MARTIN MURRAY insists it is not "Mission Impossible" as he bids to become the first man to dethrone the biggest hitter in the world today, Gennady Golovkin.
St Helens scrapper Murray will challenge the fearsome Kazakh for his WBA super world middleweight title in Monte Carlo on February 21.
Unbeaten Golovkin has knocked out 28 of his 31 victims, including the last dozen fighters who have tried in vain to take his belt.

In the photos from London, Murray did not look to have much, if any, of a size advantage. "Tough" won't be enough and I don't think Murray has the boxing ability or power to keep Golovkin off him for more than 6-8 rounds.
I'm not putting any money on Murray, I'm just stating the facts that are overlooked.
What makes you think that people overlook Golovkins flaws? Stylistically he's an aggressive counterpuncher. He hits you in the knowedge that you have to try and hit him back and, if you do so, may leave a real opening...if you don't he wins the rounds, if you do he knocks you out. It's a bold strategy, but one that almost always gives you the win if you're good enough.
Why do you think he has bad defense and he is flatfooted? He just have different style than western fighters. You do not get 350 wins at amateur level without GREAT defense, and he certainly has GREAT footwork. He just happens to have GREAT economy during fight, so he reduced unnecessary movement to a minimum. That helps him fighting on the same level all 12 rounds. And he adjusts to his opponent. Stevens have great power, so he was much more cautious with than say Gaele. So Gaele placed much better punch but there was no power, and GGG easily KOed him.
Have to agree, he rations movement and with his footwork he is always perfectly centred so he can get off 100% power punches at any time, thats why every punch he throws has intentions. Footwork is terrific. I have no doubt Golovkin could have trained to box differently upon entering the pro grame, but he wants to entertain and he wants knockouts for the fans.
Also anyone who can't see the difference in level and skill between Golovkin and "block punches with my face" Provodnikov needs to start watching more boxing.
Because he's open to counter punches, he's a tough strong fighter and has no fear but that could be his downfall. His defense really isn't good and he's flat footed. GGG's biggest strengths are his punching power and his confidence, get a fighter that toughs it out and can box, he could get found out in the later rounds and then he becomes another Ruslan.

Golovkin definately has more power than Sergio no doubt, but its Golovkin whose nowhere near Sergios level...check his highlight reel youll see an Ace dispatching quality and proven opponents, Golovkins best win is noqhere near Maravillas top 10 notable wins..but unfortunately his best days have come and gone.
Can you list these top 10 notable wins? Wasnt p4p Martinez making hard work of Macklin, Murray, Barker?
:lol1: :lol1: Murray beat Sergia, but Sergio is nowhere near Golovkin's level. Triple G is going to make this guy look like nothing.

Alright but you never gonna get better odds on an even fight. Put down 1k and even odds you end up with a brand new car. Seems hard to pass up
True, I'll think about it.
Murray talking that ish. :lol1:
I like him as a fighter but it would be an upset without question, Golovkin is a monster. This would be a great win for Golovkin by the way, people underrate Murray he is a quality opponent, I expect GGG to stop him, but I wouldn't be surprised if Murray makes it a war.

Youd think a guy like that gets shut out by the likes of Dirrell, especially with headgear over 3 rounds. Ruslan lol. So how much money you putting on Murray?

When you put aside the hype, the truth is Murray has fought at a much higher level. He was robbed in Germany against a long reigning champion and he went to Argentina and beat the undisputed champion but was fighting against the ref, the judges, the crowd and Martinez. That was a disgrace. GGG has never fought at that level.
I really hope Murray pulls this off, he deserves it. GGG is not as good as people think, he's open for counters and does not fair well against pure boxers.
I wouldn't see it as an upset either, this is an even fight.
What makes you think he doesn't fare well vs pure boxers? Is Murray one of these? The odds will be ridiculous for an "even fight", make sure you capitalize
