I just seen the training video and i seen floyd do his traing, and i seen him do his thing on the bag. Though i don't remember the last time i seen floyd punch in combos, unless im not paying attention which could be the case. And i noticed some things when he was hitting the bag that i didn't like. But then again, he ain't trying to be pefect in front of the public. The training video was impressive, but i seen some that i didn't like, some bad habit you can say. But what really got my attention was when he was jumping rope. Floyd had barley had any air for jumping rope, you could tell he was carring his legs. I wonder how long ago the training video is cause I don't like what i see from floy on the jump rope. I think he may be taking Baldomier lightly, but being Floyd i'll belive that he is not. But imo, don't expect Floyd to use his legs in this fight. And if he does, i'll be very surprised. And i wanted to ask the floyd fans who have probably watching him jump rope before, can he actually jump rope without having to stop and take a breather?
Roger not being there is definently a disadvantage. I don't know about the jump roping. He might have done it right after something he had been where he used a lot of energy. I don't think you can say since we don't have all of his training on camera. I don't think he's taking the fight lightly since he went into training camp a little earlier.

Floyd trains like a mad man, he puts in a lotta work in running and sparring, that's basically all you need. Dont worry about the bag or rope man, if you wanna look at him shine watch him punch the mitts, he's incredible there! And he can punch the mitts for a long period of time, that takes more outta you than sparring sometimes.
I dont know about the rope, we dont know what kind of day of training that was but I am curious to see if not having Roger in camp (and tonight in the corner) will make a difference
This is ridiculous...loose cannon? Head isn't there half the time? Winded? Those words are the exact opposite that Floyd has worked for his entire career. He is hardly a loose cannon, and is one of if not THEE smartest fighter in the ring today.
Both your views are biased trying to make something out of nothing or just spewing utter bullshit. It's pathetic, really.
i resent the comment about you calling baldomir 'limited'. sure, he is not exactly the most athletically gifted, he doesn't have a lot of flash but he does have a lot of heart and determination and he has a great feel for the sport. lots of experience and lots of will. he does throw a lot of punches and he throws very short punches on the inside, which i think floyd wouldn't be used to once he gets on the ropes.
anyway, i think baldomir's best bet was to taunt floyd. make floyd forget his gameplan and fight with his heart. taunt him, mock him, and make him come to you, half steps to close the gap while he punches, and catch him underneath the chin in an exchange, and up the middle in an exchange, don't always aim for his chin, hit him in the forehead, elbows, collar bone, and shoulder joint with short hard shots in the exchanges and do not lead with LOOPING shots. that is the gameplan for baldomir, imo.
What i ment by limited is, he can't box with Mayweather even if he wanted to o, i can't see him being able to cut the ring off on Mayweather cause i dont' think he has the feet to cut off the ring even if he wanted to. And he doesn't have the power to break through Mayweathers guard. And Baldomier is slow comared to Mayweather. And I don't think Baldomier can get Floyd to fight his fight. Can he, yes. But is he willing to do so. In the fights i've seen Baldomier in he hasn't shown me he can fight on the inside, i've seen Mayweather fight on the inside so i know he can if he has too. Floyd wont have his legs for this fight, but i don't think he'll need them. Can Baldomier win, of course he can, but is he willing to make it a dog fight and test his chin, his stamina? We know Mayweather don't like the pressure, but is Baldomier willing to take shots and test his condition to its limits, cause as i've said, Baldomier doesn't hit hard, so he will have to through many punchs, that can eventuallyl break down Floyd. Baldomiers greatest asset in this fight is that Floyd took him lightly.
i partially agree with you ferocity. BUT, as we all know, mayweather is somewhat of a loose cannon. i don't know what the hell is going on with his head half of the time. i've seen him undisciplined while in training (heck, he was eating chips at the judah presser) before. i don't think it has any bearing on the fight. i respect your opinion, though.
i also agree with you about floyd will be picking his shots after the 3rd or 4th round. i do think baldomir will be a suprise package and he will give floyd some very unexpected pressure.
The pressure will be their from Baldomier, but Floyd has to many ways to win and Baldomier is limited. Just looking at the weigh in pictures i can already tell that Baldomeirs weight advantage isn't really going to be their. Best thing for Baldomier is to get Floyd on the ropes and punch him on the stomache shoulders and arms, Mayweather will get away from Baldomiers head shots, so baldomier needs to go for the body shots at least for the first part of the fight. If Floyd wanted to he can box cirlces around Baldmier but i don't think he trained to do this.
hopefully carlos brings a very aggressive gameplan early and the fight is competitive before the 6th, but I think any rounds after that are going to belong to Floyd after he's had time to figure out team Baldomir's strategy.
re ferocity:
most of the training he does for the camera's is just for show. i have read reports that the gameplan and strategy is never, ever filmed before a bout. i really don't think the way he was jumping rope is really going to effect the fight, especially considering the fact that mayweather is a consumate professional inside the ring - unfortunately not outside the ring :).
I aggree but him jumping rope was not anything special because he didn't have the wind to keep going without having to take a breather. He just seemed wasted. I guess after reading some of the hype he was getting for this training video i expected him to look flawless. But again, i just didn't like what i saw.
Im not saying him jumping rope the way he is, is going to affect his fighting, what im saying, or trying to say is that him jumping rope, imo, is an indication that he's not in the best of shape he could possably be in for this fight with Baldomier. So this in turn affects how he will fight, because to box, is too waste energy, to fight or to stay flat footed is to conserve energy.
I belive floyd will be flat footed for this fight, he may box for 1 or 2 rounds, the;n settle down in the 3 and start picking his shots.
1 must remember jump roping doesnt win u fights
No, it doesn't but imo, its a must for training. And imo, that shows a lack of conditioning. If after you do your thing in the gym wheather you sparr or not, and are still able to jump rope -without stoping and no rest period- then you are in good condition.
Skipping rope really fast, can help get get wind in a fight. Its like sprinting. If you run, and then add sprinting to your runs you will feel the difference in sparring. Best thing to do also is runniing stairs, that shit gets you fit.
He looked gassed. I was surprised, cause i've read some post where they said he looked great in the training video.
What was funny, is how he was trying to show off on the jump rope but then he would get winded.
Floyd needs to watch the masters with the jump roping skills, Ray Robinson and Roberto Duran.

