No Mundine v Green ??]
You all are wrong.
Top 5 are as follows and anyone who disagrees "dont' know sh1t about boxing"!
1. Butterbean - Holmes
2. Chavez Jr. - Rios II
3. Bowe - Pukall
4. Lewis - McCall (also know as the Lewis versus Weepy)
5. Burton - Augustus I (also known as Burton & Kelley versus Augustus)
Just keeping it real!
:boxing:
I think the foot work and hand speed would be an issue. Cotto is good at cutting off the ring...just a bad match up. Speed killls
I can see it but Pac is small. Even when he got his 154 strap it was at 152 and against someone that never fought at 154 before. Couple that with the last fight Cotto was below 147 and his improvement I got to go with Cotto on this one.
Sick of all the Floyd/Manny B.S. and hate so let's chill out and talk about who you'd like to drink with and shoot the Shiz and talk boxing...
Mine would undoubtedly be Bernard Hopkins..after listening to that guy on the old Jim Rome shows years ago talk about his life and boxing for 40 minutes straight with Jim barley able to get a word in I thought to myself how cool it would be to hang out and have a few with him and talk about everything boxing in general...
Fun question. I would say Emanuel Augustus. If he isn't available probably Mickey Ward. If we are talking dead as well as alive than jack Johnson or Rocky Marciano.
nothing personal but you may be Just as bad at reading as mayweather. I said the commentators were giving Floyd credit for shots that were not landing. So how would it be beneficial to watch it without the commentators. Why is someone automatically a Floyd hater for seeing the fight differently. I'm not persuaded by others opinions but my own. Maybe you should rewatch the fight. Rewatch the first two rounds that were given to mayweather where he literally threw probably only jabs when compubox credited him for power shots.
I just didn't see it. I will watch the fight again with the sound down but from my first fight it was a clear Mayweather domination. I had it 9 rounds to 3 plus the point deduction for Mayweather. People talk about the lip and nose but what I thought was telling was Maidena's body language. By the 8th round he was walking around and acting like a frustrated and defeated fighter.
About Dang time!
http://www.si.com/boxing/2015/07/16/jack-johnson-boxer-us-senate-amendment-mccain-reid#
The U.S. Senate passed an amendment Thursday urging for a presidential pardon for heavyweight boxing champion Jack Johnson.
The amendment was introduced by Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Harry Reid (D-NV), pushing for a posthumous pardon for Johnson, the first African-American heavyweight champion, for an unjust conviction in 1913. Johnson was charged with transporting a white woman across state lines, a violation of the Mann Act, which made it a crime to transport a person between states for the purposes of prostitution.
“Jack Johnson is a boxing legend and pioneer whose reputation was wrongly tarnished by a racially-motivated conviction more than a century ago,” said McCain in a release. “While this resolution has passed both chambers of Congress several times in recent years, President Obama has refused to take action even though the practice of issuing posthumous pardons has clear precedent. I thank Senator Reid for his continued partnership on this issue and urge the House to send the resolution to the President’s desk. It’s past time for our country to right this historical wrong and restore this great athlete’s legacy.”
Johnson famously defeated Tommy Burns in Australia in 1908 to become the world heavyweight boxing champion, and in the years that followed he became one of the world's most prominent fighters. In 1915, Johnson brought a woman whom he was dating across state lines. The ruling in his case is believed to have been racially charged, and the conviction destroyed Johnson's career and reputation.
“I’m pleased that Senator McCain and I have secured passage of this resolution that corrects a historical injustice,” said Reid in the same release. “Jack Johnson was the greatest athlete of his time, a trailblazer for African-Americans and had his life and legacy tarnished by a racially motivated criminal conviction. As we have done for years, Senator McCain and I will continue to fight to restore his legacy and ensure that Jack Johnson is remembered for what he was, an incredible boxer sent to prison by an unfair system. I hope the President will pardon Jack Johnson and repair the legacy of this great man.”
Are you crazy? You want to see a slaughter? This would be another Jack Johnson versus Stanley Ketchel. Do you really want to see GGG pick Pac's teeth out of his glove?
Nothing wrong with anything you said except Conelo amd his team are spouting that 155 BS. If they just shut their trap about it I would agree. Wait amd see.
Personally think GGG crushes him. I don't think Conelo has peaked yet and maybe isn't ready for GGG. However, GGG is the mandatory so fight at the weight class or vacate.
