The man doesn't stand a chance of breaking Louis' record, although Louis' record was built partly because he rarely fought good fighters.
Some of the guys he defended his title against had 25 losses or more.
The Klitschko brothers era is much stronger than the weak Louis "bum of the month" era.
Prime 4 Prime...Louis is too small and chinny, he gets destroyed by either Klitschko.
Even though I am non-White, I have to agree with that sentiment.
I have never in my life seen such a strong World Champion as Wladimir Klitschko, yet Louis was about as strong as Pacman or Hatton.
ricky is still in his prime...you know ricky's power might be the answer to little pac...once pac gets hit hard...he will become paulie malginaggi's twin brother
I hope so, but I just cannot see it.
I know Ricky Hatton is one of the nicest, most altruistic men to win world titles in this great sport, but sometimes us Brits do over-hype him.
If he manages to beat Pacquiao, then we can imply that he is the greatest fighter on the planet, but not before.
Speed almost always kills in boxing, so my money is on Pacquio.
I hope Ricky Hatton wins as he does a huge amount for various charities across the United Kingdom and the rest of the world, but I just cannot see it. It will be like the Mayweather fight all over again, accept Ricky will take more punches.
Ricky is the older, much slower fighter and it is many years since he beat the brilliant world champion Kostya Tzu
He got away with it because (and I hate to admit this) us White men on the whole are utterly pathetic. We are timid and we take whatever shit is thrown at us.
I see it every single day in my neighbourhood. Now, I have a couple of great black friends and I think that anti-black racism is not only insidious but also unwarranted, but there is no denying that there are a disproportionate amount of racially motivated attacks committed against White men. In fact, last week my younger brother (aged just 15) was attacked and beaten up badly (his retina got detached, amongst other things) by three black men wielding baseball bats, who called the kid a "f***ing whiteboy" before they laid into him. The police are obviously trying to get the guys but they have said that it "clearly was not a racist attack". They did take his wallet, but it would have most definitely been declared a racist attack had it been the other way round.
If Joe Calzaghe had hurled racist abuse at Hopkins (say he called him a black boy) a criminal investigation would have been launched; and rightly so.
I would bet anyone my house that Hopkins actually still has some White fans! That is how pathetic we are.
As for those who say that huge numbers of Arabs enslaved black people as did some white people, then what about White slavery? What is in the past is in the past and Hopkins is a multi-millionaire who should know better.

I think making a "criminal investigation" in someone calling someone black is taking it a little too far
Sadly you are wrong.

I think he's a good world champion and has done well to get Taylor on his record and a big payday in the states , fair play , reitire happy :boxing: but fighters from the UK like Hatton and Calzaghe are just a level above , more like the elite world champions.Would be good for him to go on to bigger things from here , his goal should be ring mag champ since he's already got the wbc belt or undisputed champion , that way he achieves greatness . He should chuck chasing Calzaghe and go after the other big names at supermiddle-weight
Very good post.
I concur completely.
This was an an impressive victory against an ATG in Jose Luis Castillo.

Not sure the Malignaggi victory is as great, though.
As for Barrera, when he fought Pacquiao he was sadly a shell of his former self as he peaked extremely early.
Very good points, there.
so if calzaghe is not great now when the hell was he ever great?
Calzaghe is 37 and slightly past his best.
He would never destroy a prime, World Champion Jeff Lacy in his current state.
imagine he KO'd joe while he was in super middle and KO'd tarver wen he was in light heavy and then retired after beating ruiz
Imagine all the people.......................
I would have to agree with that.
Obviously Tarver is a very good fighter and to win the Heavyweight Championship of the World after being a middleweight world champion is truly incredible and will never be replicated again.
Yup.
One of the greatest achievements in boxing.
Ever.
Yeah...you're britishfan...let's capped all these political jargon....and enjoy boxers for the warriors they are...i still don't like Cal-slappy...but i can appreciate Hatton...He's quite classy and laidback...but he's delusional if he thinks he'll beat my boy Mayweather in a rematch....he needs to focus on "The MEXICUTIONER" or else....this fight is not really between Hatton and Pacquiao...it's between Floyd "Joy" Sr and Slow Roach. And i think floyd is a better trainer...but Pac has improved greatly.....I used to think Manny will talk this....but FLOYD IS SERIOUS!!!!...this is a toss up....50-50 just like Hatton said.
Glad to see a boxing post from you for once, and not a provocative one.
:)
he hasn't been knocked out yet so he has a granite chin? or maybe its the fact hes facing old dudes who can only punch one punch at a time. if they werent old and let their hands go he would be out of there and these old guys arent even known for being power punchers to begin with. not to mention byron mitchell and kabary salem(you kidding me) had him on queer street. SAD.
So, Calzaghe has only ever fought old guys?
In his decade of being a World Champion?
Do you seriously believe that?
I tend not to like whiteboys, especially British, but I don't mind Joe Calzaghe.
Not many guys have been World Champion for well over a decade and retired undefeated. Also, for him to unify his division, then go and win a World title at Light-Heavyweight against the great Bernard Hopkins (long before Bernard destroyed Kelly Pavlik) is kinda impressive.
