Why people are claiming Floyd got hit a lot is beyond me. Zab connected on 18% of his punches, and I think 282 of punches thrown were jabs.
47% to 18%...stats don't lie.
Why disqualify a guy who was on the receiving end of what incited the riot, and took no part in the riot whatsoever. Floyd did everything correctly, everyone else around him, the Judah camp included, didn't. You can't penalize Floyd for doing what he's supposed to.
Mosley called mayweather out twice and floyd wouldnt come up in weight until mosley moved, and then he offers a fight when dude gets a broke nose, and then when mosley calls him out AGAIN mayweather says no cause he wont fight a "sparring partner" Floyd knows Oscar put some fear into him and he dont want no part of Mosley, so why dont you get your head out of mayweathers ass long enough to keep you from posting things you know nothing about obviously
Mosley called out Mayweather because he isn't getting the money he wants. he made less than 4 million to fight Collazo, and there is no one out there at his weight that would get him the bigg purse he wants except Mayweather.
Now, you ask why wouldn't Mayweather take that deal seeing he's been calling out Mosley for years? Because now Shane will try and split the pot with him when Floyd is making far more per fight than Shane, and Shane fought the better fighter in Collazo than Mayweather did in his last bout at 147, Baldomir.
Basically, now that's it's fiscally convenient for Shane, and Shane realizes his career is winding down, that it's finally OK to take up Mayweather's offer. However, Floyd can see right through it because Shane's offer is completely transparent in why he is chosing to offer it now.
There is no fight out there right now not involving Oscar that would come close to 2.15 million. The 2 million mark has only been broken once, and to expect it to happen again anytime soon is foolish.
Either way, here's a decent list:
Corrales - domination of a bigger, undefeated champion
Gatti - to see Mayweather take someone to the woodshed that wasn't expected to lose that badly
Augutus/Burton - to see Floyd get hurt
Corley - if you want to laugh at what some people interpret as "rocked"
Castillo I - if you want to see Floyd's closest fight (the DLH fight being a SD is a joke)
man tredh are you blind as well, name at least 10 fights in recent memory that came down to a judges decision that were accurate callings on what happened in the fight, judges dont know shit about boxing, they see pretty colors and fast flurries and say thats our man
Wow...just wow...
Shane Mosley has been calling him out for years
and floyd only gets that money because HBO is the biggest mayweather mark there is
Got that wrong big guy, Mayweather offered Mosley to fight last November, and offered to move to 135 to fight, and then Mosley went right by 140 and straight to 147.
Next time, try to put your hate aside before making baseless comments.
The De La Hoya fight was very close. The Gatti fight was expected - no surprise there.
I agree with the Corrales fight - lower weight, Mayweather had more power and just exhibited his great skill.
The Zab Judah fight showed Mayweather get knocked down, but he adapts, comes back and dominates.
Let's not get crazy about the Zab fight, yes his glove hit and yes, it should've been a KD. However, to think it was more than a balance issue would be ill-advised. He was not even remotely shook up, and he never left his feet.
Mosley has been wanting a fight his whole career, sure mayweather comes out of the shadows and challenges him when he KNOWS mosley is hurt, who in their right mind would fight at less than 100%? And when Mosley gets better and sends the challenge out again Mayweather ducks him LIKE USUAL
MAYWEATHER CALLED OUT MOSLEY AT 130 WHILE SHANE WAS AT 135, AND SHANE TURNED IT DOWN!!! What about that don't you get? Mayweather had to chase him for 8 years, and now when it's Shane's only big fight option, he wants it. F that.
seriously, do you even watch boxing? Mayweather called out shane last november AND THATS IT, shane has done all the calling out before hand and even just recently, Mayweather knows he will get beat and BAD. You mayweather marks are all the same "Oh hes the greatest fighter ever, ohhhh everyone ducks him...oh hes the best" you all make me laugh, he ducks everyone, Boxing isnt about money , its about putting on a good show, which he doesnt. Mayweather uses the money line to get out of fights against fighters who he knows will beat him. All he is is a scared little girl in a big boys world
Ahem....