Martinez said GGG is so good he is off the charts. He said Canelo is a great champion but he probably won't fight GGG until GGG shows signs of weakness. Martinez is retired and has no reason to lie about this. Canelo scored a good win a few days ago. Why can guys on here wait and see who he fights and at what weight when he returns in early may. Canelo himself probably doesn't know what his next move is. He is probably just happy he got the win over the difficult Cotto and wants to relax and soak in the glory of his good victory.
I just can't agree with you. As the mandatory GGG should demand full 160 pound contest. If Conelo declines strip him. Simple.
Well, what is your point? That Canelo has to defend at 160?
Well, you're wrong there. GGG may well accept 155 or higher depending on what Canelo offers him. As long as its 160 or under, its valid as a middleweight contest. If Canelo offers something like 60/40, I think itd be crazy for Golovkin to turn that down at 155... unless he really believes he can't make the weight anymore (he is 33). Like I said, 157 seems realistic and fair.
Your point should be what I already explained - GGG has a big bargaining chip if Canelo wants to keep the belt. As interim champion, GGG is entitled to 45% split of the purse if purse bids are called, at the full weight limit - if no agreements can be made between K2 and Goldenboy.
Sorry but this is one of the worst thought out arguments I have ever seen.
1. If you hold a middle weight strap you can't claim you need to test the waters.
2. Catch weights are one thing but you can't mandate a mandatory challenger for your strap do a catch weight.
3. Conelo is HUGE. He walks around at light heavy or above. He has a huge frame as well.
I get it. He wants that advantage. Got it. Just don't do it with a mandatory title defense. That degrades the entire sport amd is straight up BS.
Show me a middleweight who can make 155.
I don't buy this "Canelo is bigger" argument. If Canelo is bigger, then GGG shouldn't have a problem making 155, since the bigger guy can make that weight.
Not defending the catchweight bullsh*t. But, let Canelo come up to true 160 first, fight some middleweights, test the waters, then fight GGG.
GGG only calls out small dudes. 160 is weak, not impressed with his opposition at all. I'm okay with Canelo fight, but let him acclimate to division first, never even fought at 160 or fought a true middleweight, yet.
You are missing my point or you just don't agree with it. GGG is the middleweight mandatory. Any other situation Canelo can play his games and I may not like it but it is legit. In this case if he wants the strap he has to defend it at the full weight limit. No gimmicks. No games. If not vacate and fight at whatever catch weight he wants. Even against GGG.
Middleweight isn't necessarily 160lb, so it wouldn't be right to say '160 pound challenger'. I'm against one fighter trying to force another fighter to weigh less, because their own body isn't yet 'ready', at least in championship fights. Each fighter should be able to come in as they like, as long as it doesn't exceed 160.
That being said, it doesn't reflect the situation in reality. If Canelo wants to hang on to his belt, he's going to have to pay GGG a lot of money to come in at 155. I think a weight of 157 would be fair, with GGG getting a fair split of the purse. If Canelo wants to keep his belt, and GGG doesn't agree to a catchweight, it'll go to purse bids... where GGG is entitled to 45% of the purse, with no catchweight, as interim champion. That's assuming the WBC keep to their word.
Canelo can always pay step aside fees, or vacate his title. If Golovkin unifies MW, i'm really not sure where Canelo can go, as he gets older and is unable to drain closer to 154 anymore.
This is spot on.
I think Conelo does it to get into the minds of his opponents. Also to show he is A side. Taking a page from Mayweathers book on tough negotiating. My way or the highway. No proble, to me except when. It comes to mandatory challenges.
Transitioning into a new division? I'm a somewhat Canelo fan but I call that an utter garbage. Just the logic, not you personally.
155 IS already in the middleweight division, and he's had a few fights there. If he wants to be considered a small middleweight, then that's what the junior middleweight division is for (at 154).
I can never follow Canelo's logic here. It is obvious he's draining himself to make 155. Why drain yourself when you can fight healthily at the middleweight limit (160)?
This is just crazy.
I can't disagree with any of your recent posts. I dint care who he fights or at what weight either. Vacate if not ready. I think we are in the same page,
I didn't ignore your points, and I don't know where you are getting the idea that I am okay with catch-weight fights? Again, I said vacate if he isn't ready for GGG. Fight needs to be at 160.
Look, this is pure BS as well. Conelo can come down easier partly because of youth. Cotto could still make Welter I believe. No question Conelo comes in fight night north of the SMW limit.
