No one ever achieved greatness by playing it safe.
True Story. Wow, powerful quote.
There is no reality to this poll. These are the views of younger people who werent watching Roy Jones destroy Montell Griffin in the rematch or watching Floyd dismantle Corrales at 135. Im not saying its wrong, but I dont think these forums reflect the view of everybody.PAC destroying an ATG in MAB trumps those two fights you mentioned.
Man, you can even add the beating PAC gave to De La Joto, since the entire boxing world had no idea it was gonna turnout like that. Yes, it was clearly evident that De La Joto was past it. But every boxing expert and casual fan had no idea that a huge underdog was gonna put on a "how to kick @ss clinic" on the heavy favorite.
We all knew PBF was gonna kick that @ss. I didn't expect RJJ to end it so quick against Griffin, but, I knew RJJ was gonna do it right the second time around.
As a PBF fan, I'm not embarrass to admit that Pac has proven me wrong on many occasions.
As someone had already pointed out, clinching is a highly subjective part of the game. I recently created a thread about Devon Alexander's clinching, some felt it wasn't excessive and others, like myself, felt it was excessive.
This is I want to see from the refs, if you had to pull the fighters apart two straight times during a round(and both times it was fighter A who initiated it) and commits a third in that same round then that should be an automatic point deduction from thereafter.
And, the process starts all over again for each round. Because the hit n' hold tactic simply bores the sh*t out of most viewers, man. It's simply an eyesore, especially for the casual boxing fan.
the TS's idea has been thrown around as far as dealing w/ PBF. However, that type of gameplan needs a specific type of fighter to carry it out, and his name ain't Kneeguel Cotto.
My whole thing about boxing, it ain't the style it's the fighter. I know, I know, styles make fights, there's some truth to that, but, it's not the ultimate truth.
I can see PBF getting his &ss kicked and it's not necessarily by a particular style. The number 1 thing in order to change that 0 to 1 is that the opponent has to have comparable athletic ability or pretty d*mn close to it(he hasn't faced that fighter and the fact that he has been cherry pickin' for years now..).
And have the discipline to stick to a gameplan, doesn't matter if it's swarming him or outboxing him, the physical tools and knowing how to utilize them to the fullest is what's really important.
What Gino is suggesting is basically a similar strategy that MAB executed on NAZ.
The only fighter I can think of that can pull that off that's around PBF's size is Maravilla.
Why can't Khan do that?Khan has some of the components that could pull off that kind of gameplan. But, I think Maravilla is already doing it. And at the moment I think Maravilla's jab is better than Khan's and a southpaw too.
At the moment, I think Maravilla is the better man for that type of strategy.
The mainstream knows that Manny is on , um, "vitamins".
Great. Thanks for making the sport dirty, Manny.Do you think Dumbquiao's side will use this vid to show how PBF's party's baseless accusations has influenced the mainstream ? I mean, how much of an impact if any will this have in court.
marquez gets his biggest pay day !!! too bad manny will retire him pemanantlyHey, that's not a bad retirement check.
I have heard this song and dance before, lets see what the contract actually says~Exactly, we'll wait and see when the reports say it was only 6 million, lmao
lol. Ok, so the only boxing is on HBO? Why don't you start watching boxing on tv and not from your sh1tty streams. I've had both channels for as long as I can remember. So do I. But, HBO has more subscribers compared to Showtime. What some deem as advantage due to the the fact that CBS owns Showtime, but, so what, how many actually have Showtime compared to HBO ?
When people think boxing, they think HBO. How many people are even aware that Showtime actually has boxing shows, lol
Looks like TS can't afford it...
I'm not buying this fight either, i'll watch over to a neigbours house. This topic has nothing to do with me. I just don't think it's really gonna be that much of an advantage because he switched over to Showtime/CBS.
most peole will say Floyd since hes the better fighter and also currently has way more obsessive fans, but Camacho at 130 was a terrible style matchup for him. fast as all hell, and his power wasnt something to scoff at either.
yes, we know that Floyd can fight going forward behind a high guard. The thing is that Camacho was excellent against stalking fighters as well, as shown in his dismantling of Ramirez.
and most people dont know anything about Ramirez, but he should have a win over Alexis ARguello.I agree, Steak. This would've been a huge fight as well. Just imagine the pre-fight hype for this and I can only imagine this fight taking place now, especially with shows such as Fight Camp 360 or 24/7.
Both guys are ego-maniacs, and love to talk to trash. Can you just imagine ?
For all the shit people talk, I think Pac would be very careful about Floyd's right hand. Sure he doesn't hit the hardest, but it is very fast, sharp and accurate. You're gonna tell me Pac is just walk through as if it that right hand means nothing? Not buying it. At least not at first. But, we'd have to wait and see.I agree, hell, I know PBF hits harder than JMM, but even PAC was cautious of JMM's straight rights.
PAC's old habits came out last night. Here's how I see a potential PBF-Dumbquiao showdown..
Doesn't Dumbquiao lunge in alot like Griffin does in that vid. And doesn't PBF like to counter like Silva does, hmm. It's almost like we're watching PBF-Dumbquiao in that vid.
Here's a thread I made earlier http://www.boxingscene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=478974
Yeah. But I still don't understand why Floydie is so afraid of Poochie.
What exactly am I missing?
