I remember thinking it would be Canelo around this time but now I can see a pathway for Lomachenko. I just don't know if he is good enough to beat the likes of an old Manny, and Mikey Garcia.
Im not concerned what Lewis knows bc hes wrong half the time .
And so are the Furys who are smarter than him with boxing ins and outs !
Your not going to throw 2 punches at a time and have poor technical hooks with no tactical clinching with open defense and defeat Joshua in a boxing match .
Joshua is the one improving not Wilder , Lewis claim has zero to do with the ability to see who should win so the point there fighting at is irrelevant, in this case its in Joshua favor and MOST knowledgeable ppl know he should win even if they wont directly say it on camera !
As far as having to fight Wilder to claim his era ?
Well ask Lewis if he was the dominant fighter of the 90's even though he never fought Bowe ? See what double standard you get there since that guy also thinks Joshua should have moved a little quicker on his resume. lol
Never mind you're a lost cause. You already know what will happen before it happens, just like every poster before you.
I'm against this notion that the fight needs to marinate. Joshua has fought plenty of tough opponents that should make him ready for this fight now. If anything Wilder is the one who isn't really tested yet (if you look at who he has fought at least)
Well I've said before that Joshua is the younger, the long term project, and Wilder isn't going to get much better than he is already. It's more pressing for Wilder to make a move now you would think but maybe conventional wisdom will prove useless in the end.
If Joshua takes the fight now, and gets knocked out, then everyone will question Hearn saying Why did you take the fight now? Why not let it marinate while Joshua gets more experienced? Because he is taking Povetkin first, that opened the door for Warren to question him over that. So only time will tell what will happen next.
I didn't watch the Marquez bout for a long time because I never thought JMM would win but when I did watch, I was impressed by Floyd's virtuoso performance. I never watched the Berto fight. I know some fans probably never watched the McGregor bout, out of principle. I watched the replay of it.
Maybe they didn't really want to .. neither of them.
If I were the promoter I probably would schedule it for April 2019 tbh but I would work it out with the other side already like when Pacquiao and Morales both had tuneups before their rematch (which Morales lost his tuneup to Zahir Raheem btw proving things don't always go as planned).
It's good that the WBA obstructed the fight from happening? No, what would be good is if Joshua tossed the belt aside for the sake of making the bigger fight, like Golovkin did to his belt although that was a little different b/c he could have held on to it and fought Canelo so there's really no excuse for GGG.
whoever you want to blame in the end we got strung along and disappointed and that's the reason for the finger pointing. It would be spiteful to wish that Joshua or Wilder loses before April 2019 but if it doesn't happen in 2019 then fans will become more bitter about it. It's like that futurama meme, just take my damn money already!
Lewis when it comes to picking fighters or coaching fighters is not a person you should quote because we only to look at him advising david price to see he should stick to just be greta past heavyweight.
I think its more to do with the fact lewis never had the following and star power that joshua has in the uk and is slightly salty over it.
Lewis has a terrible track record of picking fighters in matchups lol
I was speaking more generally in the paragraph above it. But it doesn't matter if he's salty or if you're just making excuses to dismiss him. All that matters is whether or not it's the truth. You lot have been so absolutely arrogant with your A side crap and acting like the outcome is a forgone conclusion, that I think you're up for a real shock if Joshua fails to meet his expectations. For example, get KTFO when he is favored to win. :firedevil
This is probably the fight of Mayweather's I've watched the most times. Probably about 4 or 5 times. Which is Mayweather's fight you've watched the most times?
Joshua and Wilder won't lament the fight not getting made so long as they hold their respective belts, they still have a seat at the table. Joshua left more money on the table so needs not only to beat Povetkin but to will Wilder to victory as well.
I've been following the back and forth between Fury and Mike Tyson and the name Buster Douglas came up. Watch that fight and who is sitting ringside but Holyfield and he is thinking, what in the heck is going on here?
It's important to note plungerman's stats are for the UK. So it is clear that Canelo is a bigger draw in the U.S. and Joshua is bigger in the UK, and edges him overall although I think PPV's may be comparatively more expensive in the States. I rated Golovkin ahead of Joshua because I've insisted that the average American knows of Canelo and Golovkin before Joshua. But I would concede that based on his local popularity that Joshua is ahead of Golovkin, at least.
AGAIN...
Why did Finkel run on social media stating he's sending the contract back unsigned knowing the WBA was on Hearns back? :bottle:
How come absolutely no one was able to answer my thread, which was why does Wilder need a rematch Claus if he thinks he will win? :trink26:
I can give an answer which is that the judges may give the W to the wrong guy.
So it is the fifth spot we have some argument about with Crawford, Fury, Pacquiao being named. Maybe I was wrong for saying Crawford but I made him #5.
Well the top 4 are:
1. Joshua
2. Canelo
3. Manny
4. GGG
There doesn’t seem to be a clear #5 for this list in my opinion
Lomachenko is pulling in decent numbers on ESPN. I had him ahead of Manny by maybe Manny would draw better tonight if on regular ESPN. Maybe so would Crawford, or Mikey Garcia though draw better than Lomachenko.
Typically in this scenario you wouldn't want to look past your next opponent. WTF would Wilder sign to fight before he knows if Joshua will win vs Povetkin? But I understand these Brits are new to this sport and therefore have accepted Joshua's win as a forgone conclusion.
I change my #5 to Pacquiao rather than Crawford but that could be soon to change like by the end of today ha. Joshua could overtake Golovkin but not because of his last fight. That fight suuuucked!
Alvarez, Golovkin, Joshua, Lomachenko, Pacquiao
Uninterested in unification... whilst holding 3 of the 4 trinkets. Boxingscene logic.
Yeah but Parker's belt was seen as an easier pickup than Wilder and who is he fighting next a champion? Nope. Maybe it's just a coincidence he can't take on the stiffest challenge. We don't see Golovkin passing over Canelo for Derevyanchenko do we?
It appears as Wilder's side is prepared to budge on 50-50 and is requesting from Joshua's the new terms which is senseless to me because I have seen bigger upsets than Joshua vs Povetkin.
I'm sure Hearn probably weighed the pros and cons bc that's his job but it was ultimately Joshua's purse he was gambling with because he could lose his belts to Povetkin and Hearn will still have a job after that.
I've heard of calling someone out when you have a fight signed but not sending out a contract. They have to come back with a percentage now or Joshua has a new excuse in pricing himself out of the fight, although some will undoubtedly blame Wilder for not accepting the weasel Hearn's offer. If that happens then it is fitting that Joshua hold the WBA bc he is the new Valuev or the protected European champion who is uninterested in unification.
If the fight don't take place who is the winner ? One fighter after another 4 or 5 defences gets finallly beaten after accumilating another 100 million dollars while the other fighter gets ko'ed after 2 or 3 more fights making another 7.5 million dolllars.
Who is the winner lol
This is what Mayweather did imo is wait for someone else to beat Pacquiao and make him irrelevant. Isn't that weak though? Floyd beat Pac after Marquez brutally KO'd him and made him a bit gun shy, but he was too established by then to be made irrelevant by it. So Floyd still had to fight him but for less accolades.
