Would entering one white collar boxing competition mean refusal in amateur gyms? I'm wanting to perform in front of an audience at least once before I am set up to begin my amateur career, this is because of miss matches etc, you can get coaches lying about your ability etc just to make their top fighters look good with knockouts and all of that.
As explained above, white collar boxing, losses aren't recorded so I'd like to try it first and then I'll have a better idea on if I'm any good, to go 0-1 due to a coach that's building my hopes up for their benefit wouldn't be great.
It could do, there was a guy who used to box at my gym that came in bruised up, trainer asked him where he got it then told him that he knows he was in a white collar bout and kicked him out. It's because they don't go on your record, a guy could have 15 white collar bouts then walk into an amateur gym pretending to have 0, it isn't right.
Wouldn't worry about performing infront of an audience, once you step into the ring you don't really notice them.
"before I am set up to begin my amateur career, this is because of miss matches etc, you can get coaches lying about your ability etc just to make their top fighters look good with knockouts and all of that"
You don't get coaches lying about your ability at all, you haven't even been to a gym yet so what are you talking about ?, "because of miss matches" right so you want to have unrecorded bout so you can get in the ring with some guy who has never been in front of an audience either and slap him around ?, if there's any miss matches it won't be because a gym "wants to make their top fighters look good" (:lol1::lol1::lol1:) it will be because you're better than the other guy, something genuinely went wrong with the matchmaking or because one of the people have had unrecorded fights.
White collar boxing doesn't count but it is the only way to get the experience of being in a ring and performing in front of an audience.
Don't ask the gym because you want them to notice you first. It gets embarrassing looking desperate. Boxing gyms know everyone loses interest and a small minority keep grinding.
You're an idiot, how does it look embarrassing asking to join a gym ?.
Many amateur places won't allow someone has done a lot of White collar to join their gym, if they recognize you.
All them English breakfasts and roast dinners, fuel for the country and the reason we produce the best heavyweights !. You don't see Ruiz or Wilder eatin no Yorkshire or black pudding, clear answer as to why Fury and Joshua are killin it.
I didn't look at the list but any list without Armstrong on it it obviously a joke.
That's what I found odd, Monte is a respected historian and usually puts out good stuff so where is Armstrong, unless he ranks him at another weight (likely Feather) instead and because of that he excludes him from the Welterweights ?, but then Armstrong's run at Welter was better than his others.
**** knows.
To say Floyd Mayweather isn't a Top 10 WW is fine.
To say Floyd Mayweather isn't an ATG boxer is legitimately one of the stupidest things a human being could say.
What do you think to Armstrong not being on there and not even getting a mention ?
Agree Mayweather isn't a top 10 welter but to say he isn't an ATG is kinda silly.
Bit strange there's no mention of Homicide Hank in his list though, not even in the notes where he mentions Griffith. Armstrong being missing from the list is a bigger bewilderment than Mayweather not being there.
50,000+ posts of making up excuses for Floyd, and going strong. Lol
Exactly, why not just put Kev's post instead of spamming
"See Kev's posts."
Seems real ****in silly, why bother spamming the same **** over and over if he can't debate for himself.
"Ugh this guy brings up a valid point / wants to argue about Floyd's career, can't do that myself but need to post to make it look like I have some kind of impact or am somehow a figure here, let's direct them to Kev's posts without quoting or linking people too them, that way I don't need to have an argument with someone I may lose and I still made myself known. Hopefully they can't be bothered looking for Kev' post either which is why I didn't link or quote him."
Seems kinda ****in silly and not worth ya time, people come on this forum to talk and debate boxing.
Edit: Although I've only just started posting again on this acc, NSB was always a ****hole and these days it seems History Section isn't exactly the same as it was back in the day, is it standard now to post just to try and get someone else to argue for you ?.
:) ... OK, OK... but, but: "talented as a young boxer, Tarver deserted the gym at the age of 14"... right??? :)
Don't see how that changes anything, are you still trying to say that amount of time boxed = who will win the fight ?.
Roy Jones Jr. proved to be a teenage phenomenon in the ring, winning the 1984 U.S. National Junior Olympics (at the age of 15)... :)
Exactly and Tarver had his first professional bout when was 28.
Jose Luis Ramirez vs Julio Cesar Chavez
Lupe Pintor vs Wilfredo Gomez
Barring them answers and whatnot, are you just asking for close fights / close up until a stoppage and fights that someone was losing before knocking out his opponent ?.