On a night when Mayweather was earning $150,000 to fight Rios, Mosley's father, Jack, who was then serving as his manager, asked for a $10 million payday for a potential Mayweather fight.
Mayweather's estranged father, Floyd Sr., rarely agrees with much his son says these days, but he backed Junior's contention that Mosley wanted no part of a fight between the two.
You really think Mosley (who wasn't worth 10 million after the Oscar fights) was worth 10 million while at 135?
True, but you know Don King knows how to shell out that step aside money.
Urkal is 37ish, I don't think he'll step aside for a third time. Not to mention, aren't the Clottey/Margarito winner (if it happens) going to fight the winner of the Cotto/Quintana fight after their mandatories are fulfilled barring losses? I thought that was the whole purpose of getting them on the same cards...or is Arum not willing to do that?
I keep forgeting you guys only came to boxing only to watch pacquioa fight so of course you nutthuggers don't want to read anything negative. You guys are fucking pathetic.
...says the Margarito ass pirate.:owned:
You mean like Margarito, right? Its ok, for you to admit this, Margarito is a dangerous threat for Floyd.
If he fought Tony it would be far less, due to the lack of exposure even compared to Baldomir.
This is ridiculous...loose cannon? Head isn't there half the time? Winded? Those words are the exact opposite that Floyd has worked for his entire career. He is hardly a loose cannon, and is one of if not THEE smartest fighter in the ring today.
Both your views are biased trying to make something out of nothing or just spewing utter bullshit. It's pathetic, really.
A lot of people are also forgetting his recent competition at 147 are two of the faster guys out there in terms of handspeed, Judah could possibly be the fastest. Basically, put a sprinter out there against a bunch of high schoolers, he's going to look unbelievably fast. Next, put that same sprinter in the Olympic trials, he is still just as fast, just his competition is faster so it makes him look more ordinary and human.
Pathetic...keep making crap excuses for your boy. You have a laundry list of compliments, first time in America and he gets outboxed you have an excuse loaded...could it be that Collazo is a lot better than he thought and Ricky can't cut it at 147? It should be obvious what the answer is because Ricky said he'd only fight Floyd at 147 and Floyd isn't exactly a true welter.
Oh man, if anybody took the Collazo fight seriously then they are in for BIG suprises.
Why, because you fail to believe that Ricky can look bad? Go ahead and blame his weight, yadda yadda, all you want, but the truth is he got it taken to him in his rounds by a guy no one gave much thought about. You can disregard that fight all you want, but the people who watched learned a thing or 2 about Hatton.
As for unique styles, I'd say Muhammed Ali's rope-a-dope was pretty unique and effective...let a bigger stronger man wail on you for 8 rounds until he's dead tired, then toy with him till they stop it.
I liked how he said he was the best, called out K9, got that ass harassed, and was the first one to get kicked off...
That was Michael Clarke. Michael Grant was the heavyweight who got abused by Lennox, then got TKOed in 1 punch by McCall cuz he broke his ankle. If the person who posted bothered to read it, it says he was killed in 2003, and Grant has fought since then.
It seems common sense isn't all that common.
excellent video, hes better than mayweather. more tellented when it comes to 'fighting'
credit where it is due. mayweather is a slick 'boxer'by no means is a fight thou.
What is the sport called? Boxing or Fighting?
What is this bullshit? Hatton has no problem at all making 140, infact he has trouble keeping the weight on during the camp (sometimes having to eat upto seven meals a day)!
When most of his weight is water weight from drinking, it's not difficult to shed 20 pounds very quickly and easily.
