I think Kovalev will whip that ass all night and go for broke entering the 10th or so, leaving Ward a shivering wreck on the floor.
If Ward steps up to try and snatch the gold from the number 1 LHWT's waist he deserves all the credit in the world. But he is NEVER winning that fight let's be real.
yeah....history told us that BHop was capable of taming young lions even as a senior citizen....so people had the right to believe he could pull one more rabbit outta his grey hat....but which ELITE fighter has Krusher EVER iced?!?....you do know SOG is not as old as BHop and will be harder to catch clean by a big shot...you do know that right?...or you just a bitter little b*tch who gets upset whenever someone slaps you with FACTS?!?...sit down bro...grown folks are taking over this thread
BHop didn't have anything for Kovalev and neither does Ward.
You're going to be crying your beady w!gger eyes out when Ward gets his jaw smashed lol
Daggum is shot.
Used to be a pure troll but somewhere along the way he fell in love with Golovkin and has become everything he once hated.
Desperately defending a guy whose resume is worse than both Calzaghe and Ottke's during their reigns at 168 :lol1:
i thought this was a kovalev-ward thread. lets leave my love for ggg out of it and talk about my love for kovalev!
So a past prime b hop can but not a prime fresh guy that's been in no wars can't?
Punchers get overrated, kov is the goods but Andre ward is a higher calibre fighter than even bhops at this point who is wily, and shrwed but his punch output has been crap for years
IMO ward outboxes kov...ward has the subtle skills of bhop, more physically gifted than pascal, and you can't measure his poise n concentration
Kov and GGG getting beat by this guy then watch all the excuses arise
Ward more physically gifted than Pascal? Are you blind or blinded by your love?
Pasacal is all about physical gift by nature. Ward does not come close to him in that aspect. Pascal is faster, bigger, stronger and has better chin.
And Ward fought only b+ caliber European fighters in Abraham and Kessler and b++ in Froch. Rest are bigger tomato cans than GGG ones...
:lol1::lol1::lol1: @ the notion that Krusher took it easy on the old legend and carried him....man WTF is going on around here....I log back on after having a GREAT day celebrating my daughter's first birthday expecting level headed exchanges only to read some bs about Krusher holding back against BHop until the final round....stopping BHop wasn't on Krusher's agenda or what?!?...a KO artist with power in BOTH guns just walked the old man to the finish line huh?...GTFOH
People in this thread talking about how Kovalev will just manhandle or "ragdoll" Ward are seriously underestimating Andre's strength and in the process of getting ready for this fight, I expect he'll close that gap a bit a bit more.
Just as I expect Ward will be stronger @lhw than he was at smw, it also looks to me like Kovalev continues to improve his boxing skills.
Like somebody else in here said, this is the best fight that can be made atm with the possible exception of Hi-Tech vs El Chacal.
Hope it happens next year.
May the best man win. :boxing:
... That's why I repeatedly said here that Beterbiev is the best opponent for Ward... Beterbiev loves fighting inside... and he bangs like a mule... :)
EXACTLY!!! You know your Boxing Bro! I agree 1000% and that has been in the back of my mind for awhile now. I can admit as a Ward fan, THAT is the guy that worries me the most as far as guys at 175 because like you said he can fight inside and get rugged inside but also look at the way he is built, he is more compact with a very strong build so pushing him around will be a struggle for him

Ward likely have to work from the outside vs Beterbiev! Arthur Abraham was one of the few who did a great job vs Ward inside game and stopping his clinches an to Ward Credit he switched up and beat Abraham from the outside. However with Beterbiev he can not only fight inside but he can also walk you down and cut the ring out and he lets his hands go way more than Abraham does. That is not taking anything away from, Kovalev, Stevenson or others because all will be very Difficult fights but stylistically Beterbiev could be the hardest to deal with for Ward
Well that ugly fighting gets boring after a while bro. People wanna see good action. Hearing fans Describe the way Ward would win vs Krusher is already boring me.
OK? :dunno:

Even if he was losing, Ward would survive 12 if he had to. He wouldn't let himself be knocked out, I don't think.
That being said, using Hopkins as proof is not a good example. Kovalev took it really easy on Hopkins until that last round, when Hopkins ran his mouth and Kovalev damn near killed him. The old guy would have gotten krushed if he did that earlier in the fight.
Ward would def try to make it ugly, a lot of illegal holding and sneaky head butts.
But kov is bigger and stronger, and can out his punches together, I think he really hurt Ward.
I favor kov. I don't see how ward outboxing kovalev from the outside meaning ward will have to get inside to win and to get inside he will have enter kovalev's firing range. Kovalev is excellent at moving his feet and he will also probably throw ward to the ground if he keeps clinching.
kovalev's length and footwork will give ward major problems.
It's clear a small percentage of you even know about the ins and outs of boxing .. Ward will technically pick him apart for 12 rounds if he is on his program , that boy has been almost perfect since 12 .. I highly doubt he makes a "Boone" mistake with kovalev at this point .. Ward takes the fight 8 rounds to 4
I stopped paying attention here
Dre leaves his chin up when he throws. He's no Hopkins as far as defense is concerned. Some free education, if it's too much of a struggle to read.
I really don't see why he wouldn't go 12. He's a different type of fighter. He doesn't need to ko killa kov to win. He brings other variables and intangibles to the table. Can he lose? Of course. But he can also outbox, frustrate and win on points if he's on. This is why this potential fight is pivotal to make. Once Kovalev is done with his September fight, I wouldn't mind discussions starting for a clash against ward
Similar to how Floyd made the first Maidana fight "more entertaining" on purpose?
floyd left kenny bayless at home for the first fight. big mistake. always bring kenny bayless with you for protection. 2nd amendment! right to bear kenny bayless
Right. Just like Golovkin lets people punch him in the face on purpose.
I'll be looking for you to bet with about how long the fight lasts once it's signed, King. Also BarstoolChamp and a few others.

yup daggum knows everything about his favorite fighters at 168, joe calzaghe, sven ottke, and andre ward!
daggum is an equal opportunity hater.
Race and nationality has nothing to do with it.
better question is would kovalev last 12 with ward. ward ko'd dawson and paul smith. you all saw that power. smith crumpled under the weight of ward's punches.
This man speaks the truth.
Bet the house on Ward by stoppage by the 8th.
