Probably disgusted with the sport / wouldn’t be suprised if his heart isnt in it anymore,Because or how the 2 Canelo fights went down. Boxing is pretty much turing a blind eye and giving 2 fraudulent decisions to a drug chest . Just because he brings in lots of cash and is the right nationality.
Probably Contemplating signing and taking the big pile cash or retirement. The guys going to be 37 real soon. Ancient for a boxer especially with his style.
Canelo should have at least 4 Ls on his record ; there should be no debate he lost to
Mayweather
Lara
Golovkin (2)
I think if Canelo wasn’t judged differently from every other fighter he would have received at least 1 draw against either Trout / Cotto
It’s not only that he won fights he shouldnt have its that in every one of those fights ( except Golovkin 2) He receives at least 1 judges scorecard that is so far off the mark you wonder if their even watching the fight.
114-114 Mayweather
118-110 Golovkin
117-111 Lara
119-109 Cotto
118-110 Trout
You can’t think something isn’t up or defend it. And sure as sh.it a second judge will always give him the benefit and anytime it was ruled 7-5 in favour of Canelo or 6-6 in the first Golovkin fight . Every Judge in that gave Canelo the deciding scorecard for his undeserved win/draw
Everytime gave Canelo the 12th. How can you look at that as anything other then suspicious or corrupt
Even in the Golovkin rematch which couldn’t have repeated the scorecard f.uckery in the first fight
it was scored by 2 judges 115-113 . One of them gave Canelo 6 of the first 8 rounds and the other 6 of the first 9 . So Canelos guaranteed at least a draw by the time 2/3 of the fight is done. Not hard to give him 1 of the last 3-4 rounds for the win , by mere coincidence they both gave Canelo the 12th for the W. Not as blatant as the first but very suspicious how it was scored . More of a down low type f.uckery
Lara’s the man
One of my favourite fighters
Always Willing to take on anyone,Willing to fight even though he knows the deck will be always stacked against him when it comes to the judges because he doesn’t have a fan base . Case can be made he should be undefeated definitely no more then 1 L to Hurd.
The hes a runner or boring excuse is just that ,used by guys who don’t want to see their favourite fighter catch a L by him or in Canelos case take a rematch for his gift in the first fight.
I didn’t find it boring when he took Angulos soul , Made Canelo look like a Amateur, Beat Trout like he stole something from him or fought Hurd in the FOTY. But I guess that’s just me
Don’t even get the hate to write this thread
Mikey’s ****y , yeah so you need to be. At the end of the day he’s stepping up to face the Boogieman at WW in Spence, Who no WW wants to fight and Mikey went and chased that fight down , Let’s see how he does in 2 weeks to see if he’s right about being able to exploit Spence’s weaknesses
I already knew , but think the part of the interview that’s impressive is that as a teenager, Mikey was cutting his teeth against the best in the sport . Yeah it’s only sparring but sharing the ring with legends to hone his craft at such a young age is probably invaluable.
The fight went as expected and really wasn’t a suprise . Fury would out box Wilder and get a decision if he stayed on his feet with Wilders needing multiple KDs or KO to win
The oddsmakers basically had it a
Toss up before the fight so they knew it could go either way
Leonard’s right though there should have been a rematch to clear things up from the first fight , too bad Fury who seems to have already lost his confidence after the 12th rd KD didn’t have any interest in the possibility of getting his soul completely snatched out his chest in a rematch.
Everybody praising Fury for his twitter response get real , Wilder needs to build his profile in the States compared to fury ,
Really? . This is exactly why he didnt take the rematch though ; so he can say he won the first fight pretending the 9&12th didn’t happen and without the high probability of getting chin checked and left for dead in a rematch.
LMAO. Talk of them two colluding to marinate a super fight is akin to saying maybe David Haye and Luiz Ortiz are colluding to make a big fight.
Floyd and Manny were front and centre. Wilder is a nobody and Fury has no belt and you also have a mega star in their division who they are ducking.
In short, no, they are not in cahoots with one another, but it would be hilarious if they and Finkel / Warren were that delusional. On second thoughts, maybe they are..!
Deontay 'third place bronze' Wilder wants the easiest fights available and wants Joshua type earnings against B level dudes.