Margarito earned his #1 ranking by Ring Magazine by fighting and beating top contenders. Ring just bumped Margarito to 2nd once Mayweather made the jump, not fighting one real welterweight, onlyl real welterweight he is going to face is Baldomier. Margarito got his feared status because before he started throwing around millions of dollars for Mayweather and Winky to fight him, nobody wantd to fight him.
Judah chose the number 7 -baldomier- Ring ranked welterweight instead of the 1 -margarito- Ring ranked welterweight to fight.
Ok, after Baldomier, who would you like Mayweather to defend his title against?
Who exactly would be those top contenders you speak about?
Manny Gomez a year after he was ranked by Ring?
Kermit Cintron, whom was as green as could be when they fought, and he nearly pissed himself at the sight of his own blood?
Or was it his win over Lujan, who is nowhere to be found near the top in the new 147 division?
All these "top contenders" are nowhere near the top since 147 got crowded.
For the majority of Americans who haven't seen alot of Ricky Hatton's fights this highlight video sure gives us a greater appreciation of the man. Hatton sure knows how to criple a fighter by destroying the body.
Yup, it's tough beating those opponents in WBU defenses. Ray Oliveira was done before the Hatton fight, and Augustus beat the shit out of him months later. I would hope he would look good against him.
It's pretty easy to level the same criticism at Floyd's competition over the last 4 years, nothing but shot or C/B- fighters. Floyd's still pretty much unproven at elite level above 135lb.
There's nothing wrong with Magee and Thaxton as opponents, especially at that stage of Hatton's development. Magee was a fixture in the top 10 of the rankings before his kidnapping and Thaxton's just got a shot against Freitas, although admittedly he probably shouldn't have. He's still a decent fighter though and Hatton fought him for the British title.
Those 2 aside, Hatton was facing the same guys as the 2 top dogs in the division at the time, and beating them more convincingly. Where was the criticism for Mitchell & Tszyu for fighting Tackie, Philips, Stewart, etc when they've been established at the top for years. Hatton was fighting them on the way up.
You can try to convince yourself all you like with the Collazo fight but anyone who knows anything about Hatton could see that the weight totally fucked him up. He could barely move or throw in comparison to his usual self and he looked tired by the 4th round.
Blaming his weight is crap. He comes down from 175-180 pounds sometimes and hits 140, so 147 isn't an issue. It's the fact he tried to push around a guy who was bigger than him and could take his punches. Ricky can't push the world around like his fans want to make people believe. The Tszyu fight was an abomination of a refereeing job going both directions. Not to mention Tszyu was nearly 36, and had only had 2 fights in over 2 years, so it's not like he was beating a prime Tszyu in there. Ricky isn't this godly fighter who has pounded into submission 41 opponents. Sorry, but 15 WBU defenses is a crock of shit, and outside of 2 of his last 3 fights, Hatton's resume is a laugher. Give Mayweather that resume, and tell me you wouldn't rip on Floyd.
I guess you would take Thaxton and Magee over Judah, seeing as Judah lost because he fell asleep at the wheel vs Baldomir. He was up about 4-2 going into the 7th, and was cruising...just cruising too much.
Last 4 years? How about the first 6 being better than hatton's entire resume. PS, when Floyd was fighting for his first WORLD title at 21, Hatton was fighting 1-2 Kevin Carter in NJ, a guy who ran up an impressive 9-55 record. So please, don't even try and skew resumes because Ricky has 2 big time fights and because both happened in the last 1 1/2 years.
mayweather really dosent look AS impressive @ 147 that he has in the past..looks like he lost speed...do you think the 140 quick mayweather could get the job done vs baldomir? i do
Think of the people he fought at 140, and those he fought at 147.
Judah and Mitchell @ 147
Corley, Bruseles, and Gatti @140.
Which group of fighters is obviously the faster set? 147 without a doubt, so naturally by comparison, he is going to look slower against competition faster than his previous sample set.
Justin Gatlin would look fantastic in a race vs a regular joe, but vs another sprinter, of course he won't look as good.
