Fighters that, when you think analytically, are nearly Hall Of Fame material if they... what?
I think Adamek beating Vitali would make him a possible candidate. You see a Light Heavyweight Brawler with above average everything then get nearly shut out by Chad Dawson, blink twice, and suddenly see a three weight world champion with a very good win/loss and title wins over the best at Cruiserweight and Heavyweight.

Literally, no chance what so ever.
The others most likely won't either. Some might, maybe.
You're reaching with those.
Well I'm not saying those are great names but where solid wins in Cotto's career. Bailey and Torres where huge punchers and very dangerous at the time he fought them.
On David Haye,
Preface: I did mean compared to what fighters usually fight. Very Kostya Tszyu like beginning to his career.
6th fight - KO'd Lolenga Mock in four rounds. Mock has never been KO'd by anybody else but fought Lucian Bute, Charles Brewer, and Mario Viet.
k.
KO'd super middleweight at cruiserweight :headbang:
If Haye somehow manages to beat the Kiltschkos, he has to be there. I don't think he'll do it but it'd be a fantastic achievement for someone who's naturally about 215lbs at most.
McGuigan was able to bring a bitterly divided Ireland together as they cheered him on as he fought, if only for one night. That's pretty historic. He did beat a legend, an old legend but a legend all the same. Eusebio Pedroza held the title for years and years, McGuigan was able to take that title from him. Granted he did lose to Stevie Cruz but McGuigan is still loved and cherished in his country. Skill wise McGuigan falls short but crossing over and having that kind of drawing power that he had to unite two fueding sides is amazing. I think that he deserves it.........Rockin':boxing:
Then again the much much more deserving Eddie Booker isn't in the HOF.
I can see some saying Cotto maybe shouldn't get in. I vote yes but was on fence at first.
His only losses are to an all time great and Hall of famer Pacquiao and a cheating scumbag that probably was using loaded gloves. So only 1 legit loss and no shame in it.

6th fight - KO'd Lolenga Mock in four rounds. Mock has never been KO'd by anybody else but fought Lucian Bute, Charles Brewer, and Mario Viet.
9th fight - KO'd former world champion Arthur Williams in three rounds.
10th fight - KO'd by Carl Thompson, but gave as good as he got and gassed early.
Also knocked out Fragomeni who went on to challenge for a belt and I believe win it. Former title challenger Glen Kelly is there early on as well.
I think it's impressive when a fighter is in with tough gatekeepers, former title challengers, and former champions that early on and knocking them out.
Gaye was a World Amateur silver medalist. Compare his early career resume to that of Olympians and such. Andre Ward, a gold medalist, took a long time to face a Lolenga Mock or Arthur Williams.
Not HOF persay but it adds to what he did later, I think.
Cotto is a 3 division champion, there's others whom have done less that are in there so don't sleep on him, besides he still has a long career to add to his resume. JMM is a sure shot
Cotto and Margarito at one point I thought was on the Road to being HOF fighters but now, Margarito probably has NO CHANCE and Cotto...I Don't Know, he may still have a chance, getting revenge against Margarito (if he can fight again) would help
JMM is already a LOCK! Glen Johnson is well respected and people know he been robbed of fights in his career many of times, so he may have a chance, defeating Froch would help and somehow winning the Super 6 would REALLY HELP!
Naw Adamek is no where close to the hall of fame. He could sto

most of the folk in NSB couldn't pick out a hall of famer out of the line up if his name wasn't manny, floyd, oscar, or bernard

Yea, Miguel has a case to go to the Hall of Fame first round pick. Although, he needs a defining win against someone dangerous like Sergio Martinez or at least attempt to clear out the Junior Middleweight division. A win against Canelo Alvarez will surely be a good thing to have in his resume.
David Haye is in if he beats Wlad. People forget, he was knocking out world class fighters from the start of his career just about. But what if he only almost wins?
really? like who?
I think every Hall of Famer needs a signature. An answer to why. Why Cotto? He has no signature and the only one available is beating Martinez or Mayweather. I doubt he does.
There's a reason why people ask about Gatti and that's because he has a signature (and then some). You can put him in and then say why. Cotto has more belts, more talent, and better wins. Nothing "special" though. All those come from behind wins and great great fights from Gatti are "special" - with a belt or two as well.
Calzaghe is pretty much sure fire because no matter the reality or fraudulence of it he has great stats. It's mostly "accepted" now to call him a legend.
Glen Johnson, thought of him. Winning the Super Six would be undeniable.

JMM is a sure fire HOF'er.
Cotto is questionable. I would be quite suprised if he made it.
I agree with this. Marquez is one title away from becoming the first Mexican to win titles in 4 weight classes. I doubt he does it against Pacquiao though. After the Pac fight, if he didn't get beaten in to retirement, he should go back down to 140 and try to win his 4th title there.
I agree Cotto ain't a Hall Of Famer.
