let me give u some history.
He was the ONLY Great Britain Olympian to enter the Athens 2005 Olympics at age 17. He won a silver medal. He's a Muslim that represents his home country of Pakistan and England. This achievement alone was huge.
He had significant backing with top promoter Frank Warren where his fights were shown or terrestrial TV to MILLIONS (No exaggeration). His performances talk too, he is incredibly exciting and always showed that on TV. He isn't just a boxer, he's a celebrity due to this.
From an achievement perspective, well obviously first came the brutal KO where everybody thought he'd never do anything in boxing and hide away - that didn't happen. Instead he faced the music and went out to become a world champion at 140. He had made his reputation, then he left for America where he had top backing with GBP. You know who he fought since then.
Anyway, what you need to understand is his backing was extremely and still is very strong because of his nationality, religion and so on. I barely touched the surface with this. There is A lot more but w/e.

OK potna. 1st off I don't think you read my post throughly at ALL. Styles make fights(henceforth the reason why triangle theories never work in Boxing). If Timmy was to beat Devon, and Amir was to beat Timmy, it doesn't mean that Amir would beat Devon. So now that we have that established lets move on to the point of the matter that has me in disagreement with Amir's "I'm not going to fight everybody at 140" statement.
At this stage in Amir's career it is (IMHO) not acceptable for a un-established(which we ALL should be able to agree on) YOUNG champion in a division LOADED with viable contenders and fellow YOUNG Champions to virtually say "I'm NOT going to CLEAN OUT the division" and essentially play match-maker with other MORE established Champions, ie. If I fight Maidana(His Manditory, as Kahn does hold a strap), then they(Tim and Devon) NEED to fight, as if it's an ultimatum. This is just plain as$ WRONG potna.
If Pac was an up and coming young Champion, then yes he should fight Shane even though Shane just lost(Besides using Pac is a very BAD example.........Zahir Raheem, if you know your Boxing then you'll know what I'm talking about). Why because when you are a YOUNG champ (I think) should be focused on lineage as well as money. Once you've established your self as a force THEN I have no problem with you disregarding Lineage(ie.