He will cash out in about 18 months imo, if not sooner. His problem is that he's not very good, and every time he takes on a B level guy for a couple mill earnings he is risking losing.
He knows that he has lost to Fury and dodged a bullet against Ortiz. He will be thinking long and hard about postponing his big AJ payday too much. Heck, he may even get beaten by Breazeale and that'll be the end of his big unification fight.
Seriously though, has there ever been a more mis-managed hw chump in history.
This guy should be a huge name in his own country and should have banked enough by now to take the AJ fight and roll the dice.
I don't think boxing is so big in the states as it was historically which is sad, because they do produce some good fighters.
First paragraph is spot on and the first half is decent then.............The last 3 paragraphs spiral into a Wilder hate thread and it’s awesome reading a bitter Wilder hater dismissing anything and everything
Getting a Bronze in the Olympics after picking up the sport less then 3 years before I guess should be looked down at now and not viewed as a accomplishment.
Looking for the easiest fights but went out of his way to fight the #3 & #4 HWs back to back something that #1 or any other top 10 HW has tried to do
Not very good but he’s in the top 10 HWs with the longest championship reign . If he was as bad as you say he’d certainly taken a L by now. Not saying he’s the most talented but you can’t be currently the longest reigning champ in the sport is complete a/ss.
Most mismanaged HW in the history of the sport ,’forget that he probably has the best team in the sport and in about 4 years he’s become the most popular active American boxer and probably in or around the top 10 as far as earning per fight and probably among as far as total money earned
The last 4 years . but he’s terribly mismanaged. Wilder has accomplished all this yet his team is apparently a bunch of clowns
He’s avoiding AJ
To answer the question No they aren’t colluding, It’s real simple Fury avoided and ducked the rematch because he’s happy to have won in most people eyes and doesn’t want to have the possibility of Wilder landing another shot that leaves him half dead like he was in the 12th
I think HBO was the first to master this and as time went on it became almost disgusting how they’d try and influence the public’s opinion of the fight; which almost always worked
Now it seems every platform has followed this formula , Even Showtime who I thought always gave a neutral representation of the fight now not so much, Espn bias for their A-side makes HBO look unbiased and is so blatant it’s hard to listen too.
To properly score even a somewhat close fight you need to pay uninterrupted attention to the whole 3 minutes. Most people dont do this especially if watching with a Group. most will rely on the commentary to help them decide what’s happening and who’s winning the fight . But can’t be trusted if the Platform has a agenda to protect their A-side at all costs
making the house fighter look good is the Commentaries agenda it’s easy to do even if they’re losing. Never mention and ignore when the B-side lands anything of significance or just ignoring them all together when commenting on the fight . Over react and hype to what the A-side is doing/Saying punches land when they don’t.
Just Another in a long list of reasons how the sport does a disservice to its self and why its a niche sport.
It doesn’t matter that Fury was the man to beat the man . A-side isn’t about who’s the best or who has the best win . It’s about the $ they generate for the fight.
He isn’t the ASide against AJ whos a phenomenon whos popularity is levels above Fury’s and drastically outsells him. Not A-side
If he fights Wilder in the States. Wilder has the strap and is 10x more known then Fury where year after year his fights are among the most watched in the States and hes the main reason that people would watch and spend $ for the fight. Before the Wilder PPV Fury’s been broadcast in the States 2 times and that was over 4 years ago. Once against Cunningham in a daytime fight no one cared about and his career defining W over Klit was viewed by many as the most boring fight they’d ever watched . Thats not A-side
lolol
hes not even more smart than just one of them alone...yet somehow some of you are convinced hes smarter than all 3 put together! absurd!
keep in mind you fruits....if AJ loses than hearn is no longer a major powerplayer in the sport...the best he can do is put usyk and andrade in crap fights in chicago
if wilder loses showtime and haymon will remain powerplayers in the sport regardless
ok AJ Protection Agency...have at it!