Pac fights his kryptonite and beats him 3 times. Floyd don't give rematches as he knows his opponents took more from first fight than he does and learnt more.
Pac was robbed by Bradley in fight prior so was overly aggressive and reckless.
People did question Pac a legacy after the ko, and Pac came back from that awful ko and answered questions like a boss.
Truly awful thread
Except Mayweather re-matched both of his toughest bouts in Jose Castillo and Maidana and beat them both handily in the rematches. Marquez was robbed in the 3rd fight with Pacquaio and avenged it with that KO in the 4th.
What about dlh and pac? Many think these 2 beat floyd.
Or how about beating a better version of someone you beat in nelo
Because the 'many' people that think Pac and DLH beat Floyd usually have some kind of damage to their brain, case in point.
So no one answered basically he can say what ever he wants? He’s OK to be a bigot?
I mean what're you going to do about him being a bigot ?, moaning about it on a forum isn't going to change anything and who really gives a **** about what he's saying, he punches people in the head for a living and you're expecting to be some kind of role model ?.
Let's make another thread about how angry we are at someone who not only punches people in the head for a living but takes punches to the head for our own morbid amusement, no one gives a **** and protesting it won't change anything. He's OK to be whatever the **** he wants as long as he's not hosting lynches or hurting people.
So do you think you will hit a person 6'6 harder then you will hit a guy 4'7?
More variables to take in than just height but if say I'm 5'5 in that situation and both guys weigh the same, have the same training and everything else then yea the guy punching up is going to hit me harder than someone who is 6'6 and punching downwards.
Edit: Read it wrong but it still applies, I'm 6'0 yeah I'd hit the guy who was 6'6 a lot harder than I would 4'7 unless I lowered the stance and made it so I was hitting more shoulder level, speaking about straight rights and jabs, hooks you can get plenty of power throwing horizontal i,e hook to the body you drop your arm so it's level to the guys body, you don't throw a hook to the body punching downwards do you. Trying to hook a guy to the head you get more power throwing upwards as well, can be quite awkward throwing a hook at a guys head when he's some amount smaller than you.
I agree with that, just saying you get more leverage going forward or down then up....Once again damn good win by Joshua
You lose leverage punching down.
Povetkin was punching "UP" and that is different then taking punches from heavy hitters your height punching down on you..still very good win by Joshua
You have more power punching up than you do punching down.
I am really missing the point as Frazier isnt even close to being in the discussion
And what he said doesn't really mean anything because it was all "if" this and that happened, what happened outside of the ring means nothing when we're talking about just the sport.
What stats do tell us is that the fight didn't get to the 15th and Ali has the win.
"**** your facts and stats"
Ye **** what really happened because you're not a fan of Ali, don't understand people who have this tunnel vision and are incapable of seeing anything other than what they think is right.
How ironic that you call me tunnel vision, when that's exactly the crap your typing.
Tunnel vision is jumping straight to the conclusion i dislike i fighter because i don't kiss their arse every statement i make about them. I have a huge framed picture of Ali in my gym, not Frazier FYI.
The stats tell us Ali won and is possibly the greatest ever. The stats DON'T tell us that Ali was a bee's dick away from losing and being just a very good heavyweight.
Stats tell us that a fighter with a 30-0 record LOOKS like a great undefeated fighter.
Anyway, look up the Dunning-Kruger effect, as i think you suffer from it.
He had already beaten Frazier twice, losing that third fight wouldn't have affected his legacy all that much at all.
"Tunnel vision is jumping straight to the conclusion i dislike i fighter because i don't kiss their arse every statement i make about them"
No having tunnel vision is being unable to see from different perspectives and being unable to understand what other people think, you stated what you think in an aggresive manner and immediatly dismissed anything else.
"**** your facts, real heads know whats up"
Because facts and what actually happened don't mean anything to you, just your own opinion, telling people to be ignorant to what actually happened and whose hand was raised at the end just because it doesn't match up to your own opinion is being ignorant and unable to see any other way. It would've been fine if you just casually shared your opinion but to come in and just share something that doesn't actually mean that much in terms of the topic but just to stretch your internet dick because you're not happy about something that happened is having tunnel vision.
Worse people have made it into a hall of fame at some point, wouldn't surprise me if he did get into 1 with what he's done already although that wouldn't necessarily mean much, the bar to get into a hof isn't exactly high compared to other sports.
