Gennady Golovkin has already proven to be the most devastating puncher in boxing. He has the cardio, speed, unreal power, and an iron jaw. We haven't seen a guy with this kind of power since "Iron" Mike Tyson.
I guarantee, that Gennady "GGG" Golovkin will go down as one of the top 10 or even top 5 fighters of all time.
He has that kind of potential. He is unreal.
He is the best fighter since Joe Calzaghe.
I stopped taking you seriously after this
Remember Gvozdyk?
Same thing will happen to Bivol and I am a Bivol fan.
Bivol is better than Gvozdyk, he's a smarter fighter and technically better but I think Gvozdyk might have more power. Gvozdyk's mistake was trying to plant his feet and throw shots when he should have been constantly on his bike and using his size and reach advantage (easier said than done I know) but Bivol interestingly noted this down - he is very analytical so I could see him outboxing Beterbiev. This would be a 50-50 fight imo and it would depend on how well Beterbiev adapts to Bivol's style and whether Bivol can sustain fighting while retreating given the pressure he will be under.
He will always have a mark on his resume due to peds, regardless of any fantasy run he goes through.
The guy couldn't legit beat GGG in 2 fights and has waited for the guy to be well passed his best for a 3rd fight
He can defo beat Bivol but Bivol can also beat him. Bivol is the better boxer and stylistically would cause lots of problems for Beterbiev just because he is always moving, however I'm not convinced Bivol can avoid the power for 12 rounds though
To start Joe Smith was not given praise by the media years ago he was a construction worker, nobody knew about him.
Got onto the scene with his upset win over Fanfara.
But just when many counted him out he came back and took it the hard way, He came back and beat Jesse Hart. Remember this is the guy who many thought beat Gilberto Ramirez, the guy everyone on here accused Bivol of ducking.
Then a spectacular win over Elder Alvarez, whose fists had Kovalev shook. Smith walked through everything Alvarez through and beat him down.
Finally a win over Vlasov with controversy but still, he dared to be great by next choosing to fight Beterbiev.
Joe Smith is a great fighter who did more than he was supposed to. He just lost to the best light heavyweight in the world.
Meh - he has had a decent run and was brave in trying to stand and exchange with Beterbiev. HOWEVER I disagree that he is a great fighter. Tough/durable and heavy handed yes but technically limited and not smart which is evidenced by his game plan against Beterbiev
What makes you think Canelo has a chance against Bivol? I doubt he even takes the rematch. Canelo has always been flat-footed and fighting someone with a significant height and reach and crucially someone who is a better boxer than him.
Styles make fights
Canelo has trouble with boxers. Not face first brawlers.
Beterbiev is a knockout waiting to happen
Canelo struggled with a pressure fighter in GGG, Beterbiev is a bigger much more physical version of GGG with a lot more power as well...
So sick of these Ukrainian athelets/Politicians/Celebrities attacking all Russians as if they are directly involved in the war. The Klitchkos lost all my respect when they targeted Bivol, the poor guy said he hates that a war is happening and people are suffering but they still want to take his ability to support his family.
This is no different than targeting Russian civilians who just want to get on with their lives
1) No one but bitter NSBer STILL mention the clen. Everyone else has moved on.
2) GGG asked for that Mexican business and got it. Pale AF Nelo didn't have a mark on his face (aside from a scratch on his eyelid)
GGG looked as if he was auditioning for the lead role in Hunchback Of Notre Dame.
3) No matter what, GGG will ALWAYS be 10 years older. Haters holdIng a grudge against Nelo for not being born in the same year as GGG, smdh
Maybe the sport should restrict GGG from fighting guys younger than him ???
Remind me, how old is Kamil :lol1: ?!?!?
You mean the Canelo fanboys moved on right? He is a drugs cheat, no matter what he does in the ring moving forward he will always be questioned for this cheating.
he couldn't beat GGG in either of the 2 previous fights, had a tantrum and stated he would never fight GGG again as he didn't want him to get paid. You fanboys were eating it up and conveniently forgot about his stance.
Ward was a good fighter but he had some injury problems and against Kovalev he looked a little fragile at times. I can't blame him for retiring, Beterbiev and Bivol were not big names at that point (though people who watched them could see their talent).
Ward was clever though, he could see that he was declining a little as a fighter and from the looks of things he was aware of the fighters coming up behind him (in particular he was aware of Bivol and has often given him high praise over the years). No shame in quitting while he is ahead, he has success in the ring, money and he didn't take any serious beatings that could effect him later on in life. A great way to go out imo. Let the poor guy rest and enjoy retirement
You haters are typical.
Your heroes let you down on a consistent basis which leaves you no alternative than to become haters :lol1:
No one cares about clen except you haters.
Even when it was hot off the press, it was no big deal
Your hero wasted his prime years fighting guys not worthy of a journeyman tag.
GGG needs Nelo to salvage a wasted career
Nelo NEVER needed the GGGeezer.
WheN GGG was wearing head gear and racking up all of the practice ''fights'', Young Nelo was fighting for real :boxing:
DEAL WITH IT
I'm a hater for calling out a confirmed drugs cheat? OK buddy
Nope, I think he was intimidated before the fight. Didn't seem to have any strategy except try and brawl and hope he caught him. Very dumb to try and brawl with Bivol
You're a hater because that one small incident defines how you view him.
Seriously, look around. WTF is mentioning clen besides you haters ?
I even think GGG moved on :lol1:
What would GGG be without Nelo in his life
He'd be a lot poorer, that's for sure
Cheating in a sport that can result in someone getting seriously hurt or dying is a small incident? Lol ok kid
GGG didn't pressure him tho. He stayed behind a jab the whole first fight. Golovkin played boxer fight 1.
GGG got a better chin than Beterbiev. He never been down. Arthur has
GGG did pressure him in the first fight, what were you watching? Canelo was on the backfoot for the majority of the fight. Beterbiev hardly has a brittle chin, he got dropped by Johnson who is a massive puncher but recovered almost instantly, since then he has fought other big punchers and hasn't looked hurt once
Outside of power, Joe Smith does not really give any of the past great top Light Heavyweights much trouble.
Smith is slow of foot, and has slow hand speed. Combined with not much technical creativity.
Beiterbiev did what he was supposed to do.
While I agree with your assessment of Smith I do think you're underselling just how impressive Beterbiev was here. He fought in his opponents home town, against a guy who has never been knocked down despite fighting big punchers in the division. Say what you will about Smiths Jr boxing ability but he is a physically tough, durable guy who also happens to hit pretty hard himself.
Beterbiev was the favourite but I don't think anyone thought he would steamroll Smith Jr like that. For context Bivol went the full 12 rounds against Smith Jr and even got hurt pretty badly by him
Really want Bivol vs Beterbiev next, not sure who would win that. Bivol is clearly the better boxer but Beterbiev is such a beast and the much more physically imposing
To those saying he's an idiot, why should he take the fight?
He is already extremely rich and doesn't need the money and from what I understand he isn't a flashy guy who well waste it in a few years like Mayweather is.
Why should he take a fight in which he would get embarrassed? I can't say I blame him, if he doesn't need the money there isn't any incentive to boxing Mayweather
Not everything is about money, and I can see him turning down that offer. He is wealthy already and connected to the top people in his country. He already has generational wealthy.
Exactly, the man made a lot of money fighting in the UFC but he also has many powerful men also backing him in Russia. He has money but he seems content to live on a farm and work on his fathers MMA schools
Probably Calzaghe, dont think either would stop the other but Calzaghe is bigger, has a reach advantage and in his prime had faster hands and a much higher punch output, he would outwork Canelo.
