anatomy of a bad business man, the deontay wilder story
in 2013 near the height of his popularity and already having 5 ppv fights that did a million or more buys floyd signed a ppv deal with showtime with each fight being worth a 32 million minimum(more if the ppv reached a certain number which most didnt)
wilder just turned down 33.3 million per fight having done 1 ppv fight that did 300k.
Wilder blink twice if haymon is holding you hostage!
Wilder is smart, he avoided a trap.
They wanted complete control over drug testing, judges, refs, etc.
When the AJ vs. Wilder fight happens, he'll make sure it's an even playing field.
once again...the hearn/AJ cult followers want you to believe finkel, espinoza and haymon are dumber than themselves aka internet forum posters....they want you to believe they are dumber than hearn too....
thats when you know you are talking to delusional people....guys that have been involved in some of the greatest careers and highest grossing fights in boxing are "dumb" and "bad at business".....but they are smarter!!!
LOL....shows how far down these guys will go to defend their coward UK "champ"
get ready to pony up 50 percent for the bomb squad
The offer was crazy $
But everyone thought Wikder should have took the 15 last year and his value seems to keep going up , so might be a little to early to knock Wikder
But from the Pugmire article , If Wikder signed with Dazn he wasn’t guaranteed AJ in that contract
If Dazn /Matchroom get to pick his opponets their goingnto try and get Wilders strap with out him fighting AJ , probably have Wikder fight a master boxer in USyk . Hoping he doesn’t get dropped and can take a decision and have complete control of all the belts without risking AJ. If he makes good $ controlling his career , and still has the AJ lotto ticket which seems to keep going up
it Might not be the worst decision
Anyone with an ounce of common sense would tell you 100 mil in the hand is better than 2 or 3 mil in the hand.
People want to compare this to Mayweather? How did Mayweather become the draw he was? By not being a greedy **** and beating the biggest draw available to him. Wilder is running from that opportunity.
This is true. Floyd didn't get greedy with Oscar and used that fight to become a mainstream attraction.
You guys are a bunch of pocket watchers like yall not getting no cut why yall care what another men is getting paid boxing was never like this what has happen to this sport that i love
The guy just wants to keep his belt.
"If I wuz white I'd be paid more"
*white guy (Hearn) offers him more than almost any other fighter on Earth not named Canelo (mexican) or AJ (black)
"We tha real champion yo! We tha rockstarz! Fucc that slavemaster Hearn yo!"
Levels of retardation are unprecedented but not suprising coming from Deontae Wylda
shineology is extremely perplexing to anyone with a modicum of intelligence, although if you are pragmatic like me you only need a decent sample size of the shines in the world to know they are the biggest retards on the planet.
Plus even if Wilder messes up badly he would still recover some money for a rematch with Fury or a fight with Joshua.
Nothing like the crazy DAZN offer but if he can get a few million fighting each that is still pretty good money and Wilder would get that because there just aren't that many fights for heavies and the set up is already there for both regardless of other circumstances.
SO not too worried about Wilder the business man, he is well set up even if things go very badly for him.

hahahahah i mean, does he think money like this just floats around waiting for him?at any point
As long as Wilder beats Breazeale he is fine and he is likely to because Breazeale is tailor made he plays defense with his face is not as quick or rangy and is not really a good technical boxer.
He is tough and can hit hard enough to take out worn down opponents but Wilder is pretty well conditioned and I don't think beating up Breazeale will tire him out more than Breazeale will get worn down from the beating he sustains.
Wilder should look amazing against Breazeale and that should increase offers and even if it is on PPV that is still more eyes than would be on DAZN especially with a replay that would be much more widely seen. More eyes equals more awareness, more awareness, means more people, care more people caring means better offers.
If he loses that would hurt but it would hurt anyway because no way were there not outs for DAZN if such a thing occurred anyway.

