BTW you said you haven't seen the fight, why did you vote for Peter then??
huh? where did i vote? it might have been my broter but i havn't vote for anything so far
anyway thanks for the video :)
I just rewatched it last night. It was closer than I had orginally thought. But I still scored the fight for Toney by two rounds, with one round even(11th).I thought the wide margin in the judges scorecards was disgraceful! But this is what we've all come to expect! The only explanation I have is that the judges favored Peters one or two harder punches to Toneys many counters and jabs in some rounds.Which I don't think is fair. The bottom line is that i've seen worst decisions, but this one especially hurts considering this late stage of Toneys career.
Close fight hard to score. I had it 115-114 for Peter with 2 rounds even. But overall good fight. Either guy could have won.
I watched it for the first time one Monday night's replay (I had a wedding to attend Sat. night). My impression was probably skewed by the fact that I had read all the threads about it on Sunday, but I agree that Toney was very impressive. It was difficult to score, however, and all those rapid, well-placed punches that Peter didn't see coming failed to discourage the bigger man. Toney displayed his skill and also an unbelievable chin. But Peter is a big guy who kept coming forward and landed some huge punches; at no point was he in any real trouble. One thing I'll say is that I feel bad for Toney; the look on his face at the end was that of a cheated man, which is much different from that of a beaten man.
Very close fight either way. Peter landed heavier shots and forced Toney back with his jab in many exchanges, causing him to be off balance and miss with his counter shots. At times he even countered Toney's left hook with his own right. Toney won his rounds with his slickness and combinations off of his counters, but only had Peter hurt once in the fight. Peter had him seriously hurt two or three times; at one point Toney grabbed onto the top rope to keep himself up (an illegal move). Unfortunately Peter lacked the stamina to followup. He was just not in good shape for his young age.
If he had come to fight at around 230-240 pounds, I don't think he would have let James off the hook.
It was a good fight, both men hurt each other once, no knockdowns! Toney controlled the fight and won it pretty clearly. Big robbery!
what did peter and toney say after the fight?
i'm a fan of both fighters and i wanna know.. sorry for asking
