Personally if I'm Cotto, I feel pretty good about my performance against Margarito, I outboxed him I tagged him repeatedly, I just underestimated how much the man can take. Maybe I can't beat him, maybe he's that tough, but I'm figuring what I brought that night, takes anyone else out. And if I can't beat him, I want to make money fights before a rematch with him. Me I'd go after Williams, a win there put's me right back.
Put yourself in his position, what do you do if you're him? Tell me your story.
man u vastly overrate Williams i guess u were out the night he fought Qunitana the 1st time
Go for Luis Collazo.
Does beating Collazo make Cotto make him the now WBC number 1 ranked contender? Maybe he gets a belt fighting Berto?
I went to Comcast today and they had two huge ass posters of the fight right where everyone could see, had too. I dont know how he'll comeback from this but fighting Cintron is nothing, he got Cintron'ed.
we'll just have to wait and see.
I'd say Andre Berto, Joshua Clottey or Luis Collazo are all good options for comeback fights. Maybe even in that order setting up the Marge rematch. Ideally I'd like to see him get at least 2 fights in his belt before challenging Marge again. Hopefully he's healthy and refocused on the comeback trail. Also I read somewhere Cotto will fight in November or December so news on his next fight should be out relatively soon probably by end of September.
what happend to collazo, what was his last fite? he sort of died down after that mosely fite. i still think hes top notch material.
Cotto's goal should be an immediate rematch with Margarito, but since most likely it wont happen right away, Cotto should fight Berto or Clotty to get a belt or go for PW cuz if he is able to beat PW, that would secure a rematch with Tony.
thats what im saying.

knocked down twice, he gets rocked too easily, Santos got hit by some bombs and he didnt flinch. he was suposed to win but he let Margarito close the gap and smuther him. As a pound for pound no, but he could beat Margarito if he boxed him, and not lay on the ropes waiting to counter punch.
well i disagree. i still think cotto is a top fighter. its not like he was doing terrible throughout the whole fight. he just didnt have an answer for margaritos pressure.

If I was Miguel Cotto, hire Emanuel Stewart or Floyd Sr., do a strong comeback fight against Yuri Nuzhenko in december, who is undefeated but doesn't meant any threat , besides, he doesn't punch. Then, go after Margarito in april 09 with an improve game plan focused in defense against uppercuts, fighting in the center of the ring and beat his ordinary ass. Then Berto or Williams in september.
I guess you were out when he raped him in a little over a minute in the rematch.
i seem to recall him getting lucky inside 1 round if thats what u mean otherwise he was on his way to another clear whooping whilst looking like a novice with no game plan in the process
Williams would do what Margarito did only sooner...like 4 rounds sooner.

cotto usually fights one hard fight each year and then two easy fights.....eg gomez, urkal, branco, torres, abdullaev, etc...
expect him to take an easier fight, and i think he should choose any one ranked from from 5 - 20.
I do think Williams has way too much body for Cotto to miss, always have. Paul has a pretty decent chin though, and as long as Cotto doesn't waste a ton of energy trying to knock him out, like he did against Margs, I like his chances. Miguel will likely take on an easier opponent that he knows he can blow out of there to get his confidence back first.

There aren't many men who can take Cotto's firepower. All his manager has to do is fit him up with somebody he can hit.
