Here is my top ten:
1)Manny Pacquiao
2)Joe Calzaghe
3)Isreal Vazquez
4)Juan Manuel Marquez
5)Miguel Cotto
6)Rafeal Marquez
7)Ivan Calderon
8)Bernard Hopkins
9)Paul Williams
10)Chad Dawson
Honorable mentions: Shane Mosley, Vic Darchinyan, Kelly Pavlik, Arthur Abraham, Tony Margarito, Mikkel Kessler, any of them could be #10 IMO
What in the name of Jesus Christ have Dawson and Williams done?????
Just my opinion, Paul Williams is on top of his game right now he beat Margarito, he destroyed and avenged his only loss like a man, has gone up in weight and brutally demolished his opponents, only person to ever KO Verno Phillips, and has been trying for a Pavlik fight all the way up at 160. Chad Dawson is definitely questionable especially since he lost to Glen Johnson or a draw at best in my eyes but hey he got the W on paper and with that he beat Johnson, Tarver, Tomasz Adamek and is trying to lure a fight with Calzaghe.
And if we are gonna question each others list in my opinion Hatton has looked like shit since his first welterweight fight, I thought he loss to Collazo, didn't really look great against Lazcano or Urango either, not to mention he clearly beat Malginaggi but damn it was ugly IMO and think everyone is hyping that win up b/c Floyd Sr. was in his corner shit wasn't that impressive, it kinda made me sick to watch!!!!
Ring magazine should let someone with an unbiased opinion of Golden Boy Promotions do there P4P b/c they always favor there fighters, and B-Hop is not a top 5 P4P anymore and if Shane is even on the list he is 10 in my eyes and 9 at best, SMH at Shane being higher then Cotto even though Cotto beat him and Cotto has only lost one fight, Shane has fought good lately but he ain't a top 8 P4P imo.
Winky was ROBBED in that B-Hop fight, Winky easily won that fight. The Tito/Oscar argument I had a DRAW but if anyone won I believe it was prolly Oscar as much as I HATE to admit it!!!!
He is 9 on my top 10 and don't have a problem with 9 or 10, Cotto has lost one fight and it is against a monster in that division not to mention Cotto fights in one of if not the toughest weight classes in boxing:
1)Manny Pacquiao
2)Joe Calzaghe
3)Isreal Vazquez
4)Juan Manuel Marquez
5)Antonio Margarito
6)Miguel Cotto
7)Rafeal Marquez
8)Ivan Calderon
9)Cristian Mijares
10)Bernard Hopkins (wasn't in my top 10 but DAMN his performance was nice)
I doubt the Bob father or any promoter would put both fights on the same card.
It would be nice but I think they would rather have to seperate events and get more money out it.
Chances are it wouldn't go down like that, thats why I said if it were up to me, but with the recession we are in and the fact that PPV buys are down it wouldn't be a bad idea to have them both on a card with each other again before hopefully matching Cotto and Margarito in a rematch. Cotto/Quintana and Margarito/Clottey were on the same card and Cotto/Gomez and Margarito/Cintron were on the same card and neither were PPV not to mention Margarito/Williams first match wasn't PPV, so I don't see why Arum can't put the greed on the back burner and give us a PPV with two good cards on it!!!! Cotto/Clottey and Margarito/Williams on one PPV!!!!
Corrales/Castillo 1, Marquez/Vazquez triliogy, Katsidis/Casamayor and a very unlikely one which noone prolly agrees with is Sergio Mora/Peter Manfredo 1, I HATE Mora and like Manfredo so it was an exciting fight for me.
Manfredo was robbed blind in the second one. I have no idea what the hell the judges were watching. It wasnt as bad as Burton vs Augustus but it was up there.
Yeah he was clearly robbed the second time but I also felt he won the first fight or at least thought it could be scored a draw!!!!
In a rematch Cotto goes to the body, I mean he didn't throw ANY body shots and we already know you ain't beating Margarito with head shots. A rematch should take place but first I would like to see a PPV with Williams/Margarito in the main event and Cotto/Clottey on the undercard, then let Marg and Cotto do it again!!!!
I am a huge Cotto fan and won't make up any excuses, I actually like both fighters they are both in my top 5 favorite active boxers. One thing I don't like is how Marg fans act like he didn't get beat up pretty good also, he may not have been hurt in the fight but he took some punishment, I still would like to see these two go at it again!!!!
Please.... Cotto did land some bombs but Margarito just laughed at his ass.
Isn't that what I just stated? Cotto landed HUGE shots it just didn't really affect Margarito any other WW would have been KO'd by them shots. Margarito's face looked like a kid waiting to lose his baby fat, he took some punishment in there and this is exactly what I am talking about Why can't Margarito fans admit he took WAY too many punches and took a beating also just happend to be able to take it better and win the fight!!!!
I'd go with Pavlik but off that list I will say Andre Ward, although I don't believe he will get the hype he will be undefeated the longest and prolly have a good career behind the scenes.
IMO, Margarito, Cotto and Williams all beat Floyd, but Margarito would do it the easiest with constant 12 round pressure and Floyd is NOT hurting Marg in any kind of way!!!!
I say Clottey but if Marg ends up rematching Clottey then maybe Cintron, Collazo, or maybe if Juan Urango or Juan Lazcano would be willing to go to the 147 mark. But I would say in that order Clottey if no Clottey then Cintron if neither then Collazo or if Urango moves up a weight class!!!!
Is Andre Arloski still on the Casa/Marquez undercard making his boxing debut? Also Mora/Forrest is on that card so at least it has one interesting undercard fight. But I'd rather just watch Campbell/Guzman and Bradley/Cherry for free!!!!
Prolly b/c he deserved to be on the top 10 for years but noone gave him his shot until Cotto manned up and fought him. It's like the onlyl thing he was missing was a BIG Win over a Big Name and he finally got that, not saying he hasn't fought good fighters he just needed that one win to catapult him to the list. I have him ranked just barley over Cotto with Margarito coming in at 5 and Cotto at 6!!!!
1)Manny Pacquiao
2)Joe Calzaghe
3)Isreal Vazquez
4)Juan Manuel Marquez
5)Antonio Margarito
6)Miguel Cotto
7)Rafeal Marquez
8)Kelly Pavlik
9)Ivan Calderon
10)Cristian Mijares
thats because sergio didnt let him pull the trigger.
DUH!
This wasn't the only fight he looked sluggish in he looked like complete shit against hopkins. I just think he is done, i hope not but i don't think he wins another meaningful fight ever again!
First off I am a fan of Kelly Pavlik, and I do agree he does need a new trainer. But at the same time he can't pull the trigger anymore, I don't know what happend but it all started in the Hopkins fight and I thought it was just because he went up in weight and was just sluggish but he just couldn't get his shots off very fast last night and wasn't as active as he should of been. I don't know if he will ever bounce back but I hope he does and I do think he should consider hiring a new head trainer and if he wants to keep Jack around as another corner man like Cotto is doing with Santiago so be it.
Pac Man
Margarito
Cotto
Vic Darchinyian
Pavlik
Too hard to come up with 5, Vazquez, Marquez brothers, Anthony Peterson, Alan Green, Edison Miranda, Calzaghe, Chad Dawson, Abner Mares, Ricky Hatton, Kessler, I mean the list goes on and on!!!!
