It has been some 4 years I'm hooked into this sport now. Before that I used to follow some traditional Chinese martial arts, whats literally called as in Chinese "Chinese Boxing". I was really passionate about it, I couldn't even sleep, walk, talk or work without thinking about it.
Then I thought I needed to practice something that helps my skills :D In martial arts, there is a notion so some ppl really overlook to boxing and other competition sports, I'm glad I overcame it, how foolish. I wanted to practice boxing over kickboxing or MMA or Muay Thai bcz boxing looked so special to me, I felt like it was tailor cut for me. It wasn't "it" but "she" or a classy old gentlemen for me.
I've been practicing, thinking about, watching, dreaming and living for boxing since then. I feel like if you take it off my life, there will be a huge gap which I won't be able to fill, I might just want to leave this life rather than trying to fill it. I always tell myself that if you really love something or someone, you don't care what happens, you keep loving it.
I started practicing some eastern martial arts after feeling really vulnerable and weak after facing some situations; someone would bully someone and i'd walk onto them.
I don't know why but traditional martial arts community has a delusional view towards western martial arts/ fighting sports. They always say their systems are deadly and superior to every other system because it was designed by some legendary Shaolin monk or in the Shaolin temple...
They look at western fighters as savage creatures who fight without any technique, philosophy, body mechanics etc. and see them and their techniques as poor stuff. And these traditional martial guys can not fight, can not execute their techniques, %95 watered down systems fully craap, they never sweat. They don't work out because they believe it makes them slow. They beleive in chi or magic for real!
So i had similar kind of view towards boxing for a time.
But i wasn't stupid, i realized i needed to actually fight people to see if my technique work and improve myself. I eventually started to watch some boxing and mma and little by little realized that it was the stuff that works.
Not mma but boxing caught my attention after all for ever. At first i started it just to improve my punches but realized that it should be the way a human fights. And it's pretty classy and noble art to me.
not tiny just don't have to make myself so big on internet and if in shape don't think too many 220 or so.im about 155-160 in good shape and not gonna lie about so somone I never will meet will think I'm tough lol
Don't mind him, he must have felt that you are not of the African origin.
He is a racist mental case.
It's no good meddling with mental ppl like that. Larry is a really troubled spirit. He should just quit the forum and be a more relaxed and mature person. I wish nothing but the best for him, he is acting like a child...
Haaha true, ppl here idk why but acting like they get some commission off fights made or have interests on some boxers.
You better secure your own sorry life before thinking about boxing stars welfare and payment. Afterall we are the ones who have to work for some 40 years 5 6 times a week. We watch them to be entertained.
What about some less highlighted ones. Miguel Berchelt did good this year, vs Francisco Vargas n Takashi Miura.
Jmall Charlo sounded his name, had good wins vs Trout n Julian Williams.
It hit me today, Keith Thurman.
He unified the division and beat Danny Garcia in a huge event. He definitely drew a big crowd and didn't disappoint them.
IN this aspect 100% he needs to be rated above AJ, don't even try to justify AJ's wins.
And his success this year is far better than Spence's.
I think Crawford and Thurman are the strongest candidates for the #1 post.
Whoever says Mayweather was dominated for the first 4 needs to actually watch some 12 rounder fights rather than just youtube or instagram boxing highlights.
Like many friends here, watching the fight I also saw what 2 years lay off and 41 Floyd was thinking:
"It's a 12 rounder, I'm Money Mayweather, I want KO; this Connor guy has huge weight, height and reach advantage but bad conditioning compared to me. So I'm gonna tire him out to pave the way for KO."
If you watch the fight with this notion you'll realize Floyd first tested his power and roughed him and then constantly shot to the body with straight right to drain his breath, to break him down. And it paid off. You saw Floyd started to land big from the 4th on.
He could box this guy easily had he not wanted a KO, he sacrificed defence for offence and took some shots naturally. Connor is shiddy, only reason he stood there was his size, no greatness or skill. After 10 years Floyd got a KO, with little power left in him.
1- Racism
2- Conceit
Some ppl are extremely blinded by racism here that they are just running racial propaganda with every post. They justify fouls, PEDs, never accept a lose but call it a robbery, accuse other ppl for being racist whenever they don't like their fighter... Andre Ward low blows, headbutts, cuts open but ppl justify all these.
Conceit is also immensely popular here. They call fighters bums so easily and without shame. Cotto is a bum, Morales bum, Andre Berto bum, Mexicans bum, Europeans are robots, Ggg bum, Jacobs chinny, Wilder dksab, Klitschko robot... So much disrespect from ppl who don't sweat or bleed. Don't just call fighters bums like that bcz it hurts and not true.
I don't enjoy either but AJ wins it wide with his good stance and basics. I just want to see Wilder fight someone who reacts to missed huge shots and fill openings.
He pushes his opponent off using his forearm on the guys throat. Totally illegal..
It's smothering, skinny fighters have to do that. I also do that, otherwise bad.
He will be remembered as a great boxer by boxing fans. If you remember him any other way, you ain't a boxing fan.
You guys are some type of governing body to condemn people just when they not on the same side with you, right?
He is a great boxer, true but he'll surely be remembered as a dirt bag before that.
How was Mayweather dirty?
I always respected Floyd's attitude, he served as a good example for all. I haven't even seen him doing some accidental foul.
Explain this please. ward has literally no articles about him calling him dirty. He is called dirty exclusively in internet forums. The majority of those are not rational fans, but guys like mlac, Freedom, hype job, etc etc.
How are a few internet wack jobs going to shape how people remember Ward?
People don't call him like that bcz people who don't box write those articles and the casual fans fail to notice what he is doing. When a boxer jabs you see what kind of a jab is that (low, high, stiff, flick..) but someone who doesn't box just thinks that a punch is thrown.