Curt don’t be f.ucking stupid
Think logically you think a team that comprises of multiple Harvard graduates, the most power advisor with the biggest stable of top shelf fighters , Former Head of HBO when it was a boxing juggernaut, Manager who been with a whos who of the biggest names in the sport the last 30 years , Head of one of the biggest boxing platforms the last couple years . All of whom have been involved in almost all of the biggest fights the past 25 years can compare to
A Promoter who has done a great job for himself the last couple years , but didnt pay any dues in the sport to get the job because he was a rich kid who’s Dad handed him the reigns after he failed with Matchrooms Golf and Gambling divisions.
You clearly don’t know what the f.uck you’re talking about. It’s easy to see who the smartest guy in the room is
Is it to much to say for once can you at least be fair and unbiased when making
Ridiculous Threads
The evidence does NOT support your theory or the rumours. The evidence supports the boxers NOT PBC, There are plenty of fighters who have the same activity levels as GRJ in PBC.
So it cannot be the boxers, it has to be the promotional outfit, how do you explain Breazeale having only three fights since he lost to Joshua in mid-2016 and Whyte having nine fights in within the same time frame Or Andy Ruiz having seven fights in that same time frame?
How do we explain Broner, Spence, Danny Garcia, Charlo etc having an average of 1 or 2 fights per year between them over the last 3 years?
There is an activity issue with PBC, and this has been glaring for a while now, some boxers actually want to get in the ring, fight, get paid and showcase their talent...Oppose to sitting on the shelf and getting paid minimum cheque and then singing "All praise Haymon" on social media.
So am praising GRJ for wanting to fight more often, he would obviously be destroyed for speaking out as evident by your original post about him. But for a talented boxer like him, he has turned into a right ol joke with his non-activity and TBA/TBC opponents....Maybe that's why he is speaking out and good for him.
You sound stupid and just looking to argue for the sake of arguing without any facts and basically no truth to everything you wrote
Since Russel won his strap in March 2015 in 4 + years he’s fought 4’times. The last 3 being on the same May weekend
Now let’s looks at some other champion A-side Main/Co-Main fighters on the PBC roster and how many fights they’ve had since Gary won his strap / A year or 2 isn’t really a large sample size but 4 years should be
Breazeale 7
Wilder 8
Danny Garcia 7
LSC 7
Mares 4 ( injuries)
Peterson4
Porter 6
Mikey Garcia 6
Spence 8
Charlo6 & 7
Hurd 9
Lara6
Tank Davis 9
John Molina 5
Broner7
Badou 7
M Browne 7
Thurman 4 has 5th in July been injured 2 years
Omar Fig -3
Berto 4
So barring injury out of that list 3 (15%)who have fought as seldom as Gary , None if them held straps during that time with the reason for Omar because he seemed he wanted to retire after the Demarco fight and Lamont being used as More of a B- side the last couple years .
Gary would be destroyed if he spoke out. You sure buds because it seems to me that Durrell , Vanes , Matthysse all left with no issue being made or being held up in court and Dirrell went back & Vanes wishes he could go back
Do the guys that don’t have clout or aren’t a priority fight less often probablyn but they are almost all just used as B side opponets and arent the Headliners / Co-headliner when they fight
There’s no other entity in the sport that would give Gary big cheques & continued Main Event Exposure fighting as infrequently and always against low level competition
Gary should be on his knees thanking Haymon for still supporting him with what he’s done with his career while holding a strap
But continue on with your argument
I got the impression that Gary was unhappy with Haymon's reluctance to put him in with Santa Cruz et al.
How can Russel have a problem with Haymon who lets him fight as infrequently as he wants and gives him a Kings ranson and TV exposure to fight nobodies.
LSC / Russell have had their straps for almost 4 years each yet it’s LSC who has fought the best in the division and it Gary who fights nobodies
But we should believe Gary has wanted to fight the best this whole time
The blame has to be on Gary for the LSC fight or fighting any other decent 126 not happening yet
That’s what I thought. Some of you guys are the worse “Boxing fans” on this forum. When hit in the fact with numbers and fact you start calling people names lol. The fact that you automatically supported the promoter over the fighter based on rumours not facts, show are narrow minded you are. You guys are for the promoters, because one fighter complained about his activity level you calling him names. I haven’t seen any other fans on this forums doing that... Just the Haymon loyalist like yourself.... And when called on it, this is you guys exact response. Am glad I expose your dumb arguement and hurt your feelings.... Next time stop calling out the boxers, GRJ should be on his knees because he is fighting once a year... Spence should too, Breazeale should too... the pattern is there, loyalist like yourself wouldn’t see it.
