Just horrible predictable boring fight. Durable Glen was just happy to survive while Bute just used his speed to pick Glen off.
Just like a sparring session, hardly no real action.
Complete sleeper of a fight and one I wound't reccomend watching EVER.
I disagree, it was not as bad as Tarver & the crew made it seem. Johnson won the 1st round IMO & the other begining rounds were close with Johnson landing his jab & touching the body & Bute coming on in the second half of the fight.
This... I personally had it 3-2 going into the fifth for glen, and even gave glen that round. He was landing his jab and straight to the body at will, bute was hitting gloves. After that, bute coasted.
Finally, someone who actually knows the sport. I wonder what fight you guys watch sometimes, or if you close your eyes and only listen to the commentary.

glen johnson is officially shot. he couldnt pull the trigger. it was obvious in the froch fight, now i must finally admit it to be the truth. good win for bute.
Very confused here...
Kessler, Pavlic and Johnson didn't want to fight Bute, but Johnson came back to accept the fight and prove that he's a real "Road Warrior" and not a cherry picker.
Johnson gave Froch a lot of problems, he had to give everything he had to survive.
Bute was in control from round 1 through 12. Bute has more power than Froch and more speed.
Boxing can't always be like Hagler vs Hearns, Bute is one of the best fighter right now, he can also end a fight with only one body shot. Seriously, he's a good for boxing.
Fight was horrible.
Johnson needs to retire.
Boxing has too many 40+ year olds they need to retire in the past few weeks we have seen major let downs from 40+ year old fighters.
You guys just don't want to give Bute any credit.
How about the fact that he was a lot more impressive then Froch beating Johnson?
Bute is always a pleasure to watch, if you can't appreciate his skill-set then you need to find a new sport to follow.
I disagree.
And Glen was reluctant to fight his usual fight for the obvious reason - Butes counter uppercut.
Glen is a smart fighter, anyone with a brain knows the key to beating Bute is to remain on the end of your punch, otherwise you will get uppercutted. His entire highlight real is full of uppercut knockouts. If you've seen it (its on youtube) there are over 10 knockouts via counter uppercut.
It was a very technical fight but not necessarily boring. All depends on your perspective.
Pier Cote provided fireworks in the prelim. He's a kid to watch.
I was rooting for Johnson and I figured Bute would get a wide UD but what surprised me was the way the fight turned out. I saw it playing out with Johnson pressuring early while losing steam late all the while Bute winning with the superior boxing skills. What surprised me is the way Johnson tried to box with him. After seeing Johnson shell up and get really affected by some of those shots maybe I've been underestimating Bute's punching power. Cant wait for the S6 winner so we can settle who is the clear cut #1 at 168. BTW TS how did u see it playing out?
Yeah, Glen Johnson just doesn't have it anymore, which is a shame. His last great performance and last hurrah was in the Cloud fight where he should've won a close decision in my opinion. I didn't see his fight with Bute. But I think given the fact that Johnson lost convicingly to both Bute and Froch, this makes Cloud suspect even though he fought a fresher version of Glen. Is that why he struggled with Johnson or is he just not that good?
No, it's because that was his last fight at 175 and those fights were at 168, which he hasn't made in 10 years and clearly wasn't as active and sharp at. He looked very lethargic to me against Bute.

Just a thought and not to take anything away from Bute or Froch but do you think having to make a weight he hasn't made in 10 yrs had anything to do with it? It would be tough for any fighter after adjusting to a new weight to come down let alone a 42 yr old. IMO those extra 7 lbs would be crucial for the championship rounds. Either way valiant effort against two exceptionally talented guys.
lol oh wow he was more impressive against Johnson than Froch, big whoop!
Froch is a freaking warrior who steps into the ring with anybody unlike that protected pus.sy.
Froch has been in the ring with Taylor, Kessler, Dirrell, Abraham, Johnson, Pascal and is scheduled to fight Ward next.
Boo-tay has been in the ring with Andrade twice (who almost ko'd him) and Johnson...........
Froch a tremendous warrior who steps into the ring with anybody? Then explain why he declined the fight with Bute when they were the first 2 challenger for an elimination for the IBF title, and instead waited another year to get a shot at a title?
Why didn't Froch take the fight agianst Bute then, so that Bute had to fight Bika?
Sad stuff, hate to see the Road Warrior go out like that.
I was like really surprise the tactic he took. THEN, he BS'ed in the post-fight interview... Oh well...
and that has nothing to do with the entertainment factor of Bute's performance tonight.
btw, Froch has had better challenges then anyone in the sport for the past 2-3 years. So you're wasting your time with the rant.
Bute had a very good performance, give him his credit.
Okay, tons of props on Bootay for being the 16th person to have defeated a 43 year old.
(I love Johnson by the way)
