That's cool, but this is like a fake version of K-1 and they have almost no top tier talent. Having said that a top 20 boxing HW could probably win the Golden Glory GP (the new real K-1 type competition) without any cross-training. The kickboxing HW division is paper thin.
No.
Pacquio turned out to be suspect and exposed. And while it sucks for Floyd that he did not get paid...more important to him is that Arum did not get paid. Floyd wanted to ***** slap Arum and indeed he did!
Did you see the rumored approved list? Is Pac any worse then Garcia, Alexander and Maidana?...those PPVs will flop. If the fight is so easy then he should take it and make triple the amount of money he would with any of the above and get a lot more credit. Floyd is not fighting Canelo or Martinez. After Guerrero I predict that he fights Cotto and Garcia, and maybe Alexander if he really intends to stay busy.
Mayweather is the proxy king. Marquez's KO victory over Pac sealed Mayweather's legacy as an all time great!
Mayweather won both 2012 fighter of the year and KO of the year. What a legend.
Smart fight for Khan, bad fight for the fans.
Showtime will be all over this. Espinoza is drooling at the thought of airing this Golden Boy mega show from the UK!
Ishe Smith/Carlos Molina
What a **** fight that would be.
Guerrero is almost a no-name with the casuals. Less known then Ortiz and the Mexicans haven't backed him yet in a big way. They would need to pull off a promotional miracle to reach 1 million without Canelo.
Mayweather is not going to fight Canelo, and now that he has guaranteed money he won't risk it for sure.
TBH, in terms of legacy he doesn't have to fight a big JMW when he walks around at 147, same reason why the Martinez fight will never happen. He should just fight the obvious guy at 147 at least once and make a lot more money but he won't for whatever reason.
Without the Canelo undercard fight the PPV will do about 700k which is generally great but with all the CBS investment it might be considered a flop.
Canelo and GBP better not use this as an excuse to make yet ANOTHER MISMATCH! They mentioned Angulo, who almost got knocked out by a journeyman in his last fight and looks to be shot. No more excuses for Canelo. If he avoids Trout he better fight someone tough.
Im cashing out = Easy Paydays
Its like a stick up = Gonna rob the fans
It must be hard being a Mayweather fan. I was convinced that Floyd would call out Pac now that he got laid out but still he hesitates and seems disinterested, despite still being the biggest fight out there. Oh well, at least Floyd is being upfront with his intentions.
Singapore, UAE and most of all Macua have been discussed!! (joking).
But seriously, I really hope this comes together. Couldn't care less who is promoting.
I think it's shameful that people have let themselves be overwhelmed with this drama for the past two years.
I know everyone wants to find one person to blame but the truth is, so far, both camps seem comfortable with not fighting each other. They both 'ducked' each other because the risk of losing one fight didn't out-weight the financial windfall.
Don't you feel stupid for bashing the two best fighters of our era? What does that say about us fans?
Also $60 for a crappy PPV..where all matters its one fight?
All the HBO PPVs have had undercards going from good to great in 2011.
Nothing more annoying then a 'woe is me' boxing fan. I get the impression that people think that they aren't real boxing fans until they trash the current state of the sport and the contemporary fighters.
Belts are meaningless, PPVs are necessary for the big fights and most of the important fights take place. Is it perfect? Far from it, but there was never a time when prizefighting didn't have some corruption or nonsense going on. If you can't accept that then this sport is not for you.
You guys just don't want to give Bute any credit.
How about the fact that he was a lot more impressive then Froch beating Johnson?
Bute is always a pleasure to watch, if you can't appreciate his skill-set then you need to find a new sport to follow.
lol oh wow he was more impressive against Johnson than Froch, big whoop!
Froch is a freaking warrior who steps into the ring with anybody unlike that protected pus.sy.
Froch has been in the ring with Taylor, Kessler, Dirrell, Abraham, Johnson, Pascal and is scheduled to fight Ward next.
Boo-tay has been in the ring with Andrade twice (who almost ko'd him) and Johnson...........
and that has nothing to do with the entertainment factor of Bute's performance tonight.
btw, Froch has had better challenges then anyone in the sport for the past 2-3 years. So you're wasting your time with the rant.
Bute had a very good performance, give him his credit.
It's funny how Mayweather fans are acting like their man won last weekend. Another win for Floyd by proxy, no need to fight Pac in real life now, right?
I'd excuse Mexicans writing ****, but this is just bitterness from one segment of militant fans.
Maybe you aren't aware, but a lot of people thought that Pacquiao was way overhyped before last Saturday night.
Yeah, so one guy gives him trouble in his career and his other wins over multiple HOF's doesn't mean anything?
So I guess if Floyd beats him decisively next year it means jack?
I'm just pointing out the obvious and I know that people here have already made up their own reality.
I consider myself a biased Pac fan but that doesn't mean that I would just write off Floyd's stellar career just so that I can combat some trolls online.
I ran into Cotto in Dallas last year before the Pac-Margarito fight at a Mavericks game. I just said hello and shook his hand as he was walking by, didn't bother to talk to him but I can understand that he is introverted and it doesn't bother me.
As mentioned, he is not a big guy. I towered over him lol, but no doubt he would knock me out with one punch.
Jack Hirsch is the President of BWAA (Boxing Writers Association of America)
Well that's not good news. This story is hard to believe even in boxing.
If this happens then I would seriously lose part of my boxing fandom.
Roach has been talking about Pac's retirement for the past 3 years. Meanwhile Pac has indicated he will fight until 2013 and knowing how much $ he spends it will be well beyond that.
Basically Roach is talking BS, he isn't even consulted outside the training camps.
Aside from Pac-Mosley and Hopkins-Dawson, all the PPVs were good-great, and we had better undercards on all of them then in the recent past.
I'm too lazy to guesstimate but even with less then half the amount of PPVs the UFC put out this year, boxing might edge them in overall sales for the first time in 4-5 years.
Pac and Floyd have managed to become even more popular even with the fall out of their megafight.
