I believe Khan is religious, however I do believe it's part of a PR campaign. Khan's biggest fan base are Muslim's, he has to sell himself as a good Muslim. He's a decent lad. If Khan fought during Ramadam it would upset a lot of his core fan base. Ramadan is a fast during the hours while the sun is up. Most devout Muslims wake up before the sun rises to eat, they then brake the fast when the sun sets usually with prunes and a glass of milk, traditional prayers included of course. Most Muslims continue working through the fast and abstain from food, sex and generally bad habits like smoking. So Khan could train while recognizing the fast, especially because most boxers generally don't eat during training hours anyway. If not, Khan could train at night which would be perfectly acceptable. The fight also occurs at night so I call bullschit on the whole Ramadan excuse.

I won't pretend to know about Ramadam, I know it's a fast. There's a friendly guy in my local Domino pizza. I've spoken with him during his fast. He enjoys taking part but it knocks the stuffing out the fella. It can't be easy starving & being surrounded by food all day. His energy levels drop though & he's admitted that's he's felt the effects. If Ramadam can effect a guy working in a pizza shop then the effects on a Pro boxer would be far more noticable. Khan's performance & training would suffer. He would need to feed his body immmediately after workouts & wouldn't be able to if he was fasting. This is not true of every person, I used to fast and it did not have any ill affects on me. And like I said most boxers don't eat during training and they usually wake up to run before the sun comes up so he would do fine it would be just like another training camp. Its the same thing most boxers do to make weight.

Im not going to get in to a long drawn out convo here, because these forums get seriously dumb when Pac is the feature. I had Pac winning the first fight by a land slide, had Pac winning the second fight by a closer margin, I had this fight scored 114-112 Bradley. I don't score a round for a fighter who only fights for 30 seconds at the end of the round. Pac looked sloppy, most of his combos were purse swinging punches. This is the worst I have ever seen Pac, and I think this should be his last fight. Pac got credit for a lot of punches that were not landing, and he was clearly given rounds based on perception rather than what was actually happening in the ring.

Exciting when fighting others but it becomes quite clear they are not going to hit Floyd after a couple rounds and then the party starts to fall asleep. So a guy like Khan has a different style. Nah, Austin Trout beating Cotto was the easiest *****. Not true. When Showtime replayed the fight, they featured it with an epilogue, they showed Trout exiting his hotel room after the fight, he's visibly hurting and walking tenderly. Didn't see the interview, but from the quotes it would seem like Hearn's demeanor has changed. He didn't attack or disrespect anyone. Looks to me like the big boys behind the scenes are pushing and this fight is a lot closer than we all think. It's also telling that Hearn didn't try to spin why he hasn't excepted the $50 million, nor did he blame team Wilder. He blatantly admitted that he hasn't excepted the offer until details are ironed out because he doesn't want to look bad if he suddenly pulled out of negotiations if they weren't in his favor. It feels like the last week of the May Pac negotiations. I think this fight gets done/announced soon.

My bad. I should have added in terms of heavyweight boxing since Tyson/Lewis 20-25 years ago. Either way it's still a pretty big deal when you consider it's Joshua's US debut. OK that makes more sense. Just a few things though. It is definitely an accomplishment to sell all those tickets at pre-sale, but lets be realistic about a few things. The amount of tickets was far higher than any boxing event at MSG has ever released. Many of the tickets were purchased by third party sellers. So yes give credit, but lets also keep things in perspective. The fight has also not been reported as sold out. It's probably going to sell out though.

I'd have to fundamentally disagree with this assessment. Coldewell didn't actually detail any improvement that Fury can actually make, other than being more confident. Yes confidence plays a major role in competitive sports, especially combat sports, but Fury fought damn near the perfect fight and he still didn't do enough to win. Unfortunate but true, is the fact that Wilder fought a horrible fight, had a horrible game plan, came in lighter then ever, and did just enough to eek out a draw. I'm sorry but the reality is that the improvements in the next fight favor Wilder. And if we're talking confidence, lets not forget Wilder now knows Fury can't take his power. To be honest, I think the second fight will be easier for Wilder. That's based on the previous fight, and what I detailed above. The only thing that Fury can do different in the next fight, is come in lighter, but would that really be to his benefit? The lighter Fury is, the harder he'll find it to keep Wilder off of him. Sure he may be able to move a little better, but at that point, he'd lose the fight just from Wilder simply out working him.

They didn't even say the offer wasn't exactly what they wanted, they just said AJ owed it to his fans.

Negotiating is a lot easier in person and would have expedited the process enormously. Refusing to meet face-to-face is just bad practice. The majority of boxing fights are negotiated from afar. Meeting are usually only to discuss interest. After that, everything is done over phone and emails. Either way yours is a moot point, because as I said in my other response to you, Wilders team met with Barry Hearn. Can't expedite a process when one party didn't actually want the fight this year anyway.