i think i've seen an earlier training video, might have been from his fight with gatti, where he's using the rope, and he looks very good in it, the rope work he does in the baldomir training video doesn't compare.

His sit ups are impressive. As far as the bag goes, from what I saw it looks like he was just trying to keep a consistant repition for a certain amount of time. He looks like hes pushing himself to me.
I thought he was pushing himself a bit too, but I don't remember the last time i seen floyd let his hands go like that. And what he is doing on the bag, imo, is perfect for when you are tired and this way because of this rountine, even being tired in a fight he should be able to throw combos in burst even if he's tired because of this routine, at least thats what i think.
I heard Mayweather only ever works on technique in sparring, everything else (pads, bags, rope etc) is pure conditioning and fanciful stuff. He also has no schedule, trains at all hours (might ring Roger to bring the pads round at 3am or something and Roger would have to get out of bed!), like Hamed said he did in '94.
I think some of that may be bull or could be true - i don't belive it. Usally imo, you can tell a fighters condition when he starts jump ropeing and how he jumps rope, this being after he does his workout and sparring if he sparrs that day.
I don't think Floyd runs as much as he says he does, or he is doing what he wants and when he wants instead of sombody pushing him to do the training, even when he doesn't want too. But its working for him. But if his opponet was Margarito, i'd be more worried based on what i saw. Im not saying i know this or that, but like everybody, we all have opinions. But i bet Floyd will fight with Baldomier, and i think he's training like that, and imo, he doesn't seem to have the wind to give a great boxing lesson even if he wanted to. I say Floyd by ud.
