I honestly thought he was smaller, so I guess the Golovkin fight really could only have happened at the full 168 limit. But then again Ward has also stated when he moves up there is no moving down because he doesn't want to play with his body like that.
Yup, GGG should go up and down in weight, not ward.
Looks like Ward has taken firm hold of Mayweather's throne as most hated. Pointless to waste energy on these idiots. Just sit back, be patient, and watch Ward wipe out HBO's stable of light heavyweights while Golovkin continues to beat up on no-hopers while calling out retired WWs and blown-up JMWs.
Ward is a man, Golovkin is a coward.

Hahahaha, you crack me up every time. You should try comedy central, there is definitely comedian lurking!!!
lol. Golovkin is openly hiding from fights against Andre Ward and at least two 154lb fighters (Lara, Andrade) and you want to talk about "beastly"? gtfoh.
Gennady Golovkin is a bordering on 34 year old middleweight fighter, who has yet to fight anyone decent and is looking for at least one big payday before his body fails him.
The man's been a professional fighter for a decade now and no one knows how good he actually is yet. Let that sink in for a moment.
Sink what? That GGG is scared of Ward, Lara and Andrade? That GGG is bad boxer/fiighter since he 'fought nobodies'.
That level of stupidity really made strong impression on me...
So far I read 15 pages and it seems like 50% of posters sincerely believe Canelo can beat GGG.
Even Mexicans don't believe he can beat GGG, but I see a lot of Phlomos saying he can. Wonder why is that?
Well it is easy to comprehend.
Either Canelo is an IDIOT if he agrees to fight next GGG and lose momentum
Or
Canelo will avoid GGG since he is smart enough knowing that he is not on GGG level yet and he need more advantages to level the fight (age, catchweight etc...). That will make those fanboys IDIOTS thinking that Canello could win since the man himself does not.
Within 2 weeks we will find out who is really IDIOT...
Yet you have an avvy trying to discredit Danny Garcia who has one of the best resumes of any new generation fighter. But hey, I'm the troll and biased fanboy...
And you are calling me a troll because I believe Canelo and Cotto are both superior to GGG.
You have extreme butthurt but it'll never change the fact that Canelo and Cotto are greater than GGG and would most likely dismantle him
They are both inferior fighters/boxers compared to GGG and THAT is the only FACT. Rest is your OPINION!!!
I like that you're very informative but i don't agree with some of that stuff. Particularly the Rubio sh1t. F*ck him.
You do not like it, but it is THE TRUTH. Deal with it...
Every "boxing specialist" says Ward will kick the sh1t out of GGG so he must be one helluva puncher.
So my vote goes to Andre Ward. He is great boxer, but his resume is overpriced. Too many eurobums/drained fighters on his professional resume. And you can see that inactivity, age and injuries leaved huge mark on his performance. He is not the fighter he used to be. In my mind there is no doubt he will get an L next year if 2 conditions are met - if he fights at all, and if he fights anyone of a note (badou jack, degale, stevenson, kovalev,GGG)
The answer is yes, Canelo looked fairly ripped at the 30 day weigh in for Cotto he was 168lbs in that picture.
155 is the absolute minimum Canelo can make he struggles to make that. the guy is a fully fledged middleweight.
lol@ the comparison with Oscar a naturally much smaller man fighting at 160 close to the end of his career.
I think it takes time for Canello. Now he weights 155 day before and 180 at the ring. He will need time to make 160 at the weight in and 190 at the ring. It is not an easy task to weight 190 with the height of only 5 ft 9 in...
Thats not what I was implying, I meant that he is on a similar level to those guys, not that he fights the same. Ward is a level above all these guys including Degale. He might not have faced a fighter with that skillset but I can't see him struggling with it. He is superior on the outside and to be honest I think he is better on the inside too, Degale is a dangerous fighter, but Ward doesn't make the type of mistakes that for example Dirrell does. He isn't that sloppy but he is equally gifted, if not more so. He really is a tall ask for any fighter, I think Kovalev has a good shot, but other than that I can't see any of these guys giving him much issues.
