this fight was far from impressive..it was a wreslting and hitting match....i predicted hatton would win (do a search, im always right) but it still wasnt a impressive win...hatton didnt show any skill other then the fact he could have been a good high school wreslter..who agrees?
its a smothering tactic , if it was mayweather beating zoo in the same fashion it wud be ok
First off, NO it wouldn't...Second, Mayweather would never do something like that because Floyd considers himself a "BOXER"

Moving on, what of the other opponents out there, in or around Hatton's weight category? Miguel Cotto for example?
"I think he is a great fighter, but he's a welterweight. He has got to move up to Welterweight NOW."
And how does he think Ricky would fare against him at 147?
"Why would we take the fight at 147?" he asks incredulously.
At 140 then?
"At 140, Ricky would stop him. It wouldn't be early, but Ricky would stop him", he states adamantly.
"Why would we take the fight at 147?" This sounds to me like a Hell no we wont fight him at 147. I might be wrong but that is what is sounds like to me.
It's all about getting the advantage...this is why Chico made a big deal of fighting Castillo at that specific weight, even though everybody had to know that for Castillo to make weight he would have to chop one leg off. I hate this type of shit...you fight a HEALTHY fighter or don't fight at all.
The actual fight wasn't too impressive, but what he acheived in making Kostya Tszyu quit like that was a great acheivement. If you think about it, Ricky Hatton had two choices, he could have went in there and done exactly what he did and come out with the victory over THE MAN at 140, or he could have went in there and tried to make an exciting all out brawl of a fight which was "impressive" in the fans opinion, but got knocked out.
I am of the opinion that although the performance was not impressive, Hattons ability to render Tszyu's main weapon useless, whilst at the same time putting a relentless ass whooping on him is/was probably the highest acheivement in Hatton's career to date, and it will take something spectacular to surpass it.
agree...even though I didn't like how Hatton won, it was the smart thing to do and probably the only thing Hatton could do...it is all about the "W" so he achieved that...it isn't what I wanted or even expected to see, but oh well. It would have been really impressive, even if Hatton fought the same way, if this was the prime version of Tszyu, that would of been something, or even Kostya prior to the injuries.
The bad part about this fight is that I went from being a major Hatton fan to a lesser degree Hatton fan...though I still love his interviews.
I think I got worried once I heard Tszyu was having trouble taking the weight off, furthered by the trouble making weight at the weighin, and then his pouring of sweat just walking into the ring was just bad news.
I hate fights that just have that cloud over it...that's why I really want a Mayweather vs Hatton fight NOW, before these guys really tail off.
I was impressed by Hattons win.He beat an ATG in Tszyu, but I wasn't overly impressed with his performance. It was a pretty boring and sloppy fight IMO.But Ricky executed the right gameplan.
if i remember the interview properly graham said the fight wud be easier for hatton at 140 then it wud be at 147

Okay why not fight Castillo in England.
Castillo is only suspended in USA.
He needs big names and he need it fast fighting Urango is not a the answer because most people regards him as paper champ because Ben Rabah got robbed but actully Ben Rabah is different fighting style than Hatton because he is excellent boxer and Hatton is a slugger.
It is going to be a tough fight for Hatton IMO because Urango is well build and strong and would come more prepared in Hatton fight.
The fight would be power vs volume as well as inside defense. that is the whole keypoint to the fight and if he stuggles with Urango i know he would because Urango is a bit underated , well build southpaw with lot of power and that is something you dont wanna mess up with it could change the whole outcome of the fight in once sec, It well look bad for Hatton.
Is that the reason the Hatton camp said they did not want any part of Cotto at 147? That they would like a fight with Cotto only at 140? Search on the forum, there was an interview with the Hatton camp where this was said.

and now everybodys attention has turned to cotto in this thread , hatton will ko cotto inside 10 rounds

Not at all. It doesn't make it right if Ali came into the ring and did. It's holding and hitting, and is a foul.
IronMikeTyson, good call on Hatton KOing Cotto inside 10, that's only 85% of the fight. Really went out on a limb.
People in the US tend to call grabbing someone's right arm, and firing off rights as you grasp his arm "holding and hitting", not "smothering"
its a smothering tactic , if it was mayweather beating zoo in the same fashion it wud be ok
still people fail to realise what hatton needed to do to win , he needed to neutralise zoos right hand and the only way he could do that was smuther hes work , but zoo smuthered himself as much as hatton smuthered him
they was both clinching

i think cotto would be too big on the inside and eat hatton alive with hooks to the body and head
i thought it was an exciteing win for hatton i loved the fight
I agree with you 100%
Hatton should fight Cotto to regain his image or a rematch against Callazo or any big names
Those are the 2 fights I'd love to see at 147 for Hatton, but we now that aint happening, I think his gonna sink or swim against JLC.
