I don't think Atlas is entirely fair. I think DLH has had some very close big fights that could have gone either way. In this fight however I think DLH should be ashamed of himself and give refunds to everyone who paid to see the fight. I always had a lot of respect for oscar. Even with that shady "ko" he suffered against Hopkins. But quiting on your stool against a much smaller man and then turning around and pocketing 20 mill makes me sick. Fvck Oscar...
I do think that this fight will happen. Unfortunately neither of them will be in their prime and the luster will be a fraction of what it would have been when they were in their prime. And you know what? It really pisses me off because these 2 guys had the ability to bring boxing back into mainstream prominance again. I mean this could have turned into a classic trilogy that generated a ton of discussion and excitement. When you have that power it comes with a responsibility to the sport and the fans. Basically they have screwed us. And I don't care whose fault it is. I'm pissed at both of them because should have stepped up and made this fight happen. And these guys now that they can wait a few more years and still get a huge ppv purse, but it's we boxing fans that suffer. they are both a couple of cunts.
137 miles away
And I'm sure that made all the difference?
I like both of these guys and was able to watch the fight with no bias. Anyone who thinks this was a robbery is a retard, simple as that. The fight could have been scored 115-113 for either guy but i think a draw was really the fairest decision. It was the fight of the year and all this whining just detracts from it.
Winky is a competitor, and competitors don't take defeat or draws well.
Technically speaking, Winky beat Jermain in my book. Jermain has been very lucky to survive the last three fights.
I'm sure Winky will change his mind, and take on Jermain again for a nice PPV gate.
Knuckles
I think you're right about that.
Right...like Taylor did anything to take away Hopkins belts either.
I'd say outlanding the champ in pretty much every round while showing better efficiency and defense is enough to take away his belts.
lol, you're still pissed about your boy Hopkins. You need to let it go. He looked great against Tarver. If hopkins had fought taylor like he fought Tarver he would have won. You can't cry like a bitch when you take the first half of the fight off. Sorry bro.
You're hatred and resentment for Taylor is evident though and that does make me snicker. :D
Hopkins seems to have finally let it go, perhaps his fans should as well.
He did enough to win that fight. He clearly won that last round.. what did taylor do? nothing.. Another HBO poster boy getting home town decisions..
You're stoned. You sound like just another Taylor hater. If you can't acknowledge it was a very close fight then you are either clearly biased for Winky or just not too bright.
A couple rounds could have gone either way. Winky landed more but Jermain landed with greater authority. Simple as that.
You guys are hilarious. Winky never cried like a bitch, he simply stated his case. He did out land Taylor by a wide margin but Taylor did land the more solid blows. Winky leaving the ring after the decision is nothing man. Hell, I left the ring and was in the dressing room while they announced one of my wins.
Winky is not a bitch or a punk. At the moment he was upset about the decision and voiced his disapproval of it. While he did say that he didnt want to fight him again, I believe that was just the immediate emotion speaking. I think that they will fight again, just not in Taylors territory. It was a just and fair decision in my opinion but your decisions that he is a punk and a bitch are not just and in any way credible.
Rockin' :boxing:
I was a winky fan and a taylor fan. I thought it was a great and very close fight. Like I said I don't really have a problem with the draw because it was that close. These fools saying that Winky clearly dominated are either taylor haters or just stupid. And say what you want, but Wright's comments after the fight made him look bad. "boo-hoo I was robbed! Boo-hoo, I don't want a rematch!". Hopefully he settles down and shows a little more class tomorrow. But for now he looks like a bitch.
Of course that is just my opinion.
I thought the draw was fair. If you are one of those ignorant Taylor haters who thought Winky dominated go ahead and put me on ignore. I won't lose any sleep.
Anyone who thinks an undfeated champion is gonna loose a close decition in his home town, has not been watching boxing long enough.
you would need to literally kill Jermaine inorder to beat him over there
It wasn't in his home town. But obviously Winky didn't do nearly enough to strip the title away from Taylor.
Winky acted like a bitch.
It was a GREAT fight! I don't have a real problem with the draw, but Winky is deluding himself if he thought he clearly dominated.
Fuck winky if he doesn't have the balls to do it with tasylor agian. I used to like him a lot and I did right up until hearingbhim cry like a bitch. Maybe it's just the heat of the battle.
We'll see what he says tomorrow.
Taylor retained his belts, simple as that!!
Winky didn't do enough to take them away and that is the fact. If anyone has a right to be pissed it's Taylor but he is a gentleman. Not a crybaby like his previous 2 challengers.
Yaeh it's all about the HBO bias. Yeah it's all about the home crowd effecting the judging.
LMAO!! Too rich. :p

Holyfield really needs to hang em up before he is hurt bad permanantly. He needs a close friend or relative to sit him down and talk him out of this delusion he is laboring under. He deserves to be remembered as a great champ with great heart. Not a guy who hung around so long he was crippled and brain damaged.
Why is everyone hating on Tarver. The guy had a bad night, and BHOP had a great night. now everyone talks as if Tarver has never been good. He is 37 years old, some guys age faster than others. I'm not sure what his problem was last night, but he just wasn't throwing. In the 4th and eighth rounds Taver actually threw a few combos and won those rounds easy. Not sure why he didn't do it the whole fight, but thats on him. But for people to be calling him a bum, is just crazy, u can praise one guy with out downing the other.
Great post. I agree completely.
I actually felt bad for Byrd and for him to a interview after the fight, is pure class.
I agree 100%.
Byrd made his largest payday ever so I don't feel too bad though. :D
I don't even have Lewis in my top 10 HW of all time, putting him in top 10 P4P is criminal.
Agreed. You could make an arguement for him towards the bottom of the top 10 heavies. But p4p, the guy doesn't break the top 50.
He will be remembered as a top 7-12 heavyweight. No way in hell does he crack the top 5. Getting KTFO twice by a couple of journeymen puts an end to that argument.
I have to believe he wont.....this can turn out to be as big a blowout as wright vs trinidad was..i think taylor makes way too many mistakes and he will get destroyed by wright.
I like Winky a lot but I don't think the fight will be anywhere near as one-sided as you think.
what exactly is the point of the thread? The fight is over 6 months away. Anything can happen in that time. De La Hoya is notorious for pushing back big fights, part of the mind games and I would love to place a bet that he does the same thing here.
You were wrong. Again...:nana:
Just out of curiosity, do any non-Mexicans actually care about May 5th? I mean if there was not a big fight tonight, would anyone care about this so called holiday? Before some idiot gets offended, I'm not flaming, just asking...