LLOL i'm hella tipsy and lost my **** by this post.
Wilder would say BIDNESS MAN TOO!!lololo
Too early to say whether Wilder is a bad business man; he's banking on himself which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The issue is is he continually talked about 'one face' bla bla and how it is all about being undisputed and not about the money yet that was clearly not the case.
Looks like we're gonna have the same **** in a few months time again when Wilder and Joshua have both had their fights.
Didn't you watch the press conference? The reason was that they were more worried about Joshuas pockets instead of their own. And insisted it the fight was worth 5 dollars they wanted half not a dollar. Pure ducking at its finest , Finkel will not let this fight happen.
The crazy thing is you are one of those head case posters on here and you will still spin this , it doesn't really matter Breazeales hand will be raised and this comes to an end .
I don’t get this obsession with wanting to know how much Joshua is going to get. Shouldn’t they worry about what they can negotiate for their side from DAZN?
Using money to duck the Joshua unification is just dumb IMHO, I thought they would cut their own deal with DAZN like Canelo and GGG did. Then fight whoever is available. At this rate it look like they are holding the belt hostage, then when they are ready to fight and Joshua isn’t ready then they would cry of being ducked. I don’t get it.
We have now gone from what are they afraid of to he was offered 12m and now he has been offered 40m... like that is a justification for holding the fight back. I have to say I have been impressed with some posters here, they have actually stopped and hold their thoughts, some are actually questioning this latest decision from Team Wilder..... Others are still trying to spin everything.
He can also get KO'ed by Breazeale and all those offers go down the drain. Upsets happen, and in HW they happen by way of hard KO's.
Like I said if that happens DAZN wouldn't pay him $80M for 2 fights against AJ like TopRank did with Alvarez after he lost
Wilder beats Breazeale and the money is still on the table maybe even more against either Fury or Joshua
Not sure about the 100M offer but I'd assume DAZN could get out of it if he doesn't win against Breazeale he is not really gambling away 100M and I'm assuming he is getting the famous Haymon 2nd check on May 18th
This is all just speculation at this point

I missed the press conference. I was driving all day. That doesn’t surprise me because listening to an interview with Shelley weeks back it seemed like he was really focused on Joshua’s purse. At the time I could understand why because their offer wasn’t a great one.
Idk what's Wilder's gameplan, he's leaving a lot of money on the table. Like when Broner rejected Roc Nation's offer and told Jay-Z to suck his d, now his career is the one that sucks d. Wilder i'm sure is more loyalty to Haymon than anything else, but this looks like blind loyalty. Will Haymon make him $100mill in his next 3-4 fights?

It is odd but I’ll wait to hear Wilder speak on the matter first. All their moves have been very calculated up until this point and I’ve always respected that. I want to hear the reasoning behind this discussion from someone on the Wilder side.
Yes and it still isn't an 100 mil fight. No way will this draw the revenue for 100 mil in purses. DAZN is willing to take a loss to grow their business. Again your point is? Do you have one or just trying to deflect? :lol1:
They're obviously better than you at this sh1t is my point
No that was maybe 5 months ago and the 5M turned to 20M for Breazeale fight
Let’s see what the fight is worth after AJ fights Miller and Wilder fights Breazeale
ok well thats fair then. he thought he was beign underpaid so he rejected the previous offer but if you look at the stats i posted this offer completely overpays him given his drawing power. it overpays him if he was floyd doing a million ppv buys. hes nowhere near that level. haymon and pbc know that hes not and thats why his next fight isnt even on ppv. he got the offer he wanted and stupidly rejected it. if joshuas fight is a big success then the offer should only go down not up cause he will no longer need wilders name to draw
Anyone with an ounce of common sense would tell you 100 mil in the hand is better than 2 or 3 mil in the hand.

the biggest draw just offereed to fight him and he said no so how is he going to make up the 100 million he just left on the table? by fighting kownacki and ortiz again? that won't do it. even fury isnt a huge fight as it only did 300k and netted him 10 million. thats his best option without joshua and he doesnt seem to want to do that either! the ony guy who could make him big money just offered it to him and he sh-it the bed.