That’s your response after having everything you wrote be proven wrong. Geez
I’m a fan of Gary said it on here multiple times, never had a problem if he only wants to fight once a year / It’s ultimately up to the fighter how many times a year they want to be punched in the face
Just think he needs to step it up and he’s got it good and he’s on the only platform that would still give him prime TV time and pay him very well fighting as infrequently as he does against the level he does
You think Arum / GB / Matchroom would still be down with GRJ , I don’t but I bet you think he wants all the names and be in the ring just his team is holding hm back
I like how your whole post got taken apart and sh.itted on for what it was and how you still think you came out in top
I’m a bad boxing fan because I called you stupid ( sensitive much ) and saying GRJ should be thankful for the position he’s in because I doubt any other platform would let him manage his career this way .
Gary said it himself he’s a free agent let’s see if he leaves and if he does how often he fights and who he fights l. Maybe I’m wrong and he goes Somewhere starts fighting 3 Times a year with a couple meaningful fights in there. I just doubt it
Because his teams had almost
The names and Straps in his division and Gary was the only one of them who just fought no hopers once a year.
GRJ coming across as a bit of a ungrateful little f.ucker
There is no one else in the sport except Haymon that would put up Russell’s reluctance to fight more one once a year against almost exclusively against lower level fighters while still willing To give him good to great paydays and exposure.
Good luck if he can but what GRJ needs to do is fight Santa Cruz or anyone with a pulse at 126 instead of bumping his gums about getting better paydays he won’t get from anyone else
End of the day, he wants that big fight with LSC period. It should and needs to happen. If he doesn't get it, then he has options elsewhere. GRJ is hypocrite in some of the things he says, but he has a valid case here of being upset with his team if they can't get him a in house unification bout vs LSC. Like there are no excuses for that not to happen.
LIS on Saturday, his next fight better be against LSC/Davis/Farmer...This was when there were rumors he may leave to DAZN. If he goes to ESPN, then Valdez/Warrington/Berchelt. I'll be okay if he fights Mares/Frampton, but he should be aiming higher than that.
They’ve been talking about setting up LSC / GRJ for years
when LSC fought Frampton GRJ was on the telecast with Selby ( I’d assume as a prelude to setting up that fight with the winner having 2 straps and fighting LSC / Frampton down the line )
Yet that never happend / GRJ / LSC has been discussed for years even rumours of it being in the undercard of Wilder / Fury . Again nothing happend
PBC had control of 3 straps at 126 and almost all the notable names ( Mares /LSC/Frampton/Selby / GRJ) You throw Warrington in the mix and everyone of them has been in fights against each the last couple years except Russel that can’t be a coincidence. How can Haymon get all the others to Top Guns to fight But can’t do it for GRJ , I mean Gary’s Black And American shouldn’t he be Haymins favorite in that division according to some
Sh.it Valdez is stuck in a island on Espn and even he fought Quigg. The only time Gary doesn’t fight absolute no hopers is when it’s mandated by the sanctioning bodies. When it’s not mandated it’s a steady stream of C class fighters
According to PBC Fighters Haymon will give 2-3 names that a fighter can fight and they choose who they want
How can anyone look at the situation and not think Gary’s the one to blame for his sh.it Opponets and inactivity
I too have heard variations on this, based on Gary being somewhat injury prone. When I brought it up with someone loosely acquainted with him they reacted with genuine surprise.
This has been followed by the man himself speaking out.
Make of it what you will.
Yeah I heard it’s his hands are injury prone and he doesn’t have a desire to fight more then once a year
But I could be wrong / I just doubt Gary been kicking down the door demanding to be more active and fight better names and he’s just been getting the cold shoulder for 4+ years
You prove nothing wrong, you came in here to back the promoter over the fighter, you put all the blame on the fighter and act like a typical loyalist. It’s a proven fact that PBC fighters are NOT activity enough and you have examples provided for you. Those examples was to make you not sh itting on the fighter alone. But like I said before it all “Hail Al Haymon” or nothing else with your type, another poster came in and acknowledge the fact that PBC activities is an issue but GRJ has issues as well. You went the full 100% of GRJ because he talked about leaving like a true trooper for PBC... Maybe he doesn’t want to leave, maybe he was just threatening to do that so he can get more fights. But you were full mode s hitting on him because it’s PBC.... Great boxing fan.
