To start Joe Smith was not given praise by the media years ago he was a construction worker, nobody knew about him.
Got onto the scene with his upset win over Fanfara.
But just when many counted him out he came back and took it the hard way, He came back and beat Jesse Hart. Remember this is the guy who many thought beat Gilberto Ramirez, the guy everyone on here accused Bivol of ducking.
Then a spectacular win over Elder Alvarez, whose fists had Kovalev shook. Smith walked through everything Alvarez through and beat him down.
Finally a win over Vlasov with controversy but still, he dared to be great by next choosing to fight Beterbiev.
Joe Smith is a great fighter who did more than he was supposed to. He just lost to the best light heavyweight in the world.
I dispute that GGG was a boogeyman when Alvarez fought him. He was a boogeyman when Kell Brook fought him. Brook proved GGG was average. Which anyone who truly knew boxing knew would happen when GGG fought someone with a pulse. If he had fought Canelo then he would have been a massive massive favorite. After the Jacobs fight he was a small favorite although most who knew boxing said that GGG was food for Canelo.
Of course you dispute an undefeated KO artist in Golovkin is a boogyman...because calling him a boogyman would make Crawford look foolish, he doesn't have any boogyman on his resume.
You got to keep Alvarez down in order to keep Crawford up, as per your modus operandi.
Sooooo you don't dispute that Crawford hasn't fought any boogeymen, EXCELLENT!!!!
Everything else you wrote is just a distraction from Crawford & noise to hate on Alvarez (who fought Golovkin, a knockout artist boogeyman)...as per your modus operandi.

Yeah, "moved up" even though he was fighting as a middleweight for years before that, sorry 155lbs is middleweight. And fought him after coming up with excuses to avoid him for years, even vacating his belt, and then only fighting GGG once he looked human against a welterweight and Danny Jacobs, who manly felt he lost to, and after his fans all started turning on him for being such a duck and supporting Golovkin instead. And even then he supposably felt the need to use clenbuterol, i.e. cheat to fight golovkin.
But let's have this chat when Terence creates his own 150lbs division and says he's too small to fight at 154. Or creates a 145lb division and says he can't fight Spence

Yeah, all true.
Its just pathetic, I make a thread praising a genuinely good man who never gets any attention or respect, and the usual suspects show up and get jealous that their billionaire celebrity diva hero doesn't get enough praise. Even though there are 1,000 threads on here per day ass kissing canelo and not 1 for Joe smith. Just the most childish behavior I've ever seen. Canelo can get billions of dollars, fans, golf, cars, mansions, threads, but Joe Smith isn't allowed one single thread of respect.
He goes back to his construction job today while Canelo is playing golf with some Hollywood celebrity at a club that wouldtn let any of us in.
But let's defend the celebrity and not the construction worker.
People are awful.
I agree, he never said what he weighed against Bivol, but I'd bet that it was more than the 183lbs Bivol weighed. I just meant that Bivol was a bigger challenge than his 168lb European caucasian tour.

Yes. Canelo fighting GGG 2x, Jacobs, Bivol, Lara, Mayweather, Trout wasn’t him “daring to be great”. It was him cherrypicking. We get it, Terence Crawford fan. Joe Smith Jr facing Bivol and Beterbiev is way bigger of a “dare” than what Canelo has done. We get it.
lol.................
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah....smoke & mirrors. Let me help you find your tongue, the answer is Crawford hasn't faced any "boogeymen"...EVER!
Alvarez moved up and fought Golovkin, a career undefeated middleweight that was knocking out everyone.

He is calling them ALL out. Spence, Jermell Charlo, Jermall Charlo.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah....smoke & mirrors. Let me help you find your tongue, the answer is Crawford hasn't faced any "boogeymen"...EVER!
Canelo ducked both Charlos like the plague, both who are smaller than him.
Alvarez moved up and fought Golovkin, a career undefeated middleweight that was knocking out everyone.
If he such a boogeyman, why did 18 guys step up to fight him? Again this is your opinion, other may beg to differ.
When has Crawford?

Let's be real, if Canelo and Spence were the same size would Canelo take that fight? Of course not.
Not me, it's a FACT that Beterbiev is the boogeyman at 175, not Bivol. Only a fool disagrees with that.

When has Canelo ever held a belt and unified with boogeymen in his own division?
When has Crawford?
There is nothing dramatically courageous about starting off at a lower weight, because you want to be the big man on fight night.
Alvarez was out weighing his opponents by 10 to sometimes 20 pounds on fight night, for 80% of his career.
I know you are not bigging up Alvarez. I am just pointing out that, the day before weigh in rule 'Creates a bit of a illusion'.
I agree, he never said what he weighed against Bivol, but I'd bet that it was more than the 183lbs Bivol weighed. I just meant that Bivol was a bigger challenge than his 168lb European caucasian tour.
This was a joe Smith appreciation thread and the fanboys came in and made it a canelo thread.
Lmaoooo. Bivol the best fighter ever now
So typical right? I was giving respect to a man who never gets any and in typical canelo narcissistic fashion they couldnt stand the fact that another fighter got praise for taking a big risk. Only Canelo is allowed to get credit for taking risk.
Just because you think someone is a boogyman, doesn't mean other fans (or fighters) perceive that fighter the same way.
So you're not giving me a opinion of fact, you are giving me an opinion of your opinion.
Joe Smith did what he was suppose to do, he wasn't daring to be great....he should want to unify in the division he fights in.
Not me, it's a FACT that Beterbiev is the boogeyman at 175, not Bivol. Only a fool disagrees with that.
When has Canelo ever held a belt and unified with boogeymen in his own division? You tell me. Avoided Andrade and Charlo at 154 and 160.
You should hold canelo to the same standard and should have insisted that he fought Andrade and Charlo at 154 and 160.
You are a LIAR! U got short term memory loss...Dumb fuk post where I said Bivol was a easy win???
u the stupid junkie casual fan who said that sht
I never mentioned Bivol dumbazz
If Saul Alvarez started at 140, then Terence Crawford started at 122. That's what they weighed when they were 15. Nothing special about beating pros w an 0-30 record at 140 and 147. You don't think any other top boxer today could have won a pro fight against bums at 15? He was a kid. You don't "start" at the weight you are when your 15, he first became an adult fighting contends at 154, not 140.
Nobody says that Joe Smith is more talented than Canelo. Daring to be great is taking on a risk that you don't have to take.
Canelo took what was in his mind the easy way. Pillow fisted Bivol who could barely beat Craig Richards looked like a much safer bet than fighting Beterbiev, Charlo, Benavidez. The +500 odds proved this. Joe Smith on the other hand stepped in there with the most dangerous option, a guy that nobody really gave him much of a chance to beat. See the difference?

Smith did not come to lay down despite getting repeatedly knocked down. Felt bad seeing his head getting clubbed around viciously but this is the hurt game. Hope he is recovering well.
Interesting take. I agree he didn't come to lay down....but he certainly chose to after that first round. He didn't change strategy at all...he just came out in the second to take a couple on the chin and go home. Decent career for the skill level he's at...but in this fight he quit in a death by cop scenario.
