Gennady Golovkin has already proven to be the most devastating puncher in boxing. He has the cardio, speed, unreal power, and an iron jaw. We haven't seen a guy with this kind of power since "Iron" Mike Tyson.
I guarantee, that Gennady "GGG" Golovkin will go down as one of the top 10 or even top 5 fighters of all time.
He has that kind of potential. He is unreal.
He is the best fighter since Joe Calzaghe.
I like GGG but come on people as of right now he is no where near ATG status not even close( I consider ATG top 10-15 boxers in the last 100 years). He has awesome power and now he's getting pushed by HBO so he should start getting some big fights. but as of right now his resume is paper thin you can't realistically say he's in the top 10 since 2000. Another thing going against him is his age He's 31 and spent a good chunk of his prime fighting Journeyman fighters ( D grade at best ) that's not impressive.
GGG is exciting but it'll be interesting to see what happens when he faces elite competition he has potential but it's to early to hand the crown to him yet.
And for people claiming Calzaghe is a ATG that's a joke straight up he fought almost his whole career in the UK and mostly fought nobodies. What's his 5 best wins ? ( he didn't beat Hopkins and Jones was a shell of his former self ) what's left Kessler , Manfredo, Bika yeah that's a resume of one of the best who ever put on a pair of gloves. I get that he's popular but I view him as a Chris John type of fighter , won a belt stayed at home and beat people he was supposed to beat just a over rated champion ( I bet if you went to Indonesia Johns the #1 ATG I mean he beat Marquez and a boat load South East Asian rice farmers & Scrap metal pickers). That's ATG status right there.
same here i had B Hop winning that fight 8-4 watched it 4 times and came to the same score

I stopped taking you seriously after this
3 years later..still has fought no one.
Go away Jamal
It's okay that GGG is getting recognition from actually knocking his opponents out instead of going 12 running/holding.

highly doubtful giving his advanced age and the talent pool in his era...knocking out decent competition isnt enough to get to ATG status
He has the talent and passes the eye test but Many fighters do when they dont face world class or elite opposition on the regular...His best win is Lemieux and before and after that fight, he fought 2 unranked guys
He fights a good fighter every once in a while and that doesnt cut it legacy wise
Also middleweight is a deep division...there are fighters people on this site never heard of who have a resume and talent higher than GGG....Lloyd Marshall, Eddie Booker, Charley Burley, Holman Williams, Bert Lytell, Jack Chase....none of them won world champions but beat champions and hall of famers...a few of them are not even in the IBHOF which is a travesty
Sadly the era he is in doesnt have the talent for him to reach top ten status at 160 and talent wise he isnt top ten IMO
No, you gave GGG e-head through the computer. I heard NSB has a built in virus that turns a poster red when they attempt felonious cocksucking over the internet.
This post is ridiculous.

Dude, stop hyping these guys up. I've never heard of any of them, so that means that can't be that good. GGG would have easily destroyed these guys, and Monzon too, who was just a lanky doofus with no real skill.
Proksa had more skill than these black and white guys and will become known as a better fighter over time. Athletes today are stronger, better, faster, better, and just gooder.
And just gooder......Lmao, I love it Benny!! :lol1:
I cracked up at: "I've never heard of any of them, so that means that can't be that good."

You should be dripping blood then

I haven't even read the replies to this thread because I have faith that there are enough people here with boxing knowledge to know that what you have said is impossible....top 5 is moronic LOL I get it, you're a fan but come on, relax. He won't even go down as the best middleweight post-Hopkins, that honour goes to Martinez.
GGG has great power and good skills, I like the guy but the only worthy middleweight he has on his resume Mathew Macklin...and he's 30. He needs to step up his opposition ASAP but no, he is fighting Curtis Stevenson...a guy who is as useful in a boxing ring as a **** on a gay man.
Let's say he even manages big fights in the next 2-3 years, against Martinez, maybe Barker/Quillin, unifies titles etc....other than Martinez, no name on that list is HOF or even close. What will he do then? Go up to 168? At almost 35 years of age? Not everyone is a Hopkins or Floyd Mayweather, especially with GGG's style. There is no way he even reaches a top 100 unless he KOs Martinez, Barker, Quillin, Ward, Froch, Kovalev, Hopkins and Wlad in back to back fights.
Let us all stop dreaming, take a deep breath and recognise GGG for what he is, a good fighter with great power being marketed as a world beater by HBO who will be out boxed and beaten by either of Martinez or Ward by the end of 2014/15.
Emille Griffith was an ATG and a true welterweight and middleweight champion witha very very deep resume, Jose Napoles (Cuban) was another ATG, Nino Benvenuti was the lineal middleweight champion when Monzon stopped him, Rodrigo Valdez (colombian) was a middleweight champion and one of the 50 hardest punchers of all time, Bennie Briscoe was a tough contender with a legendary chin and extremely deep resume, who many years later (though very old) went the distance with Hagler and gave him a pretty decent fight; Tom Bogs, Bouttier, Moyer, LiCata, etc. were solid top contenders.

People won't recognize him until he fights a name.
He can't fight a name until one steps up
One won't step up until he fights a name.
One will step up when HBO put the money up.
Why the **** am I in the red?
Im a serious poster. I am making an educated prediction as to where GGG will go down in history.

Bunch of cab driving Argentinos, plus the token black man and a gay boy. His résumé is like a bad movie.

Maybe you shouldn't have received any red, but you have not made an educated prediction. If GGG crushes Stevens and then, next year unifies the middleweight division by taking out Quillin, Martinez, Barker and Sturm. Then you can start making noise of GGG and where does he rank all-time.
And even then the talk of ATG status would be silly.
But now? Way too early.
