that's what I was saying. AJ looked far better with Robert Garcia.
Garcia was a bum though. If you watch the Uysk fight he was telling AJ he was winning every round. Then complained afterwards that AJ didn't do enough and was mentally defeated. Garcia just trying to protect his own reputation and ego. Lost count the number of times Garcia badmouthed AJ in the press. You know one thing about AJ - is he works hard.
Really AJ didn't need to change trainers - could any trainer make him beat Usyk? This is just a stupid way to think
I don't think Hatton has a reputation for being a hard hitter. He knows where to place body punches for maximum effect. He often hits fighters with a lot of headpunches and doesn't seem to do much damage. He bullies fighters and wins by volume of punches. I like his style - it is exciting and he just keeps going. I have seen him tired a lot in the later stages and he looks like he could be taken out quite easily at this time.
Hatton - happy with training and likes Bon Jovi apparently :)

Looking forward to the fight anyway. I still think its fifty/fifty.
I will be pleased to see Floyd back. I think he will be wanting to fight Manny or Hatton too. I think it was a waste of time retiring. Boxers don't have many years to get their fights in as it is.
I am not a proper fan of Floyd but I appreciate the way he boxes. He doesn't even have to break a sweat to win matches and it makes people jealous. That's why there are so many haters. He could actually do with a Joe Fraiser to his Ali, someone to really test him properly.
I dunno. I not particularly a fan of him, but I like that he's arrogant. I always find arrogant fighters amusing. Listening to Naseem Hamed talk was always hilarious too. What's funnier is that *they* are not in on the joke.
I think Mayweather is a great fighter. I think most boxing fans appreciate and understand the way he fights. Not sure why he has retired - I don't like that at all. He has never had a defining fight. That's what he needs and he won't get one if he is retired.
I read in the paper it is probably on course to have the biggest audience (live at the event). Previously the biggest was Hatton - Lazcano (which was obviously not much of a worldwide event)
I dunno but I feel bad for Haye in this fight - he's not getting paid properly. isn't he just getting TV money from UK TV? and 0% of the purse. I would be ashamed if I was Klitschko - give the guy some money! (must be a lot of money too) Look at Klitschko looking all hard done by when Haye says he wants to cut off his head.
Calzaghe wins - because he never loses. He gets up from the canvas and wins. People always say Calzaghe will lose, but then he wins - get over it :) People say he slaps but like Roy Jones said 'those slaps are harder than I thought'
Froch fought similiarly against Pascal and won that too. He really needs to tighten his style up. You have to give him credit for coming back from the knockdown and finishing Taylor in the 12th, especially since he tooks so many shots! - 'heart' can be just as important as skill. He will get hurt bad if he keeps fighting like this. I don't understand what he does in training - must be just fitness work :) Everytime he lowered his arms he seemd to get hit hard - but he still kept doing it!
I thought Manny looked better than Hatton too. And no one won the face off. Manny tapped Hatton's arm then they shook hands at the end. I don't think there is any bad feeling between them - sometimes you can't fake it - it's more between the trainers.
Yes I do agree with you GRUSTLER - I do kind of think that too, I think a lot of people are overlooking that fact and are saying Manny will win easily. I do see it as a fifty-fifty fight at the moment.
In another thread I said that I didn't honestly know which way to call this fight, and that the result will be obvious when the fight is over. I said this becasue if Hatton wins people will say well look he is king at this weight (undefeated) and who has Manny fought before at this weight? so it was obvious that Hatton would win. And most people think Pacquiao is the better fighter (though not at this weight) so if he wins people will say it was obviously going to happen.
I think maybe after a round we will be able to see what the result wll be. It does come down to how strong Pacquiao is at the weight. At the moment Hatton has just as much chance of winning.
Looking forward to it too! :)
That was awful... AJ's mind seems to be in a different place now... Not Championship worthy ... Oh well ..
I picked this fight right. People were underestimating Franklin. Anyone who said AJ would steamroller him were living in their own head. Franklin almost beat Whyte who is a definite top-6. You got to read fights right, not through biases about what you think should happen
Very pleased Floyd is coming back! - waste of f**king time retiring though. Seriously wasted years. People just don't like him because he is so good. Who cares that he is arrogant? it's not like he is my friend! sometimes you have to be a certain way to get the right mind set. I have heard some good things about him from interviewers in private time, which suggests he is no so bad. But when you wear a mask too long - it sticks.
I was disappointed in Hatton's 'performance' I was expecting a great fight and it was over almost as soon as it started. Like has been said elsewhere he was moving in a straight line and he wasn't keeping his hands up. I think he was too confident that Manny couldn't hurt him. Fight was over first time he got wobbled.
Looking back at the people Hatton has beaten - you have to question how good he actually is. Castillo was obviously not comfortable at the weight, and he struggled against Kostya Tsyzu and could have lost that if things had gone differently on the night. Would have liked the fight to go on longer because you didn't really get to see from this fight how Hatton compares to Pacquiao
Looking forward to Mayweather/Pacquiao now! - should be good:)
Don't take much notice of what trainers and boxer say before a fight - most of it is said for psychological reasons. Most of it is bullsh*t.
Ricky Hatton left Billy Graham because Billy was becoming slow and wouldn't admit it. Ricky said that was the worst part that he wouldn't admit it. He seems to be happy with Floyd Sr.
I honestly have no idea what will happen in the Pacquiao fight. It will probably seem obvious after it happens! I just remember stuff like when Shane Mosley was god and then he got beat up (twice?) by Vernon Forest. Nothings for certain. The smart money's on Pacquiao but wasn't it on De La Hoya before their fight?
I was reading what Jim Watt said about this fight in Sky Mag (TV mag). I think he's right. He said 'Pacquiao is the better fighter. Its just depends on if he can deal with Ricky Hatton at the weight'. I think this is a correct reading of this fight , because Castillo clearly had trouble with 'the weight' when he fought Hatton, and Hatton won easily and you could see Castillo being pushed around the ring and really feeling the punches. Ricky Hatton has never lost at this weight?
If Pacquiao has no problem then he will win good. He has fought better opponents too so we know he is the better fighter.
Underestimated Franklin ? I don't think I did ... He was exactly what I expected ... A slow, low skilled, average top 50 HW ... AJ failed ...
Stupid comment. Franklin is skilled, has a great chin and only lacks power.
IMO, to get Joshua some confidence, he needs a big, hittable dude who will crumble when he lands. Franklin is a B level guy, but he quick and durable, which makes AJ uncomfortable. If he's gonna come back in the summer, they need to get him a guy like Helenius, Washington or Kownacki who will fall to pieces once the artillery lands.
Fury might take the Joshua fight now. This has got to give Fury some confidence