I largely agree. I think Hearn and AJ didn't want the fight right away. If we're being charitable it's probably because: a) The Wilder fight can be worth a lot more money in time b) AJ can afford to fight weaker opposition for another fight or two and get the same money whilst the Wilder fight builds but, I tend to agree with you generally. But, as I've said, I still don't think that meeting Barry Hearn is a worthwhile reason to cancel a meeting which was requested by the guy who's actually making the deal himself (Eddie Hearn). If Hearn requests a meeting, he clearly has something to tell you that's worth hearing or new, you can't say "well we met your dad two weeks ago, so no, we don't want to hear what you have to say" So my point is, Hearn and AJ bad... He's the father of Joshua's promoter. You can hardly say that turning down a meeting with the promoter himself (who has legal power to act on his fighter's behalf and make legally binding representations) is worth it because they talked to his dad... Secondly, yes, the majority of deals take place over distance because in the vast majority of cases it's not possible or convenient to meet in person (that's just life). But if the other side to a deal are in town and they specifically offer to meet you in person to thrash out the terms of a deal and you turn them down, it seems like you're less than ecstatic about actually seeing that deal made. So, like I said, my view is that Joshua and Hearn are largely to blame for the fight being put off. But Wilder's side (and their fans) are full of it when they say they were absolutely desperate for the fight and did absolutely everything they could to make it. Barry Hearn met with Finkle on behalf of Eddie Hearn. So that being the case, yes they were representing AJ. The first time Hearn met with Wilders team, Hearn said it was to discuss a fight against AJ however, Hearn never offered AJ and tried to get Wilder to fight Whyte, which he continues to do today. Don't misunderstand my stance, I don't care who acted like what, what I care is there was a legit deal on the table that was asked for, negotiated for 22 days, 70% chance of signing, then turned down, with a lame excuse. AJ/Hearn didn't want the fight right now it is what it is. It's what Barry Hearn advised AJ to do, it's what they ultimately decided to do. Only one side didn't want the fight right now, it's a simple thing to see.

Thought GGG clearly won the first fight. I thought this fight was a lot closer to a draw, but thought GGG pulled it off. The thing about this fight and most of the comments is that people forget you can only score one round at a time. You're not supposed to score the next round based on what you've seen in the last round or rounds, and there seems to be a lot of that going on with these assessments. First, was GGG really being driven back the entire fight? Most of the time he was stepping left turning Canelo around and for the most part he was close enough to hit and be hit, where as in The first fight Canelo was back peddling from one side of the ring to the other, constantly with his back to the ropes, but some how GGG doesn't get credit for pushing Canelo back. As far as people saying Canelo was aggressive, or the aggressor, for most of the fight he was standing nearly right in the center of the ring. I don't see how its possible for anyone to say GGG was being pushed back by Canelos aggression when Canelo hardly moved and I can't remember a single time GGG's back touched the ropes. I thought a lot of the rounds were really close, and I thought the rounds GGG won were far more clearer and easier to score than the rounds Canelo won. The reality is GGG would have won if two judges would have not given Canelo all the close rounds. Give Canelo major credit, his defense was exceptional for large portions of the fight, though not good enough to justify the win. The way he rolled with GGG'S punches took some steam off of them, although the few times GGG landed clean, you could see Canelo was hurting. Like wise, GGG was not responding well to Canelos body shots, though he was walking through them head shots like they were nothing. All in all, disappointed with the decision, but not the fight. It was a great fight that will go down as a classic, and made the first fight seem nonexistent. Both fan bases should be proud. I felt this way since before the first fight, and this fight reinforced my belief, Jacob's defeats Canelo convincingly and quite possibly gets a stoppage. I also think Charlo can defeat Canelo, but I think that's is a winnable fight for Canelo, but I can't see him defeating Jacob's. Either case I think we get Canelo/Lemieux next. Which is always dangerous because I believe Lemieux is at least the 3 hardest puncher in boxing, but Canelo should win that fight easily, which hopefully catapults him into a Jacob's fight. Wilder is currently one of the most popular U.S. fighters, facts. Sold out Barclays which is extremely hard for boxers to do (Cotto couldn't even sell out Barclays). The fight Prior to that, Barclays closed the mezzanine and upper bowl to cut the arena down to just over 9k seats, they had to open up seats because they underestimated the demand. That fight sold over 10k tickets, which is technically a sell out due to the seating arrangement. The same thing happened With Wilders first fight at Barclays, Upper bowl and mezzanine were closed to create a seating arrangement of over 9k. The demand was so high that Barclays had to open the entire upper bowl to accommodate, which resulted in over 12k tickets sold. I don't think I need to explain to you how unusual and rare it is for a venue to change seating leading up to a live event. Anyway, the fact that AJ is more popular than Wilder has already been conceded, then why is it constantly brought up by AJ fans, over and over? Well it's for the same reason they choose to ignore Wilders popularity in the U.S., it's the only argument they have to justify the fight not happening, with out pinning blame on AJ.