Ray you’re legit pathetic
All I said from the start is that Gary should be thankful because there no one else I. The sport that would give him 7 figure paydays fighting once a year against no hopers and somehow this makes me a bad boxing fan
Why would I care if Gary leaves if he thought that’s what’s best for his career. Like I said I’m a fan so if he leaves and fights 3x a year I’m down as long as he steps up the comp level
I was a fan of Vanes before during and after he left Haymon
You just act like a broad from the start saying it’s PBC that’s only giving Gary 1 fight a year even though another poster proved what I had said that it’s his own choice. Then you cry and say All the Asides are as inactive as Gary I show a you list that roughly 10% are , kind of disproving your sh.it opinion
Everything you wrote in this thread is wack but as I’ve cone to expect that seems to be the norm for almost whatever you write
Whatever the reason was, he hasn't been able to get those fights. And he is making it crystal clear it is not on him, but on Haymon and his Leo's team. So now there is no excuse not to get the fight made. I'm sure GRJ in the past may have been a reason some of those fights were not being made, but he wants the LSC now...and he wants it badly. Even Keith Idec mentioned a few weeks ago that the hold up is LSC, NOT GRJ. That is a guy plugged in the PBC and would know what is going on.
I’m with you , LSC / GRJ is a cant Miss fight hope it happens next For both guys
It’s the same reason they wanted Breazeale to win
these cowards would rather AJ collect all the trinkets and be regarded as the best of his era without having to face any of the divisions biggest threats to prove his position and be deserving of the accomplishments and their accolades
It’s the biggest h.oe mentality
I’ve ever witnessed not wanting their favourite fighter who’s ranked #1 having to face the #2,3,4 HW ms who they claim are all bums anyways because there’s a chance he might lose
It shouldn’t come as a surprise though, We live in a society that encourages young boys and men not to act like men. Showing female H.oe traits is applauded while showing signs of masculinity is frowned upon today
i agree
as ive said...last 1.5 years wilder fought ortiz who is top 4-5...tried to fight AJ....fought fury...tried to immediately rematch fury and when all options were basically exhausted he did a wbc mando(this defense was always in the plan anyways even by DAZN)
props to showtime though because they had jim gray out there straight up like "deontay...the people dont wanna see you vs this guy...or the other guy vs ruiz...they want you him and fury all fighting each other"......
in the last year and a half wilder has tried to make the best fights possible.....at least fury had the balls once to do it......but mostly wilder has been rebuffed...meanwhile AJ is happy fighting povetkin/miller/ruiz types and acting like hes some real champ cause he took a belt of charles martin and joe parker LOL
Wilder ls proven he want to fight the best
AJs team has proven that they want the path of least resistance and refuse to put him in with the Divisions biggest threats
But you have Minions that don’t care. Parker who no one thought was a threat gets a proper negotiation because he was easy pickings for a third Strap.
The Divisions Threats only BS flat fee offers / Offers when they’re negotiating for another fight or Take it or leave it no room to negotiate pull out after 24Hr type offers but Hearn and the minions want people to believe that the offers should be viewed as legit and Hearn wanted those fights. It’s ******ed
Meanwhile AJ will be going on years as being veiwed as the #1 But is the only fighter not expected by his fan base to fight any of his top 3 threats
Really a Prime convicted in the same calendar year PED cheat
Walking down and getting a decision most feel he didn’t deserve against a boogeyman who was 36 clearly on the backend end of his career
Should be considered the best W in the sport in the last 20 years
Get the f.uck Out Of Here
That W is “ tainted “ on a couple levels and even then it doesn’t stack up to any of these legitimate Ws / fights in the last 20 years ,
Hopkins beating Trinidad
Fury beating Klit
Marquez KO Of PAC
Tarver KO Jones
Corrales vs Castillo
Mayweather beating PAC
Barrera beating Hamed
Margarito beating Cotto
Get off Canelos Nut Sack
You shouldn’t even be considered #1 when you’ve been busted with PEDs
Let’s not even get into preferable scoring from judges and Ws that should have been Ls that would make his career be judged completely different if he was judged like every other fighter
Yes his resume is outstanding but he been the Mexican Golden child since the start so he has the clout not only to get the names in the ring with him also has the pull to fight them when the deck is stacked and most advantageous to him whether it’s ( Age /size / inactivity/ Preferable Judges ) Canelo rarely fights a opponet when their at their best or on a level paying field.
