For those of you who have noticed a recent up tick in the racially motivated hate mongering, you are not alone. As fans of the sweet science however, we must not become distracted. Bernard Hopkins has accomplished that which no man has accomplished (no white man, asian man, hispanic, near eastern, black, whatever!!) in the sport of boxing, and that was win a championship at the age of 46. This cannot be tainted by bickering over things like the Calzaghe debacle or identifying nonexistent double standards based on racist tribalism.
This trend is not unique. Black Americans for the long duration of boxing have been the pillars of the sport. More records are held by black Americans, more black Americans occupy the top 10 fighters list, more Black Americans dominate the sport of boxing than any other. This should not be a source of pride among black people, as pride should derive solely from individual accomplishment (or possibly those of family, friends, and nationality). Self-esteem should be internally driven. So those bashing Manny Pacquaio in the spirit of competition, more power to you since that's a different kind of hate. Those bashing him because he isn't Black, shame on you. Honestly, I haven't sensed a lot of that but this post is aimed at being impartial.
Now, to those intimidated by Hopkins' recent exploits, do not worry, it isn't starting some radical revolution so no need to go on a rampage attacking Black people. The fact is that those who do are pathetic low lives with no self esteem. So we have people like "Brutal Honesty" making various threads expressing his hate for Blacks, with surprisingly quite a few supporters. I chalk this up some of the less acculturized, mainly off the boat immigrants who think being racist is a way to fit in in America and also to the low IQed red necks like brutal honesty who don't have a lot of contact with Blacks or where the few they've had were genuinely negative causing them to reinforce the prior prejudice they had and further seclude themselves while spewing the same vitriol on web forums (obviously because it's easier to do than up close and personal).
In summary, yes, African-Americans have made the biggest contributions to boxing. That this would intimidate anyone or ruin their world only means that your self-esteem is based on some racial solidarity and not on your own individual accomplishments, which tells all of us intelligent folk that your real day to day life is pretty darn pathetic.
Congratulations to Bernard Hopkins! -ATG
To be fair, I think sport dominance is mostly driven by socio-economics.
Sports that are relatively inexpensive to play (basketball for example) are usually dominated by minorities, such as blacks. It's also a cultural thing.
Sports that are expensive to play (such as golf and hockey) are dominated by white people.
Excellent point. In the end, physical sports that can be played (or in the case of boxing unfortunately must) be played out in the street are dominated by the poor. You grow up fighting? Become a fighter. Inner anger and physically gifted? Play football or box or basketball. Grow up with money? Play hockey or lax. In the end this sport is dominated by the POOR, and as a kid who grew up in a low-middle income family I still take pride in that. I love to see hard work pay off.
Oh, one more thing
Calzaghe > Hopkins always on an alltime great list.
hahahahhahaahhaahhahahaa....wait...wait....jhahahahahhahahahahahaah. Other than 3 hall of fame fights, how many did Zag have? (And then look at a top 50 list)
im going off topic here but thread starter, I hope you aren't one of those afro cenrtic idiots who thinks egyptians were sub saharan african do you? :lol1: just looking at your pro black thread and then your avatar made me laugh.
Ancient Egyptians were actually a wide mix of peoples. Sumerian, Greek, Assyrian, Babylonian, etc. Egypt was conquered and influenced by all those. And yes, there's DNA evidence that 30-40% of the upper nile population from various grave sites had what is commonly called "negroid" characteristics in bone structure, etc.
Not to get tooooooo off topic.
Pac fought Cotto, Clottey and Margarito
Margarito fought Cotto, Clottey, Shane and Pac
Cotto fought Margarito, Clottey, Shane and Pac
Clottey fought Cotto, Margarito and Pac
Shane fought Cotto, Margarito, and Floyd
Floyd fought Shane.
Can you find the kitty cat?
This can be updated now that Shane and Pac fought.

Hopkins is afraid of year round random blood testing,
even though, the company he works for,
calls for Olympic style blood testing for another fighter.
Does anyone else find this a bit odd?

The way your thread is written doesn't help. It seems to simply want to incite people who might not be a certain skin color....
African Americans have been passed in the sport by Mexicans and Europeans
No Question the World Has Caught Up To America when it comes to Boxing And Some Are Currently Ahead of Them Now!
But...dominating for a 3-5 years still doesn't match the DECADES OF DOMINATION from American Fighters (not just Blacks by the way, also the Italian Americans, Mexican Americans)
American Boxing is going down the hill. It started in the 1990's with collapse of the USSR and end of Cold War. Mexico/Europe been taking over. Look at these FOTY, only real american on the list is Micky Ward and Augustus, Diaz and Corales both mexicans.
If you look 40 years ago it wouldve been 100% Americans. Now in the last 11 years theres only been 2. They dont want to give the fans a show, they just want to run around for 12 rounds complaining, lazy ass.

what a hypocrite... TS accuses others of deriving their self-esteem from racial solidarity, and yet derives his own self-esteem from AA boxers....
I have posted on this forum before, I think it is a lot of ENVY and JEALOUS towards Blacks/African Americans because of their RICH HISTORY IN BOXING...NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! A History that can't and will not be MATCHED!
I love my Cuban fighters of course and I support most of them...BUT I am a fan of MANY FIGHTERS...REGARDLESS OF RACE...but on this forum it seems like some type of ANTI AMERICAN FIGHTER/ANTI-Black/African American Movement going on, people bash them every chance they get...I am laughing my a$$ off at how people are trying to be CRITICAL OF Chad Dawson after he dominated his fight against a Solid Opponent
But you can't take this board serious, everybody is TOUGH on the internet, most of these guys are LITTLE KIDS posting stupid stuff FOR ATTENTION, probably the type of kids who get picked on at school all day then they come on, jump on their computer and try to act tough
but NO QUESTION people are INTIMIDATED, ENVIOUS and many of them have a Inferiority Complex when it comes to Black/African American Fighter, if they didn't then they wouldn't have to bring up RACE and feel the need to Attack or Talk NEGATIVE about them ALL THE TIME...and many of them are just RANDOM ATTACKS!
But when a Forum allows these attacks to go on...WHAT DO YOU EXPECT!

This idiot didn't read a word of what I wrote, he's still, like an idiot child, talking about "race saviors" and self-esteem derived from others. You have quickly exposed yourself as one of the losers alluded to in the OP.

Great post.
Racists are all over this board. They will defend themselves. When you call some one a racist, another racist will come to defend that racist, saying he's not a racist.
Most of the posts against black fighters are racially driven, nothing else.
Chad Dawson threw over 600 punches, landed at 39%, landed 60% of his power punches, came forward all night, this was his comeback fight since last August. He was "boring", "didn't impress", "doesn't have the fire". This was his comeback fight against a top 10 dangerous LHW. Diaconu was on the back foot for almost the whole fight, nobody says anything about him.
Yet Margarito comes back in his comeback fight against Garcia and looks like shit, and "he did good".
Pavlik struggles against Lopez winning a close fight against an unknown, "Pavlik is back!".

i actually think you have a chip on your shoulder, if black people are hoping that a 46 year old racist is there saviour of black peoples decline in boxing the good luck.
Hopkins is a a horrible racist that got schooled by a white guy calzaghe.
The heavyweight division is currently being dominated by white guys in the most dominant fashion ever.
We are all equal, the only reason black people excelled in boxing in the past was that it was a horrible sport of brutality, that only people from poor backgrounds did.
Asains, whites, indians etc excel over blck people at school, so become lawyers, doctors etc, why risk health like roy jones, when you cn earn money academically.
blatant racist post from you...
