Already on his path to greatness. No one can argue Taylor's resume (just the fighters, not the actual close decisions).
He has already fought two of the best at this stage of his career.
And fought Hopkins I, Hopkins II and Winky back to back to back.
Remember Taylor vs Hopkins #1p4p, vs Winky #3 p4p
A green, young, inexperienced and technically flawed Taylor didn't lose to bums...
Winky and Hopkins' styles were never meant to make you look halfway decent...Taylor fought his heart out vs 2 of the three best defensive and smartest and most experienced UNDISPUTED champions in the world...of this era...in 3 fights
no Gainers or Hakkars here...
Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins - Undisputed Middleweight Champion of the World and #1 Pound for Pound.
when they fought...
Ronald "Winky" Wirhgt - Former Undisputed Jr. Middleweight Champion of the World and #3 Pound for Pound.
when the fought...
I had it 115-113 for Taylor.
But all you need to know about who really won the fight was in the post fight interviews.
Taylor: "I'll fight anyone anywhere anytime and if he wants to fight again lets do it.
Winky: "I dont want no rematch"
I had Winky up 115-113. There were a few tough rounds to score, great fight though. I actually thought WInky won the 12th round. He was right, Taylor did nothing that last round. Not at all as contraversial of a round as people make it seem.
Whassup old friend. I hear where you're coming from, but if he wasn't getting hit clean why does his face look like a pound of hamburger. Those shots split his gloves a majority of the time and still sting.
Headbutts my friend. There were probably about 4 clashes of heads, two they replayed showing Wright catching Taylors head on his browbone and eye.
I'm not saying Taylor didn't land ANYTHING, because he clearly landed a lot of clean shots....I just feel like many folks here and the judges gave Taylor too much credit for hitting Wright when the punches didn't land.
Winky won. Idk how u people gave it to Taylor. I'm done. u people need to wake up. winky had him against the ropes, landed more shots, and was stunned a couple times. winky got hit with what? two, three power shots?? i just dont understand it.
I mean since when do blocked and grazing shots outweight CLEAN punching? Christ almighty I think this might happen in every single Taylor fight for the rest of time.
I had it 7-4-1 Wright with the 9th being an even round.
this is pretty close to how i scored it minus the even round which i gave to taylor. winky deflected a lot of shots that lampley and them were building up as 'big right hands'
Hitting a guy on the gloves shouldn't count. I don't care how energetic or stylistic Taylor looks while he's throwing, if the punches are blocked, they are blocked.
The last round was Winky's. Winky landed more, and throughout the fight, showed ring generalship.
Let's just say that Taylor survived on flashy punches landed on Winky's gloves.
Winky landed more punches but Taylor had the more power behind his shots.. I think a draw is the right decision in a fight this close. I hope Winky decides to take the rematch.
Wright outlanded Taylor, just did an absolute job on him with the jab. Outlanded him pretty much EVERY round and outlanded him overall in power shots and jabs. He also showed better defense and beat the hell out of Taylor on the outside of the ring.
I had it 7-4-1 Wright with the 9th being an even round.
