The man was fighting a featherfisted, Paulie Malignaggi who was only fighting with 1 arm after the 3rd round and Hatton couldnt ever knock him down.
Jose Luis Castillo was his only knockout in 4 years and he was just as much of a zombie coming into the fight as delahoya was against pacquiao.
The man couldnt knockout Lascano, Collazo, or Urango. 2 of the 3 are walking punching bags.
So i'd like to know where this myth comes from
he couldnt knock paulie down cause paulie was holding on for dear life
nah, hatton got wild and sloppy toward the end that's why he never knocked down paulie again.
you know you kinda caught me with this thread and maybe we do take it for granted that he is a real power puncher
however i think you can tell from face value just by watching him fight that he can punch. but maybe it is overrated somewhat like you say
i have noticed that he smothers his own work a lot and doesn't often connect good, clean punches though. and when he does it looks hurtful
to be fair, cotto couldn't ko malignaggi either, that guy has a good chin.
Cotto broke his hand in that fight plus he was weight drained. Hatton doesn't really have power the only one of note he knocked out was an old out shape Castillo.
I don't think Hatton has a reputation for being a hard hitter. He knows where to place body punches for maximum effect. He often hits fighters with a lot of headpunches and doesn't seem to do much damage. He bullies fighters and wins by volume of punches. I like his style - it is exciting and he just keeps going. I have seen him tired a lot in the later stages and he looks like he could be taken out quite easily at this time.

I have been watching Hatton fights for years and he got the majority of his knockouts before the Tsyzu fight. He has had like 2 ko's in the last 7 fights and these are the fights in which he has stepped up the competition.
Hatton does have power but not one punch power. Most of his fights are won by accumilation.
i agree, most of hatton's KOs were against bums in manchester
no but how the **** do you know if Pacqiao hits harder when he has never fought at 140 and only fought one time above lightweight?
yea but the 2 fights he moved up in weight were both stoppages in 9.
it comes from his previous fights, when he was fighting at domestic level and when he was fighting guys that were either shit or shot, look at this fights as the opposition got better, he couldnt put them away
From his 32-33 KO's out of 46 pro fights.

This website is a f***ing joke. After tonight when Hatton knocks Pacquiao the f**k out, I'm leaving this shithole..
good bye... don't come back
j/k... we'll miss you
The same Lazcano that had only been stopped once in 10 years and when 24 rounds with prime Castillio without getting put on the canvas.
try thinking before you type, idiot.
As for Journeyman David "Only got a title shot to gift Morales a belt back" Diaz, he's a fcuking joke, the reason his only loss is to Holt (By brutal Ko faster than Pac) is because he's never fought anyone.
The man was arguably the rightful lineal lightweight champion at the time. Knocking out Jose Armando Santa Cruz after he dropped what was dubbed robbery of the year by ring magazine to Joel Cassamayor. Fought nobody my ass.
at 140? are you kidding me? Pacquaio has good power at feater/super featherweight but that he would hit harder than Hatton at 140? no ****ing way... but then again your judging power on heavy bag videos lol
you don't even know yet if Hatton hits harder. Pacquiao skipped up to 147 and ever since he came back down he's been too strong for his sparring partners and too powerful.
Does Hatton hit harder at 147 than Pacquiao? sure doesn't look like it. That guys power can't carry at all. Mayweather isn't even a legit 147 lbder and he couldn't do anything even when he did connect.
Pacquiao probably has more power, looking at the heavy bag videos especially. Pacquiao's have that loud snapping noise, Hatton's seem more like pushes (with a bit of snap).
I'm inclined to agree Hatton isn't that big of a puncher, average perhaps.
If he couldn't KO Malignaggi, he isn't going to KO the no.1 p4p fighter in the world.
He wobbled Paulie many times, he was hanging onto Hattons legs for dear life. No-one has KOd Paulie, Hatton getting a TKO is an achievement in itself
who's had the power to KO Malinaggi? the guy fuinished the fight with a broken Jaw against Cotto FFS.
who's going to Ko Pacquiao? the guy hasn't been stopped since he was 17 years old by a low blow.
Cotto at least put Naggi down on the canvas.
tonight will be the deciding factor when I receive my 25k. (hopefully lol) I have no doubt in my mind Pacquiao will win though, and look like the bigger puncher in the process.

So you'll take that kinda power who couldnt put away a Juan Lazcano who hadnt fought in a year and a half and was a punching bag over the kind of power that knocked out David Diaz whose only previous loss was to Kendall freakin Holt who was the wbc LWW beltholder until just recently??

Who said it was a rumour? it was widely reported in the press after the fight and has never been denied by any reputable source. :loser:
Hatton has decent LWW power, i'll take that over Pac's decent Featherweight power.
I'm pretty sure we put that rumor down back when it happened, in the lead up to the Mayweather-Hatton fight.
I found a lot of shit that said that Ricky said he broke 4 of Castillo's ribs... there wasn't a whole lot other than that.
