadium.
hopkins passed foreman's record.
juanma lopez got ktfo.
pacquiao stunk out the joint against mosley.
All sound pretty good to me ha ha.
Well you always have the Laker, o wait...:D

Give the man his one defense.

c'mon... cokezaghe didn't land punches... he landed slaps
He got hit but never really looked hurt. He both outmuscled and outboxed a really good fighter in Pascal. He's not Holyfield or Roy Jones. He can keep going. Dawson certainly isn't going to hurt him and Froch hasn't shown real KO power in a while. I'd maybe be slightly worried about Bute.