I don't know what every top middleweight can get down to but some of them can probably fight at 155. GGG says he can make 154 for Mayweather. One thing is for sure in my mind. Canelo is not naturally a 20 pounds bigger fighter than Cotto as many Cotto fans have tried to say to explain why Canelo beat Cotto. Canelo has repeatedly made 155 and come into the ring strong. If Cotto is really 20 pounds smaller than Canelo then Cotto should be able to weigh in at 135 and come into the ring strong. Cotto can no longer make 147 comfortably and 150 is the lightest weight Cotto can weigh in at and still be strong. This means Canelo is about 5 pounds bigger than Cotto naturally and not 20 pounds bigger as some are saying..
I see you ignored all the points of my argument as they were not convenient. 160 pound mandatory challenger = 160 pound fight. Anything else is BS. Agree on the history of the belt. All those catch weights to get the belt don't justify catch weight mandatory defense.
It really isn't. Who did he beat to get that middleweight title? Hmm, lets see, another guy who had no business at middleweight, and who most likely will finish his career at 154. I absolutely never defended a catch-weight fight. Canelo should vacate if he doesn't fight GGG next. Next point, what does it matter if he walks around at 175? Do you understand the difference between walk around weight and fighting weight? Surely, you don't think Canelo can fight guys at 168 or 175, just because he walks around at this weight. Really poor arguments on your part.
Nothing wrong with anything your saying except he has a mandatory and a mandatory is at the weight limit, cpvacate the belt and grow into the division. Don't piss on the division with this crap for a a mandatory challenge.

He is a junior middleweight, that needs to go up to 160, not 155. To be a middleweight, you need to fight middleweights, and not guys who come in at 153.5 for a "middleweight" title fight. Let him fight a few true 160 lb. guys, let him come in at the 160 lb. limit, let him take some punches from the big boys. What's wrong with that? You call him a middleweight and he's never fought a damn middleweight in his life.
winning most of your fights by gift decisions (split, majority, and close ud) fighting c - level fighters? pretty sure great fighters accomplished more than fraud's mediocre accomplishments.
mediocre accomplishments by a mediocre fighter.
You do realize that 26 of his 47 wins are by way of knockout, right? You do know that means that your statement above is totally silly even if you assume every non-knockout fight was close and no one but CJ Ross thinks Conelo was close.
Get real. Both Manny and Floyd are special fighters. The hate is so stupid.
Can't deny he makes me chuckle. He adds a bit of levity to the sport so I have no problem with it. That being said if he ever gets so lucky as to get a date with Klit he is going to get hurt......bad.
Are you sure about that? Majority of members on this site thinks otherwise.

Are you serious about your top 10? Alvarez, really?
They use an algorithm.... how does that even work when he knocked off the top guy and has two belts?
Kiko must've been ranked high... so was LSC's sparring partner
Lack of activity messes it up.
The King has spoken and he WILL fight GGG and quiet all the haters! Win or lose, King Cotto has shown all how its done!
#WarCotto

I will be frank. Not sure what I think of Cotto as a person. He seems a bit ego filled but that isn't a bad thing for a fighter. Besides it doesn't matter if I like him as a person or not. I give him a 50/50 shot with Conelo. If he does fight GGG I can't see him winning in any way.
One thing I won't do though is doubt his heart or resolve.
Now boxingscene just needs an overhaul and we'll be good.
So true! I need a mobile friendly version of BoxingScene. I am ios user so android app useless for me.
thoughts???????
I actually like it. Will take a bit getting used to but the old format was painful. This one is far better on mobile and that is what I want it for anyway.
2 KO's doesn't mean you can't knock someone down... Kenny is a beast. I've seen him in my gym before...
Pacquiao sucks at fighting counter punchers and is prone to getting well timed and running into punches. What's new?
As much as I lost tons of respect for Manny after the put and cry post fight tantrum this is nothing. I never get why people diss on fighters for issues at training camp. The whole point of training camp, I would think, would be to challenge yourself and make all the dumb mistakes in camp so you don't do it when it counts. What good is it to spar if you are not challenged?
Ah ****. Yea me too, well a couple of his GG titles anyway. I miss watching the W-MI GG @ the Wyoming National Guard Armory since I moved.
I like Murat here, but rooting for Jordan.
Well we know how that turned out.....
On a side note they moved the W-MI GG from the National Guard Armory to the Delta Plex this year.
I am a bit biased as I watched Jordan all through his golden gloves career and early pro career. That being said I was dissapointed with his Thomas performance and still think a new corner is his best bet. Hope he pulls it through. He is a hard puncher at Cruiser. Limited opposition to date though.
