I give Hatton lots of credit for beating Tsyzu, and taking on the larger Collazo. But the Maussa victory was nothing special to me.Just look what happened to Carlos recently against what's his name.
I was impressed by Hattons win.He beat an ATG in Tszyu, but I wasn't overly impressed with his performance. It was a pretty boring and sloppy fight IMO.But Ricky executed the right gameplan.
In my mind both are dirty!
Golden Boy - The Juraz and Urango fights just this year.
Top Rank - Too many to mention!
True! But boxing as a whole is dirty. Not just Top rank or golden boy.
I would favor a younger Tszyu over Margarito anyday. But im not sure what he has left at this point. He couldn't handle Hattons pressure,im not sure if he could handle Margarito's.
I just rewatched it last night. It was closer than I had orginally thought. But I still scored the fight for Toney by two rounds, with one round even(11th).I thought the wide margin in the judges scorecards was disgraceful! But this is what we've all come to expect! The only explanation I have is that the judges favored Peters one or two harder punches to Toneys many counters and jabs in some rounds.Which I don't think is fair. The bottom line is that i've seen worst decisions, but this one especially hurts considering this late stage of Toneys career.
Barrera UD over Juarez
Barrios TKO 9th over Guzman
Vazquez UD over Gonzalez
Man,I suck! But I guess it could have been worse.Barrios didn't even come close to hurting Guzman. And Vazquez had no shot at a UD.
Of course I would like to see him fight some better opponents. But I understand him picking Baldomir from a historical perspective.Plus Baldy is a more dangerous opponent than Margarito or Spinks IMO.
I had Toney winning by one round. But if I remember correctly,I also scored an even round.Which I hate to do!So I have no problem with the draw. And no problem with anyone that says Rahman won.It could have gone either way.
Wladimir Klitschko-Probadly the best of the current heavyweight champions.Offensively he's a monster, but I still question his chin and stamina. He seems to be improving though.
Oleg Maskaev-Decent fighter coming off a great win.I see one or two more fights for Oleg. He's by no means a shot fighter, but he's slowed considerably.Great to see him realize his dream before it's too late.
Nicolay Valuev-Not a great fighter. But good for a man his size.Surprisingly good body puncher!A lot remains to be seen with him.
Sergei Liakhovich-Looked great in beating Brewster. And looked good in beating Guinn. Is showing up in better shape now.A lot also remains to be seen with him.
I would like to see a tournment, starting with Wlad versus Nicolay, and Oleg versus Sergei.
I do think that today's referees are more likely to stop fights earlier than the pre 1990's refs. However I think this is more to do with social changes and society's attitude to boxing than anything else. Also I'd rather have a re-match following a controversial stopage than a death.
Good post!
Toney should be able to counter and outpoint Peter all night. But if he shows up as out of shape as he was for the Rahman fight,Than I predict Peter will outwork and maybe even stop him.
Im favoring Toney in this one.Although im not counting Peter out.I just hope that James shows up in better shape than his last fight. He would have definetly outpointed Rahman if he was in better shape IMO.
Nah, but I think Ruiz gave Toney his toughest fight at the weight and people don't like to admit it. I had it closer than the judges, who were bound to favour the more box office friendly Toney. You could say Rahman pushed him closer, but Rahman fought a fat bastard Toney.
Toney should win this one no doubt, but his balance was shit last time out.
I also think that Ruiz did a lot better than people give him credit for.I still had Toney winning the fight. But it was close in my opinion.I feel the same way with the Judah/Mayweather fight.
