Its been 8 years since GGG said "154-168" and during more than half that time GGG was the unified MW champion.
How old was GGG when he said 154-168 and how many dudes stepped up to that plate? None. GGG was over 30 at that point.
Now would it be fair to ask Canelo right now same age to move back down to 154 to fight anyone right now?
Or was Canelo bless to have A side backing and an early start to his professional career?
The more c.ock you wanna suck the more stupid you guys look everyday.
Oh GGG fans on suicide watch! Nah. Were sitting here eating popcorn.
Believe froch wanted the fight and ggg asked for a catchweight
Thats what Froch said but we don't know the details of those negotiations. And wasn't that something Froch just mentioned within the last year too? Why wait to mention that till now?
I heard it a while ago, before he retired.
I'm not completely sure but I believe that a catchweight was why he turned it down. And before he retired a fight overseas with froch was a good pay day
Edit: Just found one of the reports, it was from 2015 after the groves ko
Ah that's right. One last domestic scrap before he retired.
And could be because in 2015 GGG was unified.
Thats really the big problem with GGG. He said 154-168 in 2013 to boost his profile but it didn't work. So he stuck to 160 and started to collect titles.
2015 was a rough year for GGG. Ward comes calling. He becomes unified and the WBC mandatory. Froch. forgot about all that ward drama, and I believe degale also accepted his challenge back when he was undefeated
The bolded , I wish he would go back to 140 ...
Yea. But I think hes hesitant cause his stable mate is running things down there rn.. I honestly favor him over ramirez too
No.. every month shit every year someone states this and then people go nuts over the next big boxing match and completely forget about mmas champ of the week..
Totally depends on the situation. Crawford, for instance, didn't move up at all from 135 to 147. Crawford was already in the ring in the mid 150's. Same for Canelo finally "moving up" to middleweight when he was already in the ring in the mid 170's while fighting at 154.
Young fighters can dehydrate an incredible amount for fights. Not being a weight bully anymore is hardly reason for accolades.
Crawford took a fight on short notice against Prescott I believe at 140 before he cleaned out 135 and 140 and he completely manhandled him which took a lot of the luster away from what he did after that lol.
Canelo cotto Crawford Chavez Jr.. I always gave those guys a lot of flack at their lower weight classes cause you could tell there was just a strength advantage from their natural weight
Also the rigo Loma fight was a complete disgrace. Especially when rigo wanted to fight Loma in his lower weight classes previously but hey.. he signed the dotted line.
Yeah, he fought old Cotto, old Mosely, old Golovkin (who still gave him a tough time), shot Kovalev and overrated Smith. Besides weak ass Callum, the only prime guys he faced in the group you named are Floyd and Jacobs. BJS is a good fighter, but let's be honest here, besides a slight possibility of outboxing Canelo for a few rounds, what real threat is he? Face it, the guy rarely fights anyone whom is considered likely to beat him, or even give him a real challenge. And don't give me that, "Maybe he's just that good" crap.
??? At the time he fought ggg he was considered the "boogeyman".. and he also fought lara and trout who many people thought could/did beat him.
Just as you can put an asterisk on canelos opponents, every single fighter terrance has beat has an asterisk. He has one of the weakest resumes I've ever seen from someone that people have claimed to he p4p
Idiot. Charlo isnt even a slick fighter.. andrade has fought no one and asks for premier pay days..
Canelo has fought Jacob's trout kirkland floyd and lara (who is cuban but might be the slickest aside from floyd)
crawfords the one who has something against heartbeats cause he hasnt fought a fighter with a pulse..
You said after you beat Loma that there was a problem in boxing. Too many guys calling themselves champions, but never really fighting the fights the fans want to see, cherry picking easy opponents, making all sorts of excuses like you can't cross the street and gotta give me more money, catchweights, protecting your 0. You said all of that and you were right bro. This is the problem with boxing and you said you were gonna fix it by fighting all the best and that you didn't care about your 0. You just wanted a legacy of beating as many elite guys as possible.
Now, you did a complete 360, all this talk I hear about how you're superior to Haney, Tank, Garcia, how they all the B side, how they need to wait their turn, gtfo. Demanding a ridiculous 10 mil to fight Haney, but then Haney offers you4 mile, and instead you fight this Kambosas guy that none of us now for way less money?
It sounds like you care only about protecting your 0 and nothing else.
I hope you prove me wrong. That statement you made after the Loma fight made me hope but right now it seems like you're actin like more of a diva than Manny, Floyd, Canelo, GGG, any of these guys ever did. if he isnt careful arum is gonna turn him into the next nicholas walters
360 is to go full circle. I think you meant to say 180.
Hahaha
I was thinking the same thing. Two Words: Mikey Garcia
Exactly. Mikey was a top p4p fighter and lost years off his career suing tr.. a case he won but at what cost
Fighters just don't learn that Top Rank, sooner or later, is going to screw you over. It's hard to even feel bad for these guys now, if you don't learn from history you're destined to repeat it.
Yea. I dont understand why people seem to think top rank is better than the other companies.. they are the oldest and shadiest
Everybody knows Americans are obese slobs. Stop embarrassing us. 130 is around the average weight for a guy of Loma's height.
This is true but 130 is also pushing it. I'm 5'11 with a very fast metabolism and I struggle to get over 180.
My girl weights like 120 lol and she isnt a big girl by any means
Martinez wins. He was something else before Fat Pothead Zombie Jr wrecked his knee.
This
If slow ass Judah stunned and knocked down Floyd imagine what Martines would have done.
You're crazy. Judah was just as fast as floyd in those days and floyd was counter punching pac man with ease. That's not regular hand speed
Yet another "I hate GGG" thread with a touch of Trump derangement syndrome thrown in.
I'd expect nothing more from a clown like you.
Yeah, anybody can jump divisions and find the weakest link to fight. Your boy is a joke and a hype job. Makes perfect sense why you'd be a fan, chump
Yet they dont jump divisions and still fight the weakest links in their division aside from maybe like 3 fights...
8-4 type of UD for Floyd. Floyd was too fast, too smart, too defensively sound, too agile, and all around better than Martinez in every category but power. Sergio never faced anyone the caliber of Floyd. Cotto would've knocked him out when he had good knees. There's levels and Martinez is well below Floyd and even Cotto. The size wouldn't help someone trying to outbox Floyd and not really using the size advantage. His length wouldn't help as much either since he wasn't really fast. He would've been pull countered all night.
Crazy. Cotto gets kod against a prime Martinez.. there is a reason he took the fight when he did