:usa:He's not afraid. He's simply holding out for more $$$. Whether he gets what he wants is another story. This fight will happen on PBF's time(that's if he doesn't serve time himself, lol) I personally think his OST demand is a joke though, that's what turns me off about PBF.
Why is it that whenever Dumbquiao fights counter-punchers his leg cramps show up, lmao. It happened in the JMM fight, and it conveniently showed up last night.
Can any of the Dumbquaios answer this ?
It's just a bull**** excuse.....I don't think Pac had any freaking cramps, he just couldn't fight well with counterpunchers. I just hope he doesn't get matched up again against them. No Marquez, No Mayweather.I'm glad a PAC fan can be objective. Props to you.
Yeah man, you know as a PBF fan, I've enjoyed many of PAC's fights as well. But, if ever I had a chance to ask PAC one question. I would ask him why he simply doesn't step or circle to his right when facing these counter-punchers.
I mean, he has the footwork to do it. that whole mittwork he does with Roach where he ducks under a left hook and pivots to his right. Why he can't do it in any other situation, I have no clue.
He lounged in on Marquez and got rattled....i have been saying this that the only thing improve about this man is his stamina and strength, which ironically, are the benefits of PEDS, and this is why i question his refusal for the OST. I will not engage any PACTARDS in any discussion on this matter, cuz i am fully entitled to my own opinion. He always had great stamina. I mean, just look at all his fights from the 90's to now, he has always been a work-horse. The power with that left hand has always been there.
dumbquaio, thats cute.
its funny when these little kids lie about their age during registrationThat's all you got. I've made many valid points in my thread. PAC only looks great against f**kin' statues.
yeah the dumb pacquiao still dominated a fight. imagine if he got skills. floyd would be asking for alien test.Yeah, dominating a 40 year old has-been who was a 6-1 underdog was really impressive ?
I mean, where we suppose to expect anything else. , the goal was to KO Shane, it wasn't to just win, it was very specific, it was to be the first man to KO Shane. Because, simply winning was what was expected when you're the heavy favorite, *d*ot !
I agree with you, they should not let a defensive fighter battle with Manny again. It was boring...very un-entertaining.
Come forward sluggers are better....way better. Bring on ORTIZ!!!Except, Ortiz isn't exactly a come-forward fighter. He's a tenacious talented kid, who is actually a natural counter-puncher. He will engage, but, make no mistake about it, his natural instincts is to counter and not so much press the action ala Jose Luis Castillo.
How many world champions do you have in your stable? How many trainer of the year awards do u own?Shut the f**K up. You're missing the point of the thread topic. I'm not trying to imply that Roach is some incompetent coach, not at all.
I'm just a bit baffled as to why Dumbquiao is either being stubborn or simply doesn't have the know how on how to cutoff the ring. A simple adjustment is really all it takes, yet, he hardly does it. He usually ends up following his opponent around rather than cut off the ring. This simple fact alone makes him look amateurish, and it makes the fight harder than it has to be.
Why are you all so mad about a simple observation which happens to be correct~ is it the name calling because come on now.
It would have made him much more effective against Barrera in the second fight and it probably would have allowed him to stop Cotto for real but hey he won all those fights so he must be perfect not like he could make any mistakes or have any flaws~Thank you, sir. And to all my haters, don't let my trash talk get to you. I'm just giving my observations.
I maybe a FMJr fan. But, I like PAC to some degree, and it's frustrating to watch this great fighter make this fundamental mistake and all these years has not made that simple adjustment that could make a huge impact.
yet he annihilated all those guys you mention and has destroyed all his competition/opponents. so what's your pointUgh, when did he annihilate Juanita ?
Shane was scared as sh*t, but, Dumbquiao could've gotten more cracks at a running Shane if he would made the simple adjustment of stepping to his right.
The fight was boring as it is, but, Dumbquiao's lack of "boxing aptitude" made it even more lackluster.
He doesn't know how to cut off the ring. Simple as that.Umm, that's obvious. But, that's not what the thread is about.
It's crazy how they have gone 24 rounds with Juanita and not much effort has been shown on cutting off the ring. Sure, he can get away with it against lower tier fighters, just go in and fire off combinations, but, against master boxers, he is simply gonna have to make that simple key adjustment.
And I find it funny, that Roach, who made a career out of cutting off the ring and we've never heard him advise PAC in-between rounds about circling to his right, WTF
he attacks at distance/range, in and out no matter where u are...stuff like cutting the ring and moving to his right doesn't apply to what he wants to do to his foe... he's not stationary and flat footed so he wouldn't have to cut the ring offSorry, man. But, you have no clue what you're tallkin' about
he has zero boxing aptitude yet he "easily" destroyed a 1st ballot hall of famer and former pound for pound #1 fighter. wow you must rival einstein for intelligenceYou are completely missing the point here !
I'm not arguing who won or loss the fight. It's the way PAC looked in doing so. Why do you think Nazim was saying that PAC couldn't do **** whenever Shane moved to his left(Shane simply could not pull the trigger anymore). Shane had alot of opportunities to crack PAC but he showed every bit of his age on 5/7.
Lmao, this is hilarious. Pacquiao isn't any smarter than Floyd outside the ring.LMAO, no doubt about that, he sure as hell looked dumber than sh*t on 5-7-2011