Are you implying that movie actor from Creed is better than real life boxer? Andre Ward is only an actor that portrays fictional character you dumb ass...
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3076658/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1
Because he's open to counter punches, he's a tough strong fighter and has no fear but that could be his downfall. His defense really isn't good and he's flat footed. GGG's biggest strengths are his punching power and his confidence, get a fighter that toughs it out and can box, he could get found out in the later rounds and then he becomes another Ruslan.
Why do you think he has bad defense and he is flatfooted? He just have different style than western fighters. You do not get 350 wins at amateur level without GREAT defense, and he certainly has GREAT footwork. He just happens to have GREAT economy during fight, so he reduced unnecessary movement to a minimum. That helps him fighting on the same level all 12 rounds. And he adjusts to his opponent. Stevens have great power, so he was much more cautious with than say Gaele. So Gaele placed much better punch but there was no power, and GGG easily KOed him.
Maybe mods are fanboys like yourself.
Ain't you the same guy who thinks Charlie Zelenoff is the best P2P in the world? Go discuss with Charlie, you guys know boxing...
I worry for Floyd in this potential bout, Andre Berto has killer instinct,
Quick hands, durable and a tougher motherf*cker then GGG.
He doesn't just come forward throwing wild shots like Golovkin, he picks his punches with precision and venom. He attacks at awkward angles and has demonstrated extreme ring generalship in the last few years,
He mentally breaks you down and rips you apart.
Tough fight for TBE. I wish him the best but I am worried.
Agree 100%. Fight will be much better than May-Pac. So PPV is worth at least 150USD. Anything under will be bargain. Cant wait..
It's laughable. And people are seriously underrating Golovkins defense. He is a master boxer.
If they were the same size, it would be 50:50 fight. They are more or less the same boxing ability. But given the fact that GGG is MW, and Ward is LHW I think GGG is 2 to 1 underdog. And that are not too bad odds for a such huge difference in size. It is like Ward fighting Klitschko. It would be 16:1, not 2 to 1...
all grteat fighters move up yet Gargleovkin wants to drain ward down in weight knowing that hes on the verge of moving up???hmm wow i think gargleovkin thought of doing catchweights when he was feasting upon blown up jr mw's like rosado and stevens and ishida
why is ggg so afraid of moving up in weight like all greats have?
all grteat fighters move up yet ward the turd drained dawson down in weight knowing that hes on the verge fainting at that weight???hmm wow i think ward the turd thought of doing catchweights when he was feasting upon blown up mw's like abraham and bika
why is ward the turd so afraid of moving up in weight like all greats have?
I ****ing say it to him. He wont punch me because if he does he loses his licence to box. Il say I **** his wife and he wont do jack ****.
Yeah, but his twin brother Max will shove your stinkin teeth down your throat
...
But my question is when has Ward called out Kovalev or even said he wanted to fight him? The first time he was asked about him he said "What would I do after that?" Basically verbally avoiding him.
Meanwhile, Golovkin at the least offered him a fight at 164 and Ward has been hush-hush about it.
So Ward does not what he should do after fighting at 175? But Golovkin should fight him at 168 and than???? Fight leftovers at 168?
Silly old man with double standards. GGG can go back and forth 160 and 168, but primadona can't do the same???
Ward is not in the same situation. He is younger than Golovkin and already has a much better career. He hasn't asked to fight Kovalev at any silly catchweights. He wants to beat Golovkin at 168 before moving to 175 and fighting Kovalev.
Boxing fans want to see both fights. Scared GGG fans don't.
So you are Ward manager? Manage him to move up. We don't want to see his silly ass anymore. Move up and get lost..
So a past prime b hop can but not a prime fresh guy that's been in no wars can't?
