Seen that before, great interview and great boxing personality.
Here's another cool segment on Pep from ESPN Classic.
One time in a corner, a guy's saying, "I want to fight Willie Pep! Dammit, I want to fight Willie Pep!" Then the trainer says, "How many times I have to tell ya? You are Willie Pep!" :biggthump
In a plane crash, 5 months later he is back in the ring..... these fighters today have no excuses!!!

Most wins ever, amazing stuff. I've thought it was interesting how champs would defend on and off through many fights.
I didn't know he was still alive. Thanks
He passed away in 2006. I think the only guy still alive (of any note) from that era is Jake "The Raging Bull" LaMotta.
Great post! "Boxing and Running. There is a difference".
Thanks.
"If it wasn't for Sandy Saddler I'd still be champion of the world" :lol1:
Great video. Lot of great characters from that era. His lookalike Basilio was very sharp and quick witted up until the end as well.
What is weird, is that interview, took place from a guy who worked for a local cable company here in Nova Scotia. They got that interview from a dude who used to have a show on the local free community channel.
Boxing used to be so big here in Nova Scotia. When I was a kid it was everywhere. We put out names Like Sam Langford and George Dixon. Now there is nothing.
So much history and potential future history collecting dust.
