I know he actually has to fight the guy first, but lets face it he knows he's the underdog in the fight...GBP are not trying to feed Ortiz as a name opponent for Berto because it's not doing them any benefit it would be doing Dibella a benefit, because Berto will move up to making PPV fights...Which GBP will not make a penny off...I think that in a business perspective GBP wants to know if Ortiz has become an expense to their company...In other words it's either make it or break it for Ortiz...They want to know if he's damaged goods...They believe in his physical strength, but they want to know if he's championship material...They had a business plan for this kid and they probably wanted to bring him to the PPV scale by the time he was 24 years old, but all that was shut down by Maidana...I'm sure they talked about these plans with Ortiz as well...That's why Ortiz said he will take this fight...He wants to prove he has heart by facing ANYONE...This is the right fight to prove that...If Ortiz pulls this off he'll have a better resume than Khan IMO...
Not only did Ortiz lose, and lose badly to Maidana. He destroyed his reputation, thanks to his idotic comments. Asking for a rematch against Maidana would speak volumes of him.
GBP should invest in someone else, I doubt Ortiz is the same animal.
I can see Ortiz winning this fight because he can if he decides to make it a technical war...Berto will be willing to exchange to which favors Ortiz...but does Ortiz wanna get into all that?
i get the impression this guy knows people around him are dissapointed...he seems a fairly bright kid and must have known GBP were banking on turning him into a superstar....after the Peterson fight when he is at the post fight presser, Oscar DLH is listening in to him talk to the media and looks so dissapointed and non-interested in what sh1t excuses he is making about why he didnt win...
i get the feeling Ortiz is trying to make up for the Maidana fight still and is doing things to please others when his head really isn't ready yet...i could be totally wrong, but thats how i see things...the kid is putting on a front, trying to be the hero he was meant to be, but in reality he keeps coming up short, but rather then take a step back and try and get his head together, he trys to please others around him but i'm not buying it.....
He's not a duck, he's been in the ring with some good fighters. But I don't think he has much heart. In some of the videos I've seen a lot of people say that he just doesn't like to get hit. I guess he just doesn't have a warrior's heart. He's a good fighter though and will win a world title some day, hopefully sooner rather than later (i.e. against Berto).
Not at all. It shows he is willing to test himself, but if he goes out and shows no heart in the ring, then him taking the fight means nothing about his heart. Definitely a winnable fight for Ortiz, we'll see how he responds to most people counting him out at this point.
My question is after Berto where does Ortiz go from there? Does he fight Dejan Zaveck? Cintron? Mike Jones?
Be Floyds big tune up! Lol jk..
But seriously. that's a good question..
Idk but having that title would get everyones attention.
Would he be considered a legit champ or weak?
If Ortiz can maintain a strong mind...then he has a very good chance of winning this, I STRONGLY doubt that happens though. Once Berto starts getting his in Ortiz will be on full retreat mode and ready to be taken out. My honest opinion.
I think it does say a lot about him and his competition. I like ortiz and I hope he takes bertos title. I think that'll propel him ahead of all the other 140ers
