I looking around if there is a Manilla Town in Chicago. I wouldn't mind getting a real bet going at a sports bar with some Pinoys.
Nonito has a height, and reach advantage. Nonito will more then likely come in and fight tall. But Fernado's stance is set up to neutralize counter punchers. I sense a huge upset.
lol.
I'm Puerto Rican. This was at 165.
Props for getting in the ring to fight at @165 considering your height. You should look into going down at 20 IBS. To many tall ppl can make that weight.
As for tips, relentless pressure, and rolling with punches. Strait up maul him, anything you have to do get to his body. It’s a tough fight for you, since there is a very big gap in reach, and size.
ok break this down...let's see if you are for real:D
just remember...donaire is not your average counterpuncher.
Break it down. Hmm Ok sure.
Counter punchers relay largely on reading body language, mainly to determine what telegraphed punched can be countered. I understand that Nonito is more gifted than the norm, given that he has good movement, and his ability to shoot his jab. But he is still a counter puncher by heart.
The problem is, Fernando has an awkward style. He lowers his stance, and intentionally drops his arms. Not only does this makes it harder to read body language, but it is used as a bait to lure in its foe into an exchange, or a counter. If you cant tell if he is going to toss a soft or hard punch, or what kind of punch is coming. Than you will be unable to properly counter period, and pay dearly.
That is why Fernando has great performances over counter punchers. You cant read him, he is deceptive.
That is why Nonito needs to relay on boxing from the outside.
To be honest
That was a terrible analytical assessment.
Only advantage Montiel will have is coming into the ring last and having his name announced last. Other then that, he has nothing
But of course!
I would say its fairly obvious if you’ve seen a few fights of his. But Fernando losses the first two rounds, since he is tossing probing punches to measure range.
Fernando from round 3rd, lowers his stance, and arms for two reasons.
1 - it deceives a boxers ability to read his body language. You can not tell what punches, or how strong they are from that stance.
2 - he uses lower center of gravity, to pivot his body upward to create inertia thus land harder blows.
The cons of using this stance, well it leaves yourself stationary, especially against foes with good hand speed, and footwork.
Not only did Ortiz lose, and lose badly to Maidana. He destroyed his reputation, thanks to his idotic comments. Asking for a rematch against Maidana would speak volumes of him.
GBP should invest in someone else, I doubt Ortiz is the same animal.
Pedro Diaz is the only person keeping this 24/7 interesting. I would love to see more of his insights in regards to his training methods-programs-conditioning etc..making athletes to into Olympic/pro champions.
I think he should stay at 154 there no point in him staying at 147 just waiting for Arum/pac to make up their mind. at 154 he has biger fish to catch and even some 160 lbers could come down and fight him
If he gets comfy at 154, maybe a possible Martinez/Canelo encounter down the line. Yet the chances of Floyd/Pac being made goes down.
The fight with Cotto was closer. This is one of the few times where, we see him uncomfortable in the pocket, and getting out jabbed in the middle of the ring.
The best 24/7 has been Hatton/Floyd for reasons brought here by other members.
Outside of that series, I particularly enjoyed Marques vs Floyd/Manny. In part because he's my country men, and then there is the curiosity of how you can be this good at this age. Next thing you know, we watch him drink pee, and run through a phucking volcano.
Well shyt on me.
Love watching him fight and will be rooting for him to win...I'm just a bit worried that where Montiel's shots tend to be quite wide, Donaire's straighter punches might nail KOchulito straight down the middle again and again.
Will be interesting to see what happens if/when Montiel lands something big on Donaire's chin...
Well if he has the ring I.Q. he claims to have, and options. I am certain he is aware of how flawed it is, to use his check hook vs. sharp shooter from the get go.
I believe Fernando will revert to boxing, gunning to land hard shots on the body. If he senses Nonito slowing down, he will attempt to land his left hook, or right uppercut.
doing the chicken dance and rolling on the floor is one hell of a style
That was a monstrous shot. Shocking, and Monstrous. My respect goes to Fernando for having the heart to get up from that.
Every Nation has its moment, it seems the Philipinos are getting a two for one deal in this era.
While Manny may step down in a few short years, Nonito will step in with a few more high profile victories.
Why do you keep naming the stances after Fight Night? Some people may not know what you're talking about hahaha.
I don't play Fight Night....and I didn't mean for it to come out as a stance.
I was just pointing out that Nonito is vastly accurate, and I used an analogy to describe his accurateness.
All you got to do is watch this short video of the bigger Valdez having his way with Montiel and you'll understand montiel is in for a tough night
Thats a bad example Montiel dominated Valdez in the first round, and Valdez took over in the 2nd. After the 2nd you need to factor in that huge cut on Montiel eye, which greatly helped Valdez.
If not for the cut, this would have been a seesaw battle.
Make no mistake about it, Montiel will win his fight with Donire. For all his speed, and movement he is way to easy to be found.
If Marquez can find a way to neutralize his enourmous head, he would stop Bradly in his tracks.
Seriously there is nothing impressive about this deformed man child.
I've always been a fan of Zab, I am happy Sweet Pea is taking him under his wing. I am also happy that Zab has improved his deffense. Though he has slowed down.
I think it would be comptetive. Hopefully he can climb up the ranks, for one last hora.
If this was pre Margarito, I would heavily favor him. But with his recent performance agianst Yuri Foreman. Yuri "feather fisted knee busted" Foreman, leaves much to be desired.
Despite Canelos flaws, he is the bigger/younger/stronger of the two.
