hatton is a bum got destroyed by pac and Floyd and the other 147 fight I rerember with him besides the Floyd fight was a bs decision against collazo. Hatton was way fn overrated
To be completely honest, Joe Cortez did a really awful job that night, but Hatton never had a chance vs Floyd.
His one foray into the welterweight division before his fight with Floyd was very close fight with Luis Collazo.
And to be honest, his only meaningful win in his career was that travesty of a fight against Kostya Tszyu where they did everything but tie Tszyus hands behind his back.
why did floyd retire after hatton, he had paul williams margarito mosley and cotto all looking to fight him, 4 out of the top 5 guys at ww at the time, all massive fights but he retired, any reasons for that? That was the hottest division in boxing at the time too, very very odd
Larry, Dunn, Iron Dan, Ms. Travesty, and all sav a Floyd's report to your battlestations
he fought weak comp. just because you win a title doesnt mean you're an ATG. there's about 3-4 names on his resume that stands out. the rest are bums!!! are you a hatton fan or something?
It's still an accomplishment. Do you know how taxing that would be on the body to compete and win 43 straight fights in a row?
Many elite fighters couldn't attain that record and they fought their fair share of bums too.
I'm no Hatton fan but I respect what he was able to accomplish in boxing. You're just discredting Hatton so you can discredit Mayweather and give him no credit for defeating him.
records really dont mean shiiet bruh. hatton was a bum! when floyd fought him, and when manny fought him. hatton is a bum period! dont think im saying this to throw shade at floyd, im also admitting that hatton was a bum when pac fought him. im not sure why some posters on here hold hatton to such a high standard. this dude is one of the worst. rushing in with no movements at all!
I think you need to brush up on what a "bum" is. Bums don't win world titles in boxing, bums don't have long undefeated streaks either. The bums are the guys with double digit losses, the bums are those guys who've never even challenged for a world title let alone won a world title.
Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Pacquiao, De La Hoya, Whitaker, Holyfield, Lewis, Klitsckho all couldn't attain a 43-0 record. Hatton was no all time great but he certainly as no slouch either.

and it still took TBE 10 rds to take out a weak comp. that's all.
Nice way to spin what happened to suit your argument. Hatton was 43-0 with 30 knockouts and a two time world champion. No one had stopped Hatton before Floyd faced him. So don't act like taking 10 rounds to KO an undefeated champion is some kind of personal failure.
I remember I was boxing at this time, every kid in the gym was trying that check hook during sparring, it was hilarious as you could see what they were trying to do.
Great fight.
all hatton has above his ''best'' weight is collazo. he should have stayed there is my point
But that is the point Ricky never weighed as heavy as he did with Collazo against Floyd, he said he was sluggish and would never weigh that heavy again, and he never did.
Just because the title and label was WW Ricky weighed exactly the same weight on the night as he did fighting KT, and Floyd was a pound lighter.
The Title was WW but the weight the fighters were actually fighting at was Jnr WW fight night weight.
hatton never belonged up at ww
He wasn't at WW both Floyd and Hatton were JNR WWs fighting for a WW belt, understand weights don't just look at the labels.
This sounds like a bunch of excuses. Hatton was criticized for his rough housing tactics for years. In the Tszyu fight Hatton was allowed to do almost anything and broke the rules countless times.
Cortez was trying to keep the fight clean and obviously Hatton was incapable of doing anything else but rough housing. Although I will agree that Cortez was a little too quick to break them up in the first 2 rounds, in round 3 and onward he let Hatton fight Floyd from close range and Hatton was getting his ass handed to him in the pocket. Hatton even said when he clinched with Floyd that Floyd felt bigger and stronger than he had anticipated, he also said Floyd was a better inside fighter than he thought.
If they had a rematch, I can 100 percent guarantee you Floyd would have still won.
All this is true. Hatton was vastly overrated. No doubt he was one of the few prime fighters Floyd beat but IMO without his rough housing he was not elite. Hell even with his rough housing he was not elite. Also jumping up in weight didn't help his cause either, especially with his style.
Hatton was yet another in the long line of guys NSB said would beat Floyd that didn't.
Best part for me was when the USA fans got pissed at all the drunk Brits screaming during the national anthem. Place was electric.
That was probably my favorite Floyd fight. That check hook doe!
I don't think the referee made much of a difference in the fight. It took Floyd a few rounds but once he adjusted to Hatton's style it was easy. Ricky kept doing the same thing jumping in with his chin up zero head movement and he was tagged repeatedly coming in.
Just turned it on.
I want to see something
It was good fight, but wished it was officiated better. Mayweather showcase his skills as well.
Now to guys saying Mikey, Bradley, Marquez and Khan would beat a prime Hatton, hell na.
Hatton would rough house mikey in close quarters unless hatton suddenly becomes stupid and fight in Mikey’s range.
Same for marquez, if fatty diaz was roughing marquez up, how much would a bigger heavier hatton do? Marquez also loves to have that space to hide his signature right hand behind. I think he’ll outmuscle him as well.
I think he’ll reach khan just fine and land something big inside 12 rounds that’ll crack that chin.
He’ll tie bradley up and won’t respect bradley’s power. He wins this fight on the inside.
You picked my interest and had to watch the fight again myself.
Mayweather always the tactical genius.
Check left hook. "Of a champion".
I think it was round 2, he hit Hatton with a hard left hook. 2 times.
To kind of set the tone.
I don't want to say this. He did it with Manny also, straight right in like round 1.