Canelo isn’t anywhere near the best fighter on the planet and anyone saying otherwise is either being dishonest with themselves or blinded by fanboy love they have for him.
How can you talk about Exposure and then claim the right move would be for Wilder to go to DAZN a app that has the will provide him the least exposure of any of the current platforms
You claim 10 mil watched Wikder / Fury illegally with 350k buying the PPV , Dazn has 4 mil subscribers World worldwide
At this point Marquee Fighters sign with DAZN because they are willing to overpay and in exchange you lose eyeballs following you
You can say Wikder should have signed with DAZN for the $ , Not for the exposure
In a perfect world all 3 platforms that show
Boxing would thrive
But it seems inevitable that 1 will leave the sport sooner rather than later
If I was to pick which one it’d be DAZN
PBC has network deals giving them 9 figures annually. Put on the greatest # of good fights and will dominate the most watched watched boxing telecasts in the States
Espn is committed for at least another 6 years
Dazn Right now Has a revenue of 275m annually. Has committed roughly 150m per year to 3 Boxers. Add in all the other Fees to broadcast boxing , Licensing Fees they’ve paid for other sports. Seems
They would need a huge increase in revenue if they plan on lasting long term
How do you know this was GRJ reluctance? Maybe he wants to be more active and he isn#t getting that.
You seems to straight dismiss the fighter and side with the promoter, maybe you know more about the situation and can shed more light.
But looking at fighters at PBC they are generally not that active. So i wouldn't put this all on GRJ.
I may be wrong but I’ve heard it from various media/ personalities covering the sport through the years that It’s Russel that prefers fighting once a year
Seems sense though that that this is GRJ choice , Some PBC Guys Fight infrequently for stretches of time but for the most part their established Champions/ Names avg 2 fights a year, Why would GRJ be any different? He’s had a strap 4-5 years and in that whole time only fights once a year always in April or May
if he wanted To Fight More He’d Have at least a year or 2 in the last 5 where he fought 2x. Why would every fighter get on avg 2 fights except GRJ if not by choice
Twitter , The place where losers talk sh.it to celebrities and about anything and everything thinking their slick
But in the Real World if those same basement dwellers ever met whoever they talk sh.it to would be asking for a picture , autograph and ride their d.ick Saying their that persons biggest fan
I have no idea how Yarde or his team can be deluded enough to even mention that He should be the A side to Kovalev , Furthest thing from a fan but Kov is basically a HOf , Been among the top at 175 for the last 7ish years been on PPVs , Headlines on HBO now Espn , while Yarde isn’t known and hasn’t beaten anyone of substance
But yeah the Unknown Mando deserves to be the A side ?
The offer was crazy $
But everyone thought Wikder should have took the 15 last year and his value seems to keep going up , so might be a little to early to knock Wikder
But from the Pugmire article , If Wikder signed with Dazn he wasn’t guaranteed AJ in that contract
If Dazn /Matchroom get to pick his opponets their goingnto try and get Wilders strap with out him fighting AJ , probably have Wikder fight a master boxer in USyk . Hoping he doesn’t get dropped and can take a decision and have complete control of all the belts without risking AJ. If he makes good $ controlling his career , and still has the AJ lotto ticket which seems to keep going up
it Might not be the worst decision
From the Pugmire article , He wasn’t guaranteed AJ if he signed with Dazn
If he signed , Matchroom/Dazn get to pick his opponets ( I’m sure they’d rather have him lose the strap ) He’s tied Down for the next 1 1/2 years with no AJ guarantee , helps a rival platform while hurting the one that built him up.
By not signing Wilder stays in control of his career , probably still makes good $ and the AJ fight is still out there.
