Both losses had their reasons: The fight with Phillips, not saying Phillips would have won anyway, but Tszyu if I remember correctly, was dealing with outside troubles, which was the dispute over his management/money. He was going to the gym late, and not training like he was supposed to...people were telling him to postpone the fight but Tszyu (with his ego) said he was going to win anyway.
Hatton, I have stated it many times before and it was not that big of a secret.
For pressure fighters fighting Tszyu that can take his power, probably agree.
Chavez, if bigger, would have a better chance, but Julio wasn't the size of Phillips or Hatton.
You got some pretty good points but I still think a prime chavez with his chin of steal and his non stop pressure would of broken down Tszyu's hearth. Dont get me wrong Tszyus is one of the best fighters ever and I think he was doing pretty good in the phillips fight and i dont know why the hell he quit on the Hatton fight because I tought it was a Real close fight.

And Please don't be like everybody else and say that I am now a Tszyu "Nuthugger" simply because you like one fighter over the other. I have always stated my problems with Tszyu: (1)His ego tends to get in the way...when he is not the underdog he believes the hype and doesn't seem to have the same fire.
(2) He didn't move up to 147 to fight the big name fighters when they were there, Oscar, Shane, Tito, and even Vernon Forrest.
Chavez was shit in that fight because of age, wear and tear, etc., but I don't think Chavez really had the chin to take Kostya's punches anyway. Yes I know, "Chavez has the greatest chin in the history of the sport"
Kostya and Oscar beat Chavez in Julio's prime...they are just to big, powerfull and skilled.
I have to put in my two cents because I disagree that Tszyu would beat a prime chavez I remember Tszyu gettying tko'd against Phillips in his prime and then he got stoped by Hatton it seem that he had trouble against fighters that can take his punch and keep coming foward with their own bombs.
Now Tszyu will be in something like when Chavez fight with Kostya. I hope this fight happen.

Hey guys, remember why Hatton beat him though. A superior game plan and superior strength on the night, along with a dogged determination to win.
Like Juice I havent seen much of Margarito, however what I have seen is him boxing with a lot less technical skill than Ricky Hatton. He appears to be a bit of a brawler like Hatton but with less skill and an equally good chin. Am I wrong?
Im predicting Tszyu to win... If Tszyu wasnt so old, I would fair him with Mayweather also.
I still believe it was Tszyu's struggle to make weight because of his age, layoff, and frame, causing his muscles to be flat and weak.
I have known many athletes, boxers and wrestlers particularly, that have looked much different after trying to lose the weight for their fight, only to say they felt like they had "nothing."
Lets not forget the injury, both causing his layoff before the Mitchell (II) fight, and supposedly in the Hatton fight: injuries hinder performance. Yea, I know he looked "great" against Mitchell, but that was excitement that is more emotional: Tszyu was able to come back from the long layoff from injuries and knock Sharmba out in quick fashion, but go back and look at the fight and you will see Tszyu's timing was off. It was not until he stunned Sharmba that his “timing” looked better. Sharmba was scared shitless, didn't have the chin to take his punch causing him to get stunned early, and preventing us from seeing if Tszyu could go more than 6 tough rounds.
All that said, if you go back and look at Tszyu's entire career, from amatuers till now, his speed, reflexes, maybe a bit of his power, have gone down...the fire in his belly doesn't seem the same either. Age, wear and tear from injuries, is a bitch.
We shouldn't count Tszyu out, but the guy isn't exactly in his "Prime"
You guys talking about warmups are crazy. Tszyu is too old and he's a vet. He doesnt need a tuneup and most of all he doesnt have time for a tuneup. A tuneup is only for if your going to continue having a career. This will be Tszyu's last fight if he loses and if he wins it still might be his last fight or only just a couple of more. Thats why he doesnt need a tuneup.
I've seen Margarito fight in the Santos fight and later. And I must say this guy is a fuck badass for a welter. He's big, packs a lot of power, has topnotch stamina and a chin which laughs off punches.
I say he's a bigger version of a Hatton-Castillo type.
He doesn't play it pretty, he jumps on his opponents and applies pressure non-stop. I'm impressed with his style much like PAC.
He is a fighter who has been ducked by Mosley, PBF and Winky if I'm not mistaken.
Kostya should stay retired. A nastier version of Hatton is not what he needs right now.
i don't like the fact that kostya has been out of the ring for so long. it's been over a year since the hatton fight, and before that he had a rematch with sharmba and was off for like two years before that. i love tszyu, and although i don't think this is going to happen, if it does i would prefer a warmup bout or two before this. either way i pick tszyu by late round tko.
I told you guys Tszyu wouldnt retire. There is no guy who can fight his whole career at one weight, lose at the end, and then retire without ever moving up. Only Hagler did it. It kills guys like Tszyu & Hopkins because they will always want to know how it wouldve felt to just have 1 fight in another class.
Both guys couldnt take retiring without knowing how good they would be if they didnt have to kill themselves to make weight.
This would be a great fight if it happened and you would have to favor Margarito because of natural size, Tszyu's inactivity, & Tszyu's recent loss but it still could be a great fight. It wouldnt surprise me if Tszyu looked great at WW and its a perfect style matchup. You know Tszyu would try to stand there and just time Margarito coming in with a big right hand.
You would think that Margarito would kill him since Hatton beat him by just coming straight at him but the difference is Hatton has much more speed and is more relentless. With Margarito he will throw a 100 punches but the way he throws them gives you time to setup things and land big shots.
This is a dream fight to me
very true mate

Kostya should stay retired, he doesn't have his heart in it anymore and will get beaten again just because of that.
Don't count KT out yet, remember the loss he took against Phillips? That was his motivation to accomplish everything he did afterwards. He might come back better than ever after the loss to Hatton.
True with some fighters, but not with Tsyzu!
scap is right, you are wrong. Kostya has taken brutal punishment in many fights. That's always been his style. He never minded getting hit, and has always been willing to trade and mix it up. The rougher the better. And he's fought a lot of tough customers. Anyone remember that brutal fight where Kostya was fighting this dude who looked like a super-middleweight, a cuban dude or something? He just kept coming and eventually stopped the guy.
A prime Kostya v. Mayweather is disaster for Mayweather. Kostya had the sharp counters and straight punches to really throw Floyd off his game.
A current Kostya v. Mayweather is still an interesting fight, even though Floyd should be a heavy favorite.
A current Kostya v. Margarito is disaster waiting to happen. Margarito is brutal and relentless, and his size would just give him too many advantages over an aged Tszyu. I'd pay to see it, as would everyone else, but by the 3rd round I'd be cringing, wondering when they were going to stop it.
he's not good..he just is lucky enough to be very big for his weight class..just like paul williams..neither one is that good
If size is all it takes then Lance "Goofy" Whitiker would be the dominate Heavyweight today.
Isn't Antonio Margarito supposeded to be a suck ass fighter? According to many of you! Now some of you who have hated on Margarito are picking him to win over Tszyu?
Actually Tszyu is a young 36, he's only fought 34 times in his career.Holyfield has 49 pro fights and so does Wladimir Klitschko, but you cannot compare their resumes and the toughness of their opponents...
Holyfield went to war to get those wins, where Wlad just cruised through most of his fights....
De La Hoya has 42 pro fights and he is only 33.. a young 33. But most his fights, like Holifield's were wars and he took a lot of punishment to get those wins.
My point is that the # of fights and the age mean shit