Punchers get overrated, kov is the goods but Andre ward is a higher calibre fighter than even bhops at this point who is wily, and shrwed but his punch output has been crap for years
IMO ward outboxes kov...ward has the subtle skills of bhop, more physically gifted than pascal, and you can't measure his poise n concentration
Kov and GGG getting beat by this guy then watch all the excuses arise
Ward more physically gifted than Pascal? Are you blind or blinded by your love?
Pasacal is all about physical gift by nature. Ward does not come close to him in that aspect. Pascal is faster, bigger, stronger and has better chin.
And Ward fought only b+ caliber European fighters in Abraham and Kessler and b++ in Froch. Rest are bigger tomato cans than GGG ones...
Really? You're trying to pass off an apparent offer (which Ward says was never presented to him personally lol) from LAST YEAR when Ward was going through legal issues with another promoter as being relevant to now. An offer which Ward himself never turned down? THAT is your big trump card?
That has now been spun into "Ward turned down Kessler for his comeback" :lol1:
Typically shadiness from one of the best at it on the board.
Dirk is RIGHT. Offers should be made on monthly basis so they would be valid. Any offer older than one month is automatically invalid.
Also following offers will be discarded automatically:
1. Offers for less than 2 mil $,
2. Offers for fighting anywhere else but Oakland,
3. Offers made by any legit 168 fighter*
*GGG does not fall into this group, but he is not eligible 'cause of unforeseen circumstances
Murray was up 3-0 until GGG caught him in the 4th. Gennady is really slow & his defense is lackluster.
If the ring wasn't 16ft, then I'm confident that it could had gone to the scorecards.
Great observation, must agree with that statement.
And if you look closely 4th round, I would score it 10:10.
Without a doubt Murray only slipped 2 times, there was no evidence of fist contact.....
Funny thing is Canelo HAS actually fought guys like Mayweather , Cotto or even Lara .
Andre fucking Berto fought Mayweather. So you are saying basically Nelo is on the same level with Berto? You must be right...
Stevens is still pretty dangerous now.
all the sad, lonely, pathetic, social anxiety-ridden "black power" losers on this website started to like malignaggi because he kept insulting pacquaio
what else could it possibly mean larry?
Like / Upvote!
Nothing for Ward fans to post. Team ggg had an opportunity to put themselves in boxings drivers seat, instead team ggg insisted on a catch weight that killed boxings best matchup. Now they got the ggg ball gaggers (like you) convinced that a Lemiux match is legitimate and PPV worthy. Anyone with any sense views this fight as another ggg mismatch. 33 years old and still not one A list opponent. The clocks ticking
I am happy that GGG and Mohammedi are out of the picture. Now Ward can move to 175 permanently and fight Kovalev in Russia next. That will assure him immortality. Oh, wait....
GGG is dominant against sh1tty competition. His best win to date is Daniel Geale, maybe Lemieux, which is worse. You do know that educated fight people are capable of seeing holes in a fighter's game, even in fights he wins. And translate those wholes and how better fighters would expose them. Which is why as far back as the Mosley fight, a fight Pacquiao dominated, most fight people saw how a lil lateral movement and a constant jab exposed holes in Manny that night. Most people saw how Omar Navarez subtle defense exposed holes in Donaire's offensive and defensive games. And how when in with better fighters, goth would likely be beaten. GGG is good, but he's not unbeatable. And he's not perfect. Every fighter has holes
Well I agree with the rocket science. If you have damn good fighter and match him with a better fighter, he will probably lose. Sounds like a plan. The strange part is to find a better fighter than GGG at MW division. Please enlighten me who could it be...
He didn't always say next. when he didn't you defended it by saying he was just answering a question, that is the same thing Ward did here.
as for his boxing skill-obviously he is going to box better when in with guys that suck. when he is in witha good boxer, he didn't box as well. that is expected, no different than Canelo boxing beautifully in with some but looked terrible in with Floyd.
Self promotion? thats what GGG did when he said his dream fight was floyd at 154. i
If you allowe GGG a pass for things he's said because he was answering a question in an interview, the same should be extended here.
Proof please?
