Just out of curiosity, do any non-Mexicans actually care about May 5th? I mean if there was not a big fight tonight, would anyone care about this so called holiday? Before some idiot gets offended, I'm not flaming, just asking...
what exactly is the point of the thread? The fight is over 6 months away. Anything can happen in that time. De La Hoya is notorious for pushing back big fights, part of the mind games and I would love to place a bet that he does the same thing here.
You were wrong. Again...:nana:
I will now bump this, after posting it 6 months ago. It is finally here.
"Golden Boy" Oscar De La Hoya will beat Floyd "Pretty Boy" Mayweather Jr. tonight in 12 round decision. Oscar will celebrate by wearing his sombrero and eating his tacos and burritos on Cinco De Mayo! :fingersx:
YYYYEEEEPPPPPPPPPAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
good dedication man, you made this thread along ass time ago and here it is man. And just like I said back then, Oscar by Late Stoppage. VIVA DE LA HOYA VIVA MEXICO!!!!

My heart say Oscar by Ko, but my brain say Mayweather by close decision. So Mayweather by close decision, but i hope Oscar can catch him with a huge left hook. Go Oscar !

Is Cinco De Mayo a specific date or just the first Saturday in May? Please explain, thanks.
Derby is first Saturday in May. Cinco de Mayo is what it says: the 5th of May.
Oscar usually tries to fight Cinco de Mayo weekend, which could mean fighting on the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th depending on where it falls. Basically, Oscar fights on Derby day, whether or not it happens to be Cinco de Mayo.
that fight is going to happen on cinco de mayo weekend. it is a ploy to get the mexican american crowd to bump up the PPV numbers.
as for the fight, its on my 2007 calender.
I'm really eyeing Jermain Taylor's next fight. Jermain isn't having a full training camp with Emmanuel Steward again. I hope he starts using that jab more.
December 9th...
i can't wait period, fight or no fight, we party down out here in vegas for Cinco De Mayo. my buddy owns a pub and we rock out!
but as far as the fight is concerned i wouldn't be surprised if DLH or Mayweather has something come up from now until then. that's nothing out of the ordinary in boxing. it's actually out of the ordianary that a fight goes according to schedule to be honest. but i think that it would be detrimental to the sale of the fight if something were to happen and the fight wasn't that weekend. a lot more mexican fans would tune in on that day/weekend more so than any other weekend, and that would affect PPV's, and that weekend would get more hype too. but nothing is safe in boxing really. like i said it would be more out of the ordinary if the fight went on without a hitch........................
itll be huge, im not really that excited yet, its over 6 months away, but in the month or 2 before the fight its gonna be hard to keep focus on much of anything. lol
And De La Hoya pushing a fight of this caliber backward, would be like stabbing his fans in their backs. he wouldnt do it
Oscar is set on Cinco de Mayo. He loves fighting on that weekend. The Vargas fight was supposed to be on Cinco de Mayo too, but Oscar got hurt. That's the only thing I can see postponing this fight. And it will be the biggest fight of my lifetime. Can't wait.
